I would be up for a SMASH Tourney, I've not played the game for a while and don't really mind what rules we play.

It was more for agreeing on a set day and time but I thought I'd clarify some of the rules for those hadn't went into the new mode yet, I also wouldn't want it to turn into a Mario Kart situation where folk would race ahead on wins/pts because others couldn't play at the specified times.

Sunday is probably best for me now as well, the time still stands though.

I think Sunday would be better for me... Saturday might be a bit tight. Can you set the WiiU game pad to display the screen as opposed to the scores?

I'm pretty sure you can.

Tell me how any tourneys you have go, gents. Until I can move to my new flat and get decent Internet, I have to do my online gaming vicariously.

Greetings from SONM! I'm hosting a low-tier character only tournament on there, however sign ups have been a little underwhelming this time around. So, if any of you are interested in having some online fun, then please come here to see the full details of the tournament. I'm aware this is a bit short notice, but yeah, it'd be great if some of you guys participated~

Thanks for stopping by, Jezo! Unfortunately m("y connection prevents me from joining in. We know", says everybody). Good luck with your tourney, though.

Jas might be very happy. I would have been if SK had remained exclusive to Nintendo consoles - now, with no history behind him and no particular ties to Nintendo, I think he'd be a shiter of a choice.
He could be a very interesting character to play as, though, I'll give him that. But them so would Master Chief. Ho hum.

I heard about the amiibo thing a few days ago & while I was obviously excited by the idea I assumed it to be fake, so I'm going to wait and see on this one before I lose my shit.

He will always have been on Nintendo platforms first (isn't that a history & tie to Nintendo?) & if he wasn't successful there then the other versions would have been less likely to happen, surely that's got to count for something?

I can only agree with Balla as to SMASH is about Nintendo history along with some gaming history but SK doesn't fit any of that, you might as well ask for Leon S.Kennedy as he's been in about 4 RE's on Nintendo systems and has a bit of history around him.

I believe in the ballot. Sometimes Smash Bros. is about Nintendo's future, too - remember Pit appearing in Brawl? If this comes to pass, I'd be well up for it.

Firstly, not this old argument again & I wouldn't be fussed by him either.
As I've said before I'm confident that most dlc characters (non-returnees) will be one offs and won't appear in later smash bros games & when it comes to dlc the rules can be broken which often makes it more exciting.

History of one generation? Doesn't count to me. Tie to Nintendo? Barely any more than to Sony or MS (using Nintendo as a springboard is arguably even less loyal). I just don't think that Knighty-boy has any links with Nintendo or Nintendo history now at all.

Yet Smash bros has Robin in it?

I don't see how it has to be about loyalty & his link to Nintendo is pretty clear to me, for example Yacht club games have said many times the idea of SK is heavily influenced by a bunch of different NES games so basically without Nintendo he wouldn't exist.
----
If he is to be in smash bros I'm not sure if I'd want a full 3d model for him (like Mega man) or keep him 2d like Mr Game & watch.

Nintendo character.

That's where we differ. Third-party characters should have deep and abiding links to Nintendo in my opinion. SK hasn't existed for long enough to be abiding, and spreading to other consoles scuppers the depth.
Speaking of depth, I'd much rather see him (and indeed anyone else) re-imagined in 3D.
