Sonic Mania

OH FUCK YES.

Nobody's lying when they say that they've been waiting for this game since the Mega Drive days. I know I have. It's for this, Sonic Mania, that so many people have suffered through and endured all the lows of the Sonic The Hedgehog series, and there's been very, very many since 1994. Don't get me wrong, stuff like Sonic Rush and Sonic Generations is well good, but there's been so many false dawns in amongst that. And so many folk have always hoped for something like this; this looks, sounds and feels like nothing that SEGA have put out in over twenty years. I haven't been as excited about a new release (from any games series) for years because of this.

All I'm saying is "It had better be good"!

It irks me that this has to be in Nontendo as this really deserves to be on a Nintendo console, properly looks the part and would be nice to repay Nintendo's faith in Sonic and Sega. Regardless this looks like a day one purchase, I may be getting ahead of myself but that looked like exactly everything you need from a 2D Sonic game.

I'm sure it'll pop up on the NX or something once Nintendo are ready to talk about it.

If you read my article on Retro Collect, you will know SEGA are barely involved and it's the guys who love Sonic, who did the ports on mobile of the Mega Drive games and seems to be the Retro Engine as well.

So it should be all good.

Mas will tell you more, but this is some kinda 2D Sonic made by a Sonic superfan.

I've never really got on with 2D Sonic as I've found the platforming inhibits that sense of speed that makes Sonic fun to play, but the Drop Dash might speed things up enough to get me interested in this.

On a side note, that trailer track was a certified banger.

Should you join the threads together with the other one for this game but super sold on this as it's brilliant from I've played and a Nintendo is the home of Sonic for me now.

Breathed a sigh of relief when I saw this was heading Switchwards - only sensible thing to do, really. Needless to say, v. excited.

Collectors Edition seems to becoming for Switch but really I ant a physical version on a cart.

Was always going to get this, just not sure if it'll be on the Switch or not yet.

To me a Nintendo system is the home of Sonic now and it has to played on the Switch.

It would feel better on the Switch I'm sure but Nintendo have yet to show their hand on trophies.

Son Man coming at the same time as other versions. Quite looking forward to this one still - much more than the 3D Sonic game due this year. Just need a date now...

Extremely unlikely. I'm worried about my ability to persuade her to play Snipperclips, let alone oh I see.

Playing as Tails to beat the boss whilst the Sonic player sits back is quite a lot to ask.

I don't know how the news is really news to be honest as when it was announced for Switch it was announced as coming spring or whatever like the other systems, sure that may mean it came out March for PS4 then May for Switch, it's not a huge difference.

Also we now know why some Switch games are more expensive due to the cartridge based medium and smaller studios like Tequila Works, have to charge the extra 10 for Rime on Switch where a WB will eat the loss I gather for likes of LEGO City.

Mania is digital only that the extra cost for cartridge doesn't even come into play, but does explain cost of Binding etc not so much for Ultra SFII though.

I don't think it's as clear cut as all that though, as I've heard some e shop games will hold the RRP because Nintendo (I imagine the same is probably true for Sony/MS too) don't want to upset retailers by undercutting them.

That's why RIME is £40 on the eShop the same price as retail, they said they basically want one to have pay more or less than the other.

But could be due to the platform holder but why that game is ten more than on PlayStation 4 is due to the cartridge and the above is why will be on the eShop as well.

Sonic Mania is digital only, so being more on Switch shouldn't really be a thing.

Oh I totally agree it shouldn't be a thing but I'm just pointing out that it may not be as clear cut as you said because we don't have all the info & for every developer it will be different for a number of reasons not just one.

Sure but cartridges is the one Tequila Works, SEGA etc are saying why thier game is ten more on Switch.
