I've got to admit I have a bit soft spot for the Last Leg, mainly due to its origins at the 2012 Paralympics. They did a good job of getting past the potentially patronising "See? They're just like you and me" attitude. |

| Just finished the opening two-parter for Doctor Who and I just have to say: holy s*** that was good. Sooooo good! - Spoiler:
Daleks, Missy being Missy, creepiness, oh god I missed the Dalek stories being creepy and not fanservice saturday morning villains like last time I saw Davros!
I have to admit, I let my guard down with Missy and I should have totally known better, I mean, she did kill two men to brag about how evil she still was in the first ten minutes of the first episode.
Speaking of Davros, haven't seen much Doctor Who before the new series, but I did see Genesis of the Daleks back when it came out on dvd and holy crap the nostalgia when that bit with the Doctor showing them mercy played!
I was intending to give this a rest till I finished series nine, but after that pair of episodes I just have to say something! |

| They were the best Dalek stories in a long time. I almost believed Davros at the end there! |

| Definitely, some of the best Dalek stories of the modern series without a doubt! Way back when I heard Moffat was taking over I was immediately dying to see what he'd do with the Daleks, five years later I finally get my answer, and boy was it totally worth the wait! Just finished Under The Lake/Before The Flood, and holy smokes that was intense as hell! Series 9 is off to a stunning start! Do I dare suspect it can still get better than this? Because the very concept almost scares me! |

| I found those two a little dull, so if they were exciting you're definitely in for a treat. |

| I liked Under the Lake, thought the follow-up was pretty mediocre though. But the Dalek episodes were top-notch. |

| Zygons? Awesome. Immortal girl? Intresting concept. Eye booger zombies? No, just no. Sleep no more? More like Please No More. I think Gatiss has finally officially done an episode I hate more than Fear Her, he's skated close to that a few times but boy this takes the cake. - Sleep No More spoilers:
The biggest issue I have with this episode, besides the fact it was so tryhard at the scaring people gig, is the weirdness.
Now, don't get that remark wrong, weird can be good, amazing even. Hell Doctor Who as a series is basically distilled weird in a 45 minute dose, and it normally excels at it.
But there's the thing, there is good weird, and then there is stupid weird. Sleep no More was the latter. Gatiss can do the former, but when he does the latter, which seems to be the norm, hooboy does he do the latter.
Very cheap scare attempts that fell flat for me throughout, a nonsense end "twist" that either means the solar system is dead or it was all irrelevant to begin with, and one of the stupidest most poorly explained monsters I've ever seen, although somehow I suspect even with proper origin explanation nothing can salvage what amounts to sentient eye boogers.
Face The Raven had better be damn good because after that episode I feel like kicking a puppy. If I were the type to give out of 10 ratings to individual episodes this one would be one of the only things I've ever actually sat through that would garner less than 3 out of 10. Given my very forgiving nature when it comes to ratings that should tell you exactly how much I think of the episode. Now I'm going to take a break before finishing this series off tonight because I feel I need to let the bad taste in my metaphorical mouth dissipate first. I want to get hyped up before the conclusion of what has otherwise been a amazing series, Moffat gave me a amazing series finale in S8 so I want to be HYPED! |

| Aw Fear Her wasn't that bad, not until the end anyway. As for FtR being "damn good"... meeeeeeeeh.
The episode after that is top stuff, mind. Stick with it Atherton! |

| Done. I'm such a roiling mess of emotions right now, those three episodes just. . . They had everything didn't they?
I'll have more to say tomorrow after a good long sleep and I've had a chance to collect my brain off the wall and I can express myself with more than just "wow" and "oh my god my heart" and "oh god the feels!" |

| I'll say this for it: that's the first time I've not been bored out of my mind by a Time Lords story. But yeah, they were cracking. Here's to more Capaldi! Do you have the Christmas one in that box set? |

| Heaven Sent is one of the most incredible episodes of anything on television, never mind Who. Truly a lovely thing, it was. |

| - Heaven Sent and Hell Bent thoughts/spoilers:
Absolutely smashing stuff. Heaven Sent started off the duo amazingly, there was so much amazing in the episode. How it kept you constantly wondering what was going on, kept managing to throw the Doctor and the viewer a semblance of hope before yanking it away, the further he got the more hopeless it seemed. Then the reveal, horrific yet hopeful at the same time, followed by the reveal Gallifrey was responsible. I do not exaggerate when I say I was actually on the edge of my seat during this episode.
Hell Bent, I'm sure some were probably disappointed at the more character driven nature of this one rather than the sort of epic explosive event the finales usually entail, but I absolutely loved the character drama this one brought. The Doctor completely changed after losing his companion and being essentially broken repeatedly for billions of years, the title of both episodes were so perfectly apt, especially Hell Bent.
Then the plot twists started, I can't be the only one who fought they'd pegged what was going to happen with Clara midway but was too absorbed by what was going on to think "hang on, this is a Moffat story so the one thing you can count on is that if you think you've figured out the rest of the story odds are you're completely wrong". Like the best plot twists it jumped me by surprise but was so obvious in hindsight.
The departure was suitably heartbreaking and hopeful, I wasn't a huge fan of Clara back in series 7 but she's really grown on my over the Capaldi era. Capaldi himself was utterly compelling during the episodes (and in general), needless to say I can't wait to see more of his Doctor! I'm so close to putting him as my favourite Doctor after series 9!

Yep, I'll probably watch it in a few days. Oh, and best wallpaper of all time? - Spoiler:
Best wallpaper of all time. |

| Finished House of Cards Season 4 last night which was great in the middle but the last few episodes were a bit boring.
Only thing is S5 is going to be interesting especially with the current political climate in the states that I'm interested what they take anything from it for the show in 2017. |

| I watched most of the rest of HoC yesterday. I've found it really got going again after the obvious big incident was resolved.
Really enjoyed Daredevil S2, I preferred it to S1 on the whole, though I did think it lacked something in the villain department. |

| I'm 4 episodes into S2 of Daredevil. Amazing stuff. This season has maintained from the start the intensity season 1 only reached at the end. There was a fight in episode 3 which felt like a deliberate attempt to recapture the fight from that episode last season, and it is phenomenal. - masofdas wrote:

They have to, surely? The whole situation is mad, and ripe for satire/ commentary. |

| S2 of DareDevil was awesome. Punisher needs a solo series immediately, best portrayal of the character yet: - Spoiler:
His prison fight was the best scene in the show, brutal.
Great to see Fisk back and sets up a lot for S3.
Also started to watch the Netflix show "Love", about half way through and really enjoying it. |
