| The slightly niche The Bridge II, which is a lovely Danish/Swedish crime thriller on BBC Four. It's fine work. |

Well, you've made me feel stupid for watching the entirely un-niche Brooklyn 99, a fun but unspectacular cop comedy from the US of A. |

| House Of Fools, Vic & Bob's new BBC2 sitcom. Which is very very silly. |

| Federer vs Nadal, the rematch I've been waiting for at the Australian open for so long is finally happening! Edit: well, that was a lot shorter than I was expecting. Really there was nothing Federer could do to stop that, that was truly phenomenal tennis from Nadal. |

| After all these years I'm finally going to finish a series I'd stopped watching with the final three seasons I never saw, and that would be season 6 of House, I just finished episode 3. It's been great so far. |

| Hostages, the thing on Channel 4. It's another American remake of a Middle Eastern TV show, like Homeland... which also has 8 letters and begins with 'ho'! WEird. |

| Season seven is down, that finale was intense as all else. So was the episode before the finale, that scene was just nightmare fuel plain and simple. I don't normally react when watching shows, but I was practically yelling " stop stop! Ah!" when that happened. - For those that don't remember the scene or haven't watched it:
It's the scene House tries to remove the tumors in his leg that he got after trying what ended up being rat poison in an attempt to try and sort out his leg.
Now onward to season 8! |

| Just finished Season 3 of Thrones. Fuck. I read the books already but it still hit me right in the gut.
Easily the best book, and the best season. |

Was it the womb shanking that hit you the hardest? I didn't see that coming at all, nice shock for book readers.

That was pretty brutal, and of course it was the bit they started with. Somehow, I think the worst part was seeing Cat kill the Frey girl. But the scene as a whole war really well done, especially with so much levity in the build up. Jaime's unfortunate scene was handled (pun intended) well too, came out of the blue. He's by far my favourite character and had most of his best scenes this season, generally with Brienne. Martin can kill all the Starks he wants as long as those two end up together! As always, Dany' s scenes were hugely entertaining to watch but also cheesy and a little too heroic for the shades of grey elsewhere. Even in later books, things might go awry and she might make mistakes but she's always a classic goody. Same with Jon and Tyrion. I love them three to bits, but they're far from the most interesting characters. They're marios rather than luigis. The only problem I had with the series was that I found the theon bits a little gratuitous and unnecessary, but they at least helped set Bolton and son up as great villains for future seasons.

I think the Theon bits took place at this time chronologically in the series - it saves them from flashbacking in later seasons to all this torture he's had, and keeps him in the audience's mind.
Also, I do not like how Dany is portrayed. I get the impression she's meant to be "heroic" in Martin and the showrunner's eyes, but I don't think there should be heroes in the world of Game of Thrones.

| Tried the new tv show of from dusk till dawn (on netflix) earlier & was pleasantly surprised when I actually enjoyed it, some of the nods to the movie made me smile but I just hope they don't rely on that too much. I guess I'll spoiler this next bit.... - Spoiler:
Even though Richie's visions were fleeting the make up for the vamp/monsters looks really bad, I really hope they don't go cheap with the effects seeing as how well walking dead has done with theirs.

| Death Note. One of the most interesting things was that for once the protagonist had nothing redeemable about them, we were never supposed to sympathize with them, none of that tripe. They were a potentially good person completely corrupted in to a evil psychopath and that was that. And yet despite how utterly appalling Light was I couldn't help but want him to win in the last arc.
Overall I'd give it a 9 out of 10, a surprisingly compelling and addictive series, it gets an extra point for pretty much spitting on typical corny themes seen in anime and especially not something I'd expect to originate from shounen jump. |

| Okay, who else is up to date with How I Met Your Mother? There are only three episodes left ever and basically... - genuine spoilers, go careful:
Not only is one of my all time favourite tv shows coming to an end, I'm more convinced than ever that the mother is dead or dying when Ted is telling the story and he's going to end up with robin which I don't want to happen. I'm really starting to love the mother and I never thought robin was a good fit for Teddy Westside. The two main things that have well and truly pushed me into the camp; the ending of Vesuvius and the fact that I just recently read Love in the Time of Cholera.
I'm pretty sure, come March 31st, I'll be in tears. |

| Recently watched ep 2 of from dusk till dawn & it was even better than the first, this could well become the best vampire TV show out there.
(Side note: I think you definitely have to be a fan of the film though) |

| I've been watching Genius Game, a Korean reality gameshow.
The premise, based on the manga series Liar Game, is thirteen people- a mix of celebs and plebs- playing a series of games in order to eliminate one another and take home a cash prize.
I know the 'reality' tag will drag out a lot of people's inner snob, but unlike something like The Apprentice or Big Brother, it's all very friendly (I'm two-thirds of the way through the first series and there's only been one real argument- and even then it was nothing), and unlike the tasks of Big Brother/I'm A Celeb which tend to be either eating weird shit or a jumped up version of something from Fun House all the games are deceptively simple parlour games of logic and strategy- which in turn means production concentrates more on gameplay than the interpersonal relationships of the contestants.
The game "Open, Pass", for instance created some brilliant heart-in-mouth moments as what seemed like a foregone conclusion very much turned out not to be the case, helped by some solid production.
On that subject, the show can feel a touch overproduced, but considering the complexity of some of the games, it can be forgiven- and it's got a fantastic soundtrack which makes up for it. |

| - Total spoilers. UK Amish E4 slowpokes need not apply:
So, that ending. I was pretty sure that was what was coming, but when it did come out was still a rollercoaster. The funny thing is, if you'd told me that was the ending any time before season eight, of have been www well up for it. I remember feeling really painful when Ted and Robin broke up at the end of season two. But the problem is, Josh Radnor and Cristin Milliotti did such a good job of making me fall in love with the mother, I just wasn't ready to see her die. It also felt a little rushed at the end there, they should have cut a little of the Barney stuff. But yeah, wow. Season nine needs to hurry up and come out on DVD so I can marathon the whole thing properly, knowing what's coming.

| - After rewatching the finale:
So I just finished watching it again and knowing that the mother was going to die I found the bit about how he'd love her as much and long as possible to be actually painful. I actually cried knowing for sure that that horrible scene with the kids was coming after it. I think there were several flaws in the episode (Barney's Regression being the worst of all) but if they'd cut it off at Ted saying and that's How I Met Your Mother I could've forgiven it all. I hate how i felt like they wanted to shoehorn in an ending that justified Ted and Robin. Gah horrible!
