| This time 10 years ago, NGamer was operating at maximum hype level during a month where there was very little actually occurring release-wise. I mean, the main review is an import of Tingle RPG ffs. In fact, a hefty chunk of the reviews this month were import DS games. Personally, I wasn't a fan of this issue, barring the interesting piece on Virtual Console predictions. I did find the Nintendo bias leaves a nasty taste in the mouth - putting Nintendo's finest SNES games up against Altered Beast and Golden Axe (two primitive arcade titles from the late 80s). Also seeing Lego Star Wars 2 go in as 10th best Gamecube game (Smash Bros Melee at 11th) - what's that all about?! |

| Has this one been scanned in and made available? I'm going to struggle to take part otherwise (not that I've finished issue 2 yet... ). |

| I have ripped the DVD for this issue too, but can only find trial versions of DVD ripper software so the video has a big logo in the middle of it. Anybody able to advise of free DVD ripping software (or may have DVD ripping software)? I have Windows 10. Unless somebody wants me to send them the stash of NGamer DVDs I have? |

| We're nominating Grant for an MBE, right? I don't have any DVD software I'm afraid. Someone else help!!!!!!!!! [less tired now] Sorry you were a bit down on this issue - to me, with all of the (reserved) hype, this made me want to subscribe immediately. Started re-reading this - I can't believe how much I forgot! - Highlights up until page 23::
- Making fun of the lifestyle models in the Wii brochure in NGExpress
- Seeing the VC game "channels" on the Wii menu - it made me want to play all of them, including R-Type (I never did this)
- The concept of transferring Miis on the Wiimote memory - did anyone ever do this in the end?
- Deriding the Metal Slug Anthology PR quote
- The Takaron translation
- More sadly, the concerns raised by motion-steering via ExciteTruck
- The request for BG&E2 - how's that working out

| No, I don't have anything to do with the royal family or the outdated peerage system.I'd vote GJones for president, though (sorry Rum). - Jimbob wrote:

[*] YES! Myself and friends used this to take Miis to one another's houses. The likes of Chuck Norris, Mr. T and General Zod, because we were very funny. - Quote :
- [*]More sadly, the concerns raised by motion-steering via ExciteTruck
[*] To be fair, Excite Truck came out great- as did Mario kart. It was whenever anyone other than Nintendo tried to do motion steering . . . |

| I've not downloaded this yet, but I remember the print issue quite well. This was when I was starting to get really hyped for the idea of the Wii, if not really the launch line-up. I can also remember seeing the screenshots of Far Cry Vengeance back in 2006 and thinking 'aye, that looks baws'. I'm sure that it got something like 25% in the review a few months afterward (which was well-deserved, as I found out later). Anyway, more thoughts to come once I get it downloaded. Cheers for starting this up again gjones |

| Into the reviews section now - I forgot the legendary orange in a shopping trolley! And actually I forgot all about Tingle's Rosy Fresh Something. Actually I wish I played it; I might grab an old copy somewhere. *looks on Amazon and eBay* ha ha ha ha ha silly me. |

| Aye - 'tis difficult keeping up! I sure miss "alternatively stupid" reviews - Kittsy going out to learn what Mahjong is all about; Chrissy suggesting the art game is theraputic for recovering alcoholics. And of course the usual unnecessary asides; bulk copying dumb YouTube and website comments. Not in this issue, but in one of the last NGCs, someone made a Metroid quilt; - Greener wrote:
- "You are my shero" wrote one commenter. "I like how it's pixellated, just like real life" said someone who is presumably stuck in the Matrix.

| Man, it felt like there were a million games coming for the Wii, didn't it? And they all came with the possibility of completely changing the world. What a time to be alive. Here are some choice turns of phrase: - The transparency effects on this planet-within-a-planet will make your teeth fall out.
- ...the prospect of which should make any Nintendo gamer want to strike themselves in the gut with excitement
- What's the point of Sonic the Hedgehog Genesis when we'll hopefully be Virtual Console-ing the same game to our Wii for the price of two vegetable pasties, a can of coke and a packet of square crisps.
- You don't remember Gobots? Rubbish aunts would buy them instead of Transformers, ruining Christmas.
- It's an anime-based mountain bike racing game that takes place at the pace of a whiskey-addled OAP pottering around Budleigh Salterton.
- A moped enema would be preferable to playing any more of this game.
And the footnotes in the Yoshi's Island 2 preview are a thing to behold... |

March 2017 marks the 20-year anniversary of N64 magazine (which has been archived digitally). Any interest in this? I'd probably try games via Project 64. |
