After 4 tough years, Nintendo are releasing the successor to the Wii U, The Switch, on 3rd March 2017. To celebrate our next home console, and to mourn the death of the Wii's ultimately doomed brother, I thought it was about time we came together to see what the best games to grace it's disc reader, according to our activity logs.

This is a cross forum project. Users from GNamer, SONM and GRcade will be coming together to submit times.

Getting involved is simple. All you have to do is power up your Wii U, head into the activities log, and take note of the amount of time spent on each game. Unfortunately, unlike the 3DS, there's no option to view your top played games, so you'll have to do it manually. Once you've taken a note of all your most noticable games, post the list in the thread. There's no limit to how many games you can submit, and if you have more than 1 WiiU, you can post lists from both!

But it's not just games this time round, oh no... We're counting apps as well. Yes, I'm looking at all you eShop window shoppers. You're free to, hell I encourage you to post your times for apps, such as eShop, Youtube, Miiverse ect.

Along with your times, you can post comments about your thoughts or memories about the game. They might be featured in the final list!

Each forum will receive its own list of top games, compiled of its member's times. In addition to this, an overall, combined list will also be compiled, using everyone's times. The apps will only appear in a combined list.

To counter some balancing issues, the TWEWY (The World Ends With You) rule exists. This means that, if only 1 user enters a time for a game, only 25% of the total time is counted. If 2 users enter a time for a game, 50% of the time is counted. In order for all times to be counted, 3 or more users must submit a time for the game. This rule won't apply to the app list.

I'll accept time from now until 11th February. Then, on Monday 13th February, I'll post the top games from each forum. Finally, on Friday 17th February I'll post the top Games and Apps lists on all three sites. By that point, hopefully, we'll be ready to move on from the most untimely of deaths.

I don't get that one to be honest I knew it was coming but surely it only has so many hunts to do, where Kart 8 is just that online which I could never get into at all.

I did like looking back and seeing this one point in time where the Wii U was really good, also I've got games on my Wii U like Golden Sun which aren't even on my times as I've never played them Embarrassed

Its one of the reasons why I'm keeping the Wii U even though I had that huge clear-out of Wii U games back last summer as I thought why am collecting for a console which I don't have much love for, is that I've got like 50 games (which I will never actually get around to play) on a HDD and I doubt they'll come over to the Switch easily if at all and of course the three Zelda universe titles and the three Zelda Universe Wii games that I need something to play them on.

Also who knows I remember having Zero GameCube games as I sold them all to buy my Xbox 360 at launch and now I've got over 70 again, that one day I may see a cheap copy of The Wonderful 101 and decide to pick it up.

The funny thing is I could probably find other things to aim for in that game, also you could fight the same monster 5 times & each time it'll feel totally different.

My WiiU is in another country (I left it behind when I came back for my second term at uni), but I have a pretty good idea for a few of them so here they are.
Games:
Xenoblade Chronicles X 150hrs
Splatoon 70hrs
Super Mario Maker 60hrs
Mariokart 8 70hrs
LoZ Wind Waker HD 30hrs
Warriors Orochi 3 Hyper 50hrs
Apps:
Crunchyroll: 50hrs (I worked this out using logic and the fact that crunchyroll tells me about my usage statistics)

I'm 100% confident that these times are right, having erred on the side of caution for each of them. A "total" of 430 hours though, which isn't that bad.

In the meantime, there's a few tight battles going on between some similar games. Just for fun, I'll update a poll within the thread every few days to see where the majority stand with them.

First up, Wind Waker HD vs Twilight Princess HD. Which do you think will be more popular?

Poor old Axiom Verge. Only 22 minutes. Aww!

Mario Sports MIX just missed out too, on 0:59, all in one play session.

Apps:

Dunno how you lot all spent so much time on your browsers. I found my computer more convenient and my 'phone more portable.

Oh, and - WWHD. WWHD was released when people were still excited for, and playing plenty of games on, the Wii U. If I didn't play TPHD (it still sits unopened in my living room), then that settles it.

My browser was used a lot for Youtube on the TV. It's ideal for music etc when I've got people round drinking. Can queue stuff up on the gamepad while the TV keeps playing.
