Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (Ridley Me This)

There's apparently some weird 'theory' doing the rounds to do with the game box, saying we'll get one more Echo and one more original fighter.  I imagine there's one more Smash Direct to come, and I wouldn't mind them bookending it with two originals like they did last time!

Also people are talking up Incineroar being a character, which (given that it's the worst SM starter) is bobbins.  Decidueye or bust!  Or somebody completely weird.  Not Isaac, please: we've got enough swordspeople.  Including...

I love the OoT design they've gone for him too - they've even changed his Final Smash accordingly!

Glad they've made more changes to Gannondorf, he's too big of a character not to be more unique.

Given that Decidueye got the nod in Pokken over the other two then it makes sense that's the one they'd go with for Smash (if that's a real thing).

Potential leak:

I've chucked that into a spoiler box as it's potentially a leaked image - I'm not fussed as I'd seen it already, but I'd figured most would like to see leaks avoided from open discussion until officially revealed by Nintendo.

Not to worry - I've no chance of going unspoiled on anything Smash related due to the number of competitive Smash player Twitter accounts I follow or the frequency that I visit the Smash Bros. subreddit, but I'd like to keep this place as leak free as can be for others.

I don't think I've seen whatever that is? (Not looked.)

I mean, in a way Ninty's leaking them all anyway, but I think I'd rather see it from the Yoshi's mouth, so to speak.

I think it's a totally different kettle of fish in that Nintendo will show off a new character with love and attention likely by way of a cinematic trailer, which is a much better way to find out about a character as opposed to a blurry screenshot of some demo unit or something.

That's bang on. Can compare it with what's done for Overwatch characters.

So long as Nintendo don't attach a long, drawn out ARG to their next character reveal, we'll be golden.

Just a heads-up for those that care - a supposedly pretty heavy leak has hit the Internet today, so be careful if you want to stay unspoiled.

Definitely the right approach. I've seen things about the 'leak' that look fake, but it's better to be safe than sorry.

On official news note, do you reckon we'll get another character reveal before the launch? I still think we'll get another Smash Direct next month to show off the new mode and a new character or an Echo Fighter or something. I don't think they'll leave the new mode hidden until launch at least.

They've said they're going to reveal all of the characters, haven't they? So I reckon so.

Have they been on record saying that? I thought they might have left a surprise in like Duck Hunt on Smash 3DS.

It was in one of the directs I believe, might mean I don't watch the next one.

40 minutes... I'm predicting four character reveals (2 new, 2 echoes) and a big section on the mystery mode. I am hyped!

You'd think they have to announce a fair few remaining characters, wouldn't you?  At least two new and an Echo; as well as some in-depth stuff on the one-player modes.  40 minutes is a lot!

In all honesty, not the best two new characters, but I imagine some here will have a riot playing as a wrassler in Smash, so I'm happy for them. Meanwhile yon free early bird bonus is chuffing amazing!

Also: World of Light. You'll all have seen the Smash Bros.: Infinity War memes, but how epic was that!? I was all ready to be disappointed, with all of the material devoted to glorified Stickers, language, and weird online decisions; then they sprung that 1-2 punch on me. Bloody hell!

Now if you'll excuse me I'm off to listen to the main theme on repeat.

Aye that was a solid direct, Piranha Plant looks like the type of out the box fighter I enjoy playing as, rolled my eyes a little at Ken since I had seen it leaked but having him in there is good. I was proper confused at what Incineroar was (but I know two things from Smash bros and that's animal = Pokemon and edge lord with a sword = Fire emblem) but his move set does look decent.

Overall it's looking like a top quality game full to the brim with fun content and for 1 thing that might make someone annoyed/angry there's probably 5 things or more that should make you smile.

Yep, capped it off with another cracking round of content - this will be my game of forever. Ken? I'm all over that, great character and THE original Echo Fighter from fighting games. Incinerorar? A big wrasslin' cat? Yes please. And Piranha Plant was completely out of left field and I absolutely love how silly Smash can be sometimes with its fighter choices. And we've got five more to come as post launch DLC? Brilliance.

The game looks absolutely stacked with content too. I'm chuffed to bits to see an Adventure Mode. Let's face it, it wouldn't really be an "Ultimate" edition of Smash without a substantial single player experience like that. Top stuff. Roll on December!
