| I'd be incredibly surprised to not see Inklings included sooner or later, they're the biggest characters not to be on Smash Bros now, they might not have the legacy but Splatoon was a great success and they'd be foolish not to capitalise on that. |

| Last burst of content for Smash on 3DS and Wii U. It's a sad moment, really. I am hoping, though, that there's a fighter I can't possibly resist released tonight. |

| Yep... Fire Emblem character #6 is a bit much, even if he does look like a fun character. It's a marketing ploy above all else. Bayo though! Now that I can get behind. Great choice with a brilliant stage to boot. |

| Two anime swordsmen and... possibly the best third-party choice they could have gone with. Would rather have had another first-party character, but eh. That said, I'd have taken Shovel Knight over Fire Emblem Generic Hero Mk. 2892904279. |

| NOOO, WHERE'S WOLF? Bah, who cares about Wolf with Corrin and Bayo in the cast? Compared to what the net predicted the announced chars were so much more fun looking to use! Forget Wolf, forget K.Rool, forget Shovel Knight, forget all them! We got Bayo and Corrin! |

| Corrin even though another fire emblem sword character looked cool and hopefully helps fates like it looks like it's trying to do.
On Cloud how I took it was people wanted Final Fantasy characters and as Cloud is maybe the most well known they went for him. He may not have ties to Nintendo but Final Fantasy does and is a historic series that I see him put in to celebrate that & gaming history.
Bayonetta I voted for her and she was top pick, soon as she became a sort of a 2nd party character as part of the deal. It always made sense to me, for her to be in it. |

| "Smashing!" ~ As an aside, I want to know who had higher votes than Bayonetta that wasn't a 'realisable character'. Personally I couldn't have saw past Paper Mario or Shovel Knight, but they wouldn't have been a problem, surely. I wonder if it was John Cena or someone like that. It would have been a great moment in history if you had that final character trailer play, and you Paulatena say "don't get careless, Pit, a challenger approaches"... "AND HIS NAME IS IS JOHN CENAAAAAAAAA!!!!!" |

| Bayo was definitely the best character introduced tonight, and I agree with Mas that she's practically second-party now. Also at Villager being on the dark side. You'd have had a lot of people voting for Shrek and Goku, Cappa. Don't underestimate the stupidity of the Internet. |

| We're Europeans, we're of sophistication and class, and we vote for characters from good games like Bayonetta 2, Hogs of War and OutRun 2006: Coast 2 Coast.
I don't doubt the stupidity of Americans though. They probably voted for characters from non-Hogs of War and non-OutRun 2006: Coast 2 Coast games, because they're roasters.

| Honestly, dumb memes aside, I could see someone like Shrek making quiet the fun unique character!
Not a better character than Anime Swordsman #11 though!

| Raiden would have been such a classic Sakurai troll move. Imagine everyone wanting it to be Snake, only for it to be Raiden. And in anime swordsman ninja mode. The boiled piss over MGS2 would pale in comparison to the torrent that'd come with that announcement.
Yeah, considering Cloud's in the game, I can't imagine most video-game characters being too difficult to get into Smash. It probably was bloody Goku on the US list. |

| On Corrin: I don't particularly care one way or another about their smash appearance, but watching all the moves made me think they will be super cool in FE:F itself.
On Bae: YASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS |

I literally ed out loud. As for the characters... they could have been much worse. Now Bayonetta's announced, it feels right to me; Corrin/Corrina is an unknown quantity who looks part Pokémon, part ruddy anime swordsperson (there will be taglines, you mark my words DIGRESSION ALERT: Whilst I mark your numbers! ) who, as Jay rightly points out, is a marketing tool. Feel the negativity, but at least a Nintendo character. |
