| Nope! I'm quite enjoying it (not "him", silly Balla) this time around.
Various other characters have been rebalanced too, apparently, including the cheatyness of Diddy Kong. |

| Yeah, Diddy Kong's moves do less percent and knockback - not sure about the knockback change, as surely all that'll accomplish is more comboed hits? |

| Dopo, sorry, but there's more than just Lucas out on the 14th. Miiverse stage, more pointless Mii costumes (anyone actually bought 'em?), and a special presentation. Which does of course raise the question, why not leave it until E3? |

| Depends if you include conferences that aren't Nintendo-related or not. Speculation time! I reckon we'll see at least one more old fighter announced as DLC, and one surprise out of nowhere. I'll guess Wolf, and a Rhythm Heaven bloke. Oh, and at least one retro course. |

| I was starting to wonder when the Miiverse stage was going to show up, also Tournament mode please? I've not forgotten about that. Hopefully the new update will breathe new life in to the game for me, I've not really given it the time I should have and that's became less plentiful with the arrival of Mario Kart DLC and Splatoon.
I'm not really sure what else I'd ask for, new stages and some sort of replay/stage sharing hub would be nice too, character wise I'm not really fussed who they include (although Ice Climbers), the roster is pretty great as it is and there's enough Amiibo already.
On the subject of costumes, I'd actually like quite a few of them I just feel they're a bit too pricey, sell for 50p a pop and I'd be interested. |

| Yes, they're an okay idea, poorly implemented. Which is of course a rarity for Nintendo *cough*amiibo*cough*. Can't see the Climbers coming in this generation, due to those power restrictions caused by the 3DS. And much though I don't want Ryu in there, rather him than Snake. |

| That... reads as quite an indictment of tournament players. Which seems bloody silly, given Smash's not insubstantial tournament audience. Or maybe the translator was just trolling. Either way, I think he's right that intermediate players are the best level to balance it at - but then I would say that. I do think that Smash Bros. is at its best as the "ultimate party fighter". |

| Sakurai's been very vocal about his distaste for the competitive community, as it doesn't fit his vision of what Smash should be. Whilst I agree that balancing towards intermediate players makes sense - gives the beginner players something to work towards whilst not wholly alienating the competitive audience - I think his statements about competitive Smash really does seem silly, considering that both Melee and Smash 4 have the second and third highest amount of entrants at EVO 2015 behind Ultra Steet Fighter IV. That's far from insubstantial. It's a sign that there's a large part of Smash's playerbase that consider it a fighting game, and I think that bothers Sakurai. I do wonder if the reason Melee was originally pulled from EVO 2013 was a bid to distance it from being seen as a fighting game. |

| Apologies for the double post, but uh... spoilers ahead, I guess. - Spoiler:
So, as always, take this with a pinch of salt, but supposedly some people in Japan got a hold of the upcoming patch early, and it seems as though there's a lot of content coming up. We've got a new stage in Dreamland 64, but perhaps most interestingly, two new characters. These look like victory screens from Classic mode for Roy and Ryu.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D8Jjz-V8jE4&feature=youtu.be
Now, considering the very impressive but ultimately fake Rayman leak, I'm not going to trust this 100%. But, it falls in line with earlier patch data referencing Roy and Ryu, and shows actually gameplay this time instead of just the character select screen. I'm inclined to believe it, but I won't fully trust it until we see an announcement from Nintendo.
Please be considerate and spoiler tag any posts about this!

He'll probably have his "more damage at the base of the sword" thing from Melee... but he'll still be a clone.

Yes. I just don't see the point of picking him over literally any other former character, when Lucina already exists! Including sodding Pichu. And I've changed my mind - I don't think I do want to buy him, unless something substantial has changed. But I will be battling my completionist nature in that respect.

Just seen the videos on Nintendo Enthusiast they do look pretty convincing, I still find Ryu weird as I could be playing him in SMASH and think I want to plat the new Street Fighter now ohh wait I've got to buy a PS4 to do so.
Also I hope I'm wrong about Ballot & Fix which I said about posts awhile ago and Nintendo do not say these characters are coming due to the ballot.

Agreed with Ryu's theme, that was great! I think I prefer the guitar-laden Ken's theme from Turbo HD Remix though.
I'm very interested to see how Ryu plays - he seems to be based on Street Fighter IV judging by the focus attack, and his moveset seems pretty much intact from that game too.
