Will try and catch up on choons and chat soon! Just wanted to plop a couple in before I fall behind more:
Day 13: Music you like from a game you don't like
I also found this quite hard because I don't really remember music from games I didn't like because I... didn't really play them. So I settled with this from Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards because it was a game I really tried to commit to but I just found it a bit boring. And this is quite a good boss theme (and not one I expect anyone was saving for the boss battle theme day).
Day 14: Music featuring vocals
Katamari Damacy! "Laaaa la la la la la la la la laa laa laa laa laaaaa..."

Rest of Day 13 catch up:
Can't say I've ever played DMC and I'm sure the series is fine but this music does it no favours for me, generic to the core. Really like the Shenmue track, sounds like it would fit perfectly in to an RPG. The ECCO one is great, it's one of those games that I remember thinking it was cool but haven't revisited and probably best I keep it that way. The Mario Tennis music sounds very serious and action packed, works well for the series. I very nearly subjected everyone to Ultra Smash on the way to a GNamer meetup when I seen it was going for like £15, decided against buying it, probably for the best. Nuts and Bolts is lovely stuff and I'm not surprised, considering most of Kirkhope's stuff sounds the same I never tire from it. That Kirby pick completely threw me, if that doesn't say epic final battle I don't what does.
Day 14:
Great start to lyrics day with 2 Metal Gear tracks, if there's one thing Kojima games have apart from bat shit craziness it's great music, further evidenced by Death Stranding which I was gonna pick but I barely played it so I'll save that for Mas to do it justice. I feel quite bad not remembering the Odyssey song whatsoever, it good but I'd much rather have Jump Up Superstar. That Canon Fodder song is excellent, the lyrics are horrible and problematic to no end but I still love that so much, I have no idea how that hasn't been constantly memed to death (in the sun). All music threads could do with more old school rock so very pleased with the Full Throttle pick. Love the Katamari music, sounds fun and not too serious as I would have expected.
For lyrics day I've gone with the main theme for I am Bread. It has all the making a silly naughties Flash video, I won't lie though, this had me quite pumped the first time I heard it.
2 months...:
is the amount of time I beat Mas to it when I picked the theme for Snake Eater as well. As I said back then, it's the best Bond Theme never to be a Bond Theme. That makes 3 of my previous picks so far.
Day 15
If there's one thing 3D Sonic games have in common it's some pretty radical music tracks. This is from the final boss battle of Sonic Adventure where you become Super Sonic to take down a giant creature destroying the city. It's also the title theme with added lyrics, a trope I kinda liked as it really gave a feeling of business is picking up when it kicked in, they did the same trick on Adventure 2 which I probably prefer to this but rules is rules.
Iconic pick from Mas for a Boss Battle, Sepiroth is an evil Son of a bitch and this theme just screams it in a perfectly cheesy way.
My previous pick was...:
a second Metal Gear track in a row! Well justified though because this slaps, can't beat a bit of naughty saxophone.

I forgot that Open Your Heart is the boss theme in Sonic Adventure as well as the title theme. It's one of the best video game songs ever, simply put. I could have used it for the 'music you always have stuck in your head day', or the 'music that gets you pumped', or even a couple of others.
Day 15: Boss Battle Music
First thing that came into my head was the Boss Theme from Ristar:
Just a great game, is all.

Older days:
I think O2 appears in Smash maybe? The Kirby games have always had weirdly dark bosses with oddly great music. No exception.
Katamari Damacy is an absolute chuffing banger and maybe the right choice. Those lyrics!
Definitely getting those Newgrounds vibes from I Am Bread. That's a nostalgia trip in a song. Like it.
Re. Smurf's feedbacks, I feel like that Cannon Fodder track has been memed a fair bit? I'd swear I've heard it before without knowing it was in Cannon Fodder. Also, why am I the only person who seems to prefer Break Free to Jump Up? Is it because we were all exposed so much to Jump Up and only got Break Free at the end of the game? Is it because I'm the only person here who sings videogame songs to himself, and found myself tripping over some of Jump Up's clumsier lyrics? Is it just because it's anime as hell? Answers on a postcard please.
Day 15:
One Winged Angel is perhaps the archetypal example of me not getting on so well with a classic as everyone else, but it does sound so much better with a full orchestra. That oboe! That piano! Those strings! Yup this is much better. Still prefer Dancing Mad though.
That certainly is a Sonic pick. Smurf likes rock, I don't, let's leave it there. Yell Dead Cell's one I've heard through Smash - and, er, turned down fairly low. I can imagine this working well in context as a frantic battle theme, but on its own it's a bunch of random string chords over a bassline.
That Ristar track is starts off really well, but the tune doesn't go anywhere. It felt like it was going to do some soaring melodic transitions... but didn't.
I feel like a lot of these are going to be ones I don't appreciate because I don't have the context. Here's one I listen to on its own a lot:
Introducing Pokémon's funkiest boss! I love Miror B: he's a great character with a great team (Ludicolos for days) and two great tunes. This is my favourite because it's dafter. What are the lyrics saying? Who cares? Let the music play!
(Incidentally Rum if I were going to use a theme from Superstar Saga, this would have been the day.)

I know Balla talks a lot of shit but come on, Mirror B is undeniably the business.
I had a pretty obvious one I wanted to use today but Jay sxuppered that for some bloody character creation screen music! Thankfully, one of my favourite game series is 90% bosses so it was easy to think of a replacement.

Day 16: 16-Bit Music
I'm stealing Balladeer's choice here - Shawn Michaels' theme song from WWF RAW on the Mega Drive!
This was just a case of me having a peek in my cupboard, scanning my Mega Drive games (because it's better than the SNES), seeing WWF RAW and immediately remembering what a belter this was.

ACHT YOU BASTARD Guess I'll go with:
I was going to pick an FFIV tune (after Mas stole the best SNES FF, for music anyway. See: Dancing Mad, Cyan, Setzer), but none of them are as good as this banger from Gunstar Heroes. Just a good heroic mood-setting piece. Not the most memorable piece for me, but nobody actually wants to jam to Bravoo Man's special brand of nonsense.

Mizutsune is the one MonHun piece I know and that's because it's great.
Is that Snatcher pick really 16-bit? It's incredible! Doesn't sound 16-bit at all. Love this, some properly funky jazz.
I'm actually a pretty into the Shawn Michaels theme too! More obviously 16-bit, but it's got a tune I can jam to. I thought I wasn't going to enjoy today because of the soundsets, but that looks like it's going to be subverted.

That Sonic one was a lot of fun. Very Saturday Morning Cartoon. The Ristar track had solid space vibes, big fan of that.
Snatcher's music is absolutely ace but Mas you have to mention it when you start a new day because I was pretty confused! That's my second favourite version of Shawn Michaels' theme, after the one in which Vince McMahon does the vocals. Gunstar Heroes is exciting enough stuff. I approve.

16 Bit Music
My first thought when I see the words 16-bit is Super Mario World, but much as I love all the music in that game it doesn't really show off Nintendo's musc chops and all those tunes have better versions in later games. I then thought about Street Fighter II and actually had Guile's Theme iny clipboard ready to go.
Then this came up in my recommendations and it is justcracking. I'd not actually played the OG Starfox until it hit Switch this year and as it happens, I really fucking love it. This track is just exciting and like the little ride it takes me on.

Catch up thoughts in the form of daily brain dumps:
Day 12: Music that makes you sad:
I like Cappa's choice mainly because it doesn't rely on melancholic piano tinkling to convey 'sad', although there is some piano in there. Same with Balla's pick - there's some tinkly piano but it's some good sad string action... though I don't actually really like the vocals. Jay's Mother 3 pick is back to tinkly piano - sort of sad, but to someone who hasn't played it it sounds a bit more ponderous instead...! Jimbob's choice gives me very 'creepy ghost children in a church' vibes. Treesmurf's is probs my favourite variant on sad tinkly piano music (from a very incongruous game), followed by gjones'.
Day 13: Music you like from a game you don't like:
Journey has a lully lully cello. I've never played it but can definitely see why it's a game that would fit this category. Also Green Hill Zone, classique choice! I've never had the interest to finish Sonic 1 either. Sidon is a ledge (though his tune is a bit nondescript), and it will always be funny that mas thinks BotW is bum but GRIS is good. The Sticker Star piece is funky - I've never heard it (it's the one Paper Mario game I've never played), though I reckon there are probably other tunes from its OST I'd like more! The BioShock Infinite piece is fine, but I've never been a fan of morose-solo-singer-with-an-acoustic-garden tunes (but on another note, yes, it's totally the weakest of the BioShock trilogy - mas doesn't like BotW and likes GRIS, so). DMC2 is a very fitting tune I think, in that I can totally see how it fits the action and aesthetic of a game like that (although it's not something I'd choose to listen to!). Ecco's tune is like its own little time capsule! So 90s. I like that choice a lot. And that Mazza Tennis pick is a good one too, very Mario Kart! Banjo-Kazooie - I mean, it's very Banjo-Kazooie.
Day 14: Music featuring vocals:
I'll preface this by saying I don't especially like a lot of songs with vocals in video games, in that they're usually not songs I would ever feature on a Spotify playlist, say. That Metal Gear track from mas is fine - yeah, quite James Bondy. Same for Buska's choice - fine, but not the kind of thing I'd listen to! Balla's Odyssey choice is good - I remember being surprised by a Mario game having such a poppy song in the soundtrack but somehow it worked. Then Cappa's - definitely my favourite so far. The ricochet sound effects and the reggae vibe? Killing it (with your gun). Jimbob's is fun too - prefer that to the Metal Gear ones for sure...! I Am Bread's piece is like another capsule but to the glory days of Weebl's Stuff.
Day 15: Boss battle music:
One-Winged Angel is a great piece. I've never played FFVII but I know it has some slap-up tunes. I do like the original too, never mind that orchestral version. The Sonic theme is the epitome of how naff the Sonic series OSTs are, at least from the early 2000s onwards. Kind of iconic. The Ristar one is cool, I can definitely see it getting me pumped (matron) too! The Miror B pick is something I wouldn't have expected Balla to pick, but it's fun. Doesn't really give me boss vibes though...? But maybe that's the point! I will say I preferred Cappa's Ristar pick though! Buska's pick is a jam - reminds me of some of the boss battle themes from Okami too (unsurprisingly I guess, all Japanese and that innit).
Day 16: 16-bit music:
That's a funky choice mas - very cheesy, and it totally works. Similarly cheesy pick Cappa, and I'm into it. I think Balla's Gunstar Heroes pick edges you both out though! Not that it's a competition, but it's a jam. And so is Corneria! BAM... BAM BAM BAM BAM... BAM... BAM BAM!
Was it worth doing all that rambling? Oh well.
My picks for the past couple of days:
Day 15: Boss battle music
Not necessarily my favourite boss music ever but I do really love this bop from Cadence of Hyrule - not least because of the way the music builds layers with the regular "plink plink plonk" of the glockenspiel as you're fighting. Really fun fight, too.
Day 16: 16-bit music
This is a tune I could have used for "music you constantly have stuck in your head" too but I decided today was the day for Super Mario RPG!

YOU ARE MY SPIRIT ANIMAL! This is the best, and I was going to pick to pick this either for boss music or stuck in head music, as I tend to sing it to myself when I get up and do something. OK, well in that case I'm going to pick the William Tell Overture from Little King's S- RUM
Right. Boss music for me then... er... I've nicked a big'n. Sorry.
Earthbound - the Sanctuary Guardian music This really is early on in gaming history to be doing homages, but this is essentially a remix (and an implied real-life remix with all the tape loop sounds etc.) of one of the battle themes from the original Mother. I didn't realise this at the time, having only played the first game recently. This game was ahead of its time.
Speaking of which. 16-bit music. The Atari ST. I know you were all going to pick this one:
Captain Blood - opening theme - Ethnicolor by Jean-Michel Jarre One of the first video game music themes with big-o samples in. A variation of the second half of Jean-Michel Jarre's 1984 song Ethnicolor, which was itself pioneering in using sampled speech (various obscure indigenous languages) as percussion. However, the full version is absolutely unlistenable - even less listenable than the thing I made you click on in the first place. Someone really needs to grab the rights to all this and make a better version - like the game itself, everything is almost brilliant but really a bit shit.

Day 14: Music Featuring Vocals
I've already played into one Jay cliché by busting out Mother 3... might as well go for another.
Poppy as all hell, and I love it. There's a plethora of TWEWY tracks I could have gone for, but I think most that have played the game will have gone for this one as a standout.
Day 15: Boss Battles
God, this track gets me pumped up. The build-up leading into the actual fight is as important as the track itself in my opinion. It syncs up perfectly with the cutscene shown in the video and it is exhilarating stuff. The guitar at around the 3 minute mark is brilliant too. God, this track just makes me want to punch out some yakuza.
Day 16: 16 bit music
An absolute bop. God, this track just makes me want to punch out some goons.
Question - how much do you think the music had to play in the success of Streets of Rage? I personally think it's a big part of the appeal.
Day 17: Music You Never Get Tired Of
Another heart pumping, exhilarating tune. I loved hearing this track every time it played in Ace Attorney. God, this track just makes me want to punch out some lawyers.

NNNNOOOOO THIS WAS THE ONE TRACK I WAS REALLY HOPING NOBODY WOULD PICK! I was going to use it for 'music that gets you pumped' and you literally said 'pumping' in your description Well, excellent track choice nonetheless.
Jimbob - while I am sorry to have picked some of your picks, I am happy to hear we are kindred spirits and look forward to spending our lives together as new best friends. We can listen to that batshit tune from Captain Blood over and over.
I could have picked most of the tunes from Undertale for today (but which dickhead picked that days ago?) and I was originally thinking about using the Katamari Damacy theme (until I realised it had such beautiful vocals that I could use for the vocal day), so I figured today was maybe time for the RPG battle tune that I didn't use on THAT day, because no matter how often it played in-game I never got sick of it:
I also saw a bunch of memes on Twitter recently using this in the background and I am happy that Superstar Saga is still floating around there in the public consciousness!

I think it definitely deserves some credit - it's great to bop along to when you're basically repeating the same thing over and over for an hour. But if you compare Streets of Rage to any other side-scrolling brawler from the time, it's just so much better. Streets of Rage is still a quality game, even without a great soundtrack. Streets of Rage 3 is proof of that.

Love this tune - it's the theme from the Germany courses in Neo Turf Masters for Neo Geo and Arcade!
For the minute-and-a-half that it lasts, it's like three songs in one. I bloody love the arse off of all of Neo Turf Masters, but this tune is especially great.

Jay's choice is an ALL TIMER but I agree that it deserved to be used for the "getting pumped" day. Mas has chosen an all time classic but I'm not sure if its a song I can listen to over and over for fun, which is what today is all about. Mario and Luigi unsurprisingly has a quality soundtrack. And Cappa's pick is the best thing that ever came out of golf.
The rumour I'd heard was that the song was originally commissioned for Vince to use for himself.
I honestly find it weird to hear the other version now.

Time for some catching up!:
Mario Tennis Ultra Smash - This definitely sounds more like a racing game, Cappa. It has ups and downs like a hilly course, but then I guess that could apply to a game of tennis - the most back-and-forth/up-and-down sport one could argue.
Metal Gear Solid 3 - Very Bond, which even the name "Snake Eater" sounds like a James Bond film. Genuinely want to try this game based off of this alone.
Metal Gear Solid 5 - Whereas Mas' choice as like the start of a Bond film, this sounds like the music over the credits as I stagger out of the cinema. Both great pieces - I was expecting something more cheesy but these were class.
Super Mario Odyssey - This, ironically, sounds like something out of a sonic Adventure game. They really took Mario somewhere else with this one - Odyssey is on my list of games to pick up so I have no idea how this fits into a Mario game!
Cannon Fodder - LOL brilliant. The shooting sound effects too! This is bonkers. "Jon Hare as Vera Lynn"
Banjo Threeie Nuts & Bolts - I remember this game being alright, need to try it again. Definitely sounds like a Banjo game, albeit one that's more polished and HD.
Full Throttle - I had to check what Full Throttle was, and seeing a big Harley made sense. Enjoyed this more than I thought I might.
Kirby 64 - Not my cup of tea this one, very full on and ravey. Interesting that it's in a Kirby game, but then if it's a boss I can see how this would make the game tenser.
Katamari Damacy - Just as barmy as the game and I can imagine learning this after a number of playthroughs
Final Fantasy 7 - Crikey. What a way to kick off Boss themes. Can understand why this is an iconic one.
I Am Bread - Very Bloodhound Gang. Very silly. Yet very funny
Sonic Adventure - I always found the SA music cheesy at the time, but looking back, I think it's because the voice-acting was more than anything. This bangs, and I like that it includes that title theme nod.
Ristar - Fascinating how many Mega Drive games have been selected instead of SNES ones. This is another stonking pick that I have little memory of, but the way SEGA structured their tracks is straight out of a 90s Dance Music 101 book.
Pokemon Colosseum - Enjoyed this, felt like a mix of Mario Sunshine and Samba de Amigo.
Monster Hunter - This is clearly very Japanese, but didn't sound much like boss music. I think it's because the image of a ferocious monster had me expecting a similarly scary piece.
Snatcher - Good Lord, this might be my favourite one so far! Impossible not to nod my head to - very Beverly Hills Cop.
WWF Raw - That's brilliant, but mostly because I know the song already. Also, when was Shawn Michaels' special move the slingshot suplex?
Gunstar Heroes - That electronic keyboard effect remidns meo f Alien Storm - that was used a lot during this era. Considering the relentless shooting on screen, this is an apt backdrop.
Starfox - Great choice, but I actually used this for Opening Levels day.
Cadence of Hyrule - This feels like quite a diverse piece - it could sit in a Space harrier shooter, an F-Zero racer or a scrolling slasher. Very enjoyable stuff.
Super Mario RPG - Tis a classic melody this one. Definitely sounds like an RPG, although I get a bit of Inspector Gadget coming through too.
Earthbound - This actually reminds me of Streets of Rage, therefore, it's cracking!
Captain Blood - I feel like I'd need to be some hallucinogens to appreciate this more - it's very 'out there'.
The World Ends With You - Not sure about the lyrics, but this is definitely a banger.
Yakuza 0 - This had a bit of the modern WWE about it. Proper NXT wrestler feel. Lvoe it
Streets of Rage 2 - The Greatest of All Time. Enough said. Damn you though, as I was going to use SOR2 for my Boss battle.
Ace Attorney - I love that a game about the legal system has tunes like this in it. Another series I need to explore.
Mario Kart Wii - Of all the Mario Kart tunes, this one surprised me. Maybe because I didn't play much of Wii at the time, but this is cracking.
Ocarina of time - Yeah this is timeless, one of the best. Still sounds great today, yet also takes me back to the N64 era immediately.
Superstar Saga - This is cool, bit repetitive in my opinion.
Neo Turf Masters - Did I just walk onto a golf course or the back of seedy snooker club? Either way, I like what i'm hearing. Music is particularly important in a golf game.
Day 14: Featuring vocals
I struggled with this one. I thought, this is tricky. Tricky, tricky, tricky. And then it came to me! Can't beat a bit of Run-DMC.
Day 15: Boss battle
When Death Adder bursts through the doors to this (*shits pants*)
Day 16: 16-bit
Ah, we cannot forget the greatness of the Chrono Trigger soundtrack. This is my favourite track, as I stroll through the forest hacking at giant eyes and the like.
Day 17: Music you never get tired of
I never tire of the Pikmin "End of the Day" music. So comforting.

I'll do a good old catch up later on I think, some great picks I'd say though.
Day 16: 16-bit
This could have gone on nostalgia day, as soon as I come across this I instantly felt like a kid again. The main reason I include it though is for the fact it sounds like it belongs on a beat em up rather than a Football game.
I previously chose...:
This rather lovely sounding song from first Sonic game, it's one that gives me big nostalgia feels again.
Day 17: Music you never get tired of
Is this allowed? I was finding it hard to pick this one, there's lots of songs I could pick but they've either been used, had similar versions posted or would be perfect for a different category, who doesn't love the Wii Shop Channel music though?
I also don't get tired of this...:
Last time I went with title theme for Ark: Survival Evolved. It's not a particularly quick game in terms of booting it up and getting in to a game so I had plenty of opportunities to listen to this, it also reminds me of the Stargate SG-1 theme which can only be a good thing.

I love the Pikmin soundtracks and listening to that track just filled me with so many nostalgic feelings.
Tricky and the Wii Shop Channel are both ALL TIMERS, no doubt about that.
The Golden Axe one reminded me of an 80s TV opening, like Tripods or something.
And oh bugger, I actually scanned the list for Starfox and didnt see it. I bet the algorithm only threw it at me because I listened on Opening Level day then. D'oh!
I guess Guile's Theme was my 16 bitter after all.
