Yeah but EA's is during the same week as E3, that's the difference. They could had one any time yet they've decided to have a event when the gaming world and mainstream press is looking at the gaming world.

There is nothing wrong with having a event at another time like with the PS4 & XBONE but both were before E3 then when it came to that E3 we knew they were going these new consoles and everything about them..

Will the mainstream press care about a event in October (for arguments sake) showing the NX or cover TGS where it could be shown, get the same attention.

For us lot it doesn't matter as we will get a email that says NX-Direct we will watch it, etc and now it's Zelda could be the game of E3 and none of us are going that it doesn't matter if it is the only thing to play there.

But as a businesses IMO it's stupid how Nintendo are handling the situation and the hype off new games, talking to you guys about E3 and now that's gone from Nintendo.

NX is obviously not ready to be shown off then, would you rather them rush it just so it could be at E3? I know I wouldn't want that & since Nintendo are usually under a bigger microscope compared to Sony/MS I don't think they'll struggle for mainstream media coverage.

It depends, as at the PS4 launch event in February they never showed the console just some games, specs and what you could be able to do with the system in the future.

Nintendo could do very much the same show of Zelda, Pikmin 4 etc and say these are NX games we will talk more about it later on in the year please be excited but in the mean time heres' all these 3DS games & Paper Mario on Wii U.

It depends on when the event is as the mainstream media could be occupied by PSVR, Neo or Second Gen instead of the NX , if they launch and Nintendo just have a event.

With apologies to Balla, I'm bursting with optimism. The more I think about this, the better I feel. Nintendo would struggle to compete with PSVR, NextBox and PS4+; E3 coverage will mostly focus on them, I'd wager, with NX afforded a little time in an already brief future news report. Yes, this is when the mainstream media come to town and poke the funny multimillion dollar hobby we call 'gaming', but the proper announcement of a new Nintendo machine will surely make it to a few news outlets, regardless of the time of year that it's made. If it happens at the Tokyo Game Show, as some rumours are suggesting, that's even better - they're much more likely to have the metaphorical floor to give us their message without any other distractions.

I can't see Xbone2 and PSf2 getting all that much attention honestly, the two systems are either going to have to have features that won't be used in any meaningful games because they alienate everyone who bought the earlier models, or they are going to have big games exclusive to it which. . . Alienates those who bought early models.

The two systems are imo extremely poorly thought out.

Nintendo might, get some mainstream media coverage at tgs (I really doubt that, I've learned to never underestimate the mundane irrelevancy of the mainstream media), but regardless nothing they can do at TGS will put the NX on the map the way a well done presentation at E3 would achieve.

Besides, Nintendo's biggest problem in recent times is that they have been preaching to the choir, the converted, and have not been even trying to engage with new customers. They should, quiet frankly, be hitting both conventions with all they've got.

I am inclined to doubt that what we're being told at the moment is all that Nintendo have up their sleeve. All I've got to go on is my gut, though.

This thought has crossed my mind too, just look at how out of control the NX rumours got with the "leaks" etc now I know this might be doubtful itself but what if Nintendo have laid out these e3 plans to throw everyone off & then unleash one hell of a surprise?

To me it's not will a NX-Direct be good or not when ever it is but this thread title has Non-Event in it about E3 and that's what E3 seems to be from Nintendo.

No matter how huge Zelda is and I would like to see more but not a whole day's worth of a game that isn't coming for another 9 month's, that most that will be watching will buy anyway with or without seeing much on it.

It's not just Nintendo though as E3 on the whole this year I'm sort of muh on, as right now I reckon I could predict 90% of what's going to be shown by everyone.

@Athrun Second Gen & Neo both won't alienate people just improve on a few things ala Old 3DS to New 3DS minus the exclusive content.

But that has. Not that many people would say upgrading from an old to a new 3DS was the best thing that ever happened to them. I can understand people getting the swankier XO or PS4 as a new console, but very few will swap out. It's bad, I tells ye. As for the NX, either we know everything (in which case there's no point in Nintendo going on a massive marketing spree - anyone who wants one is already paying attention) or we don't (in which case, wait).

That's my point the Old to New 3DS have alienated people as I can play SNES VC and XC3D on my New 3DS, Balla (I think still on Old) can't.

But if the rumors are correct if I buy a 2nd Gen Xbox One for Gears of War 4 and Drunka buys it on his 1st gen Xbox One, where still playing the same game and together online but his might be running at 900p 30fps and mine might be running at 1080p 60fps.

That will be it with maybe a few other tweaks like bigger HDD, faster loading times but there won't be something only on one system that the other can't get. It may alienate people in a few years when the game runs like utter crap on a 1st gen system.

I think Jimbob is saying it's a very slippy slope that shouldn't be there to begin with because it can lead to the possible scenario in the last part of your post.

It might do but I don't hear to much backlash from the smart device market or the PC guys when X person can run Witcher III on Ultra and I can just about run it on low which it could be a thing, going forward but the game still runs on both levels.

If I was Sony or MS, at E3 I would just come out and go this the new PS4 Slim or Xbox One Slim and just say that it has improved hardware which can lead to greater performance in games.

No silly names like Neo or Second Generation, I think going the slim root would be easier to market and basically saying we where working on a slim model and whilst we were at it we've upgraded it.

It happened with the 360 Slim not even terms of improved games (well I hear GTAV can run poorly on older 360's) but did improve reliability and a few other things, also I bought one at midnight launch and it was packed in GAME.

Ohh and I took advantage of there trade in policy & £25 with console offer by buying 6 copies of Tiger Woods.

Ahha yes as it would have been 4 in a row sort of, was EA normally at 11pm. I can't really remember but now juts means E3 starts a little earlier in the week and gives us time to Podcast as well.

I'm working over those few days, so I'm going to miss all the conferences, sadly. A shame, although I'm not hugely excited for E3 this year. Bring on Ninty's "NX plus all the games" extravaganza somewhere down the line.
