I'm almost scared to go to another site about Pokemon right now. I mean we all knew this was happening, after that guy who leaked them and a bunch of other stuff had everything else confirmed and Sylveon to boot it was obvious. But I'm sure the people who were in denial are going to be going nuts over this.

Marill a Fairy type?? Not sure about that

It makes sense actually. Marill has always been part of the Fairy egg group. The one that had me surprised was Gardevoir, that is not in the Fairy egg group unlike the other two old Pokemon shown.

I'm assuming the likes of Marill will keep their original types and become dual type so It'll be Fairy/Water. I'm looking forward to this a whole lot more now that they've confirmed this, even this pokemon-amie thingy looks kinda interesting.

Would Ralts and Kirlia be in that group?

Almost certainly. Can't wait to catch a Gardevoir again, and Moonblast the dragons into oblivion.

None of that line is in the Fairy egg group. Here's a list of all current Fairy egg group Pokemon. http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-bw/egg/fairy.shtml

It's probably safe to assume most of these Pokemon with only a single type are going to get retyped in to part fairy. Gardevoir opens the flood gates however. If Gardevoir is getting it I wonder if the Lake trio from gen 4 are going to get retyped, they do look a lot like fairies after all.

This new type is addressing the dragon types, but is it likely to upset any other balance with its introduction? I'm not big into ramifications within the metagame.

Rumoured to be super effective against Ice as well, which will really screw over Ice types.

Well, just in the way that Steel and Dark were introduced to sort out Psychic, and now Fairy is there to sort out Dragon. Won't a new type just bugger something else up somewhere in the chain? Such is the way it goes.

I say, remove all types bar Fire, Water and Grass. That'll sort it.

Lotsa new stuff, including some nice new Pokémon (Noivern looks great! Skrelp... not so much), Sky Battles (whatever they are), and being able to ride Rhyhorn.

After seeing that Noivern Pokémon, I'm surprised we got fairy type and so sound type.

Whoa, hoard encounters?  Those sound dangerous for Nuzlocke runners.

Also I doubt Fairy types will damage the metagame all that much.  The meta is already highly imbalanced as is, with those weather abilities completely screwing it up.  I honestly wish Smogon would just ban the three of them already, lord knows they've spent enough time banning the parts that make them broken.  Excadril was only banned because of Sandstream, same for garchomp before he had a second ability released.  And you can't use Swift Swim if you carry a Politoed with Drizzle.  It just feels to me like they're wasting so much banning the symptoms of the problem when they could solve all of this by banning the abilities.

But of course that would mean things they like abusing get banned, so of course they will never ban them.  Honestly I find Smogon to be a hypocritical at times.  Rain and sandstorm even now screw over a lot of Pokemon and lend a huge advantage to the team with the weather effect.
