| After seeing pokemon direct, I did a little thinking on mega evolutions.
While at first I was apprehensive I now believe that it will add a deeper layer of strategy to the game. My reason for thinking this is that mega evolutions can change the type and ability of the pokemon.
Take Venusaur for example, while I might not be completely accurate, his ability changes to thick fat upon mega evolution. thick fat reduces damage from fire and ice attacks, which just so happen to be Venusaurs weaknesses.
The potential of this aspect of the game is great. |

The potential of this aspect of the game is great. Venasaur is going to be pretty tough to deal with to be honest. The fact mega evolutions don't take effect until the battle starts means the opponent can make you think they're going to be carrying the deadly Sunny Day team set ( capable of disemboweling a team not prepared for it) or a horrifically bulky set that you'll need a really strong psychic attack to deal with. I'm honestly a little worried about this, if you guess wrong the thing is going to cause huge damage to a team. All up I like the idea of these mega evolutions, as it has the potential to make Pokemon that have long since lost their relevance in the game relevant again. Update Breaking News from Corocoro and rumours! - Hidden for those that like their games blind, includes Fairy type info:
Mewtwo has a second Mega Evolution and will be Psychic/Fighting, Garhcomp is also getting one and will have the ability Sand Force (because it wasn't broken enough as it is).
The starters are also all going to be the single type when evpolved, no duel types this time.
And now for the Fairy Type information. I'm just going to copy and past Serebii's part for this. He also listed the Fairy-type chart. According to this, Fairy is Super Effective on Fighting, Dark and Dragon and not effective on Fire, Poison or Steel. It also states that it is weak to Poison and Steel while resists Fighting, Dark and Bug. It is immune to Dragon. However, as this is not pictured yet, don't take it as 100% confirmed.
So yeah. Take that with a bit of a pinch of salt, but it looks good I must say. |

| *sees starters* Umm... hmm... well, um, they at least look unique? Also that garchomp, I do not like it. I think. I shall raise one and I shall nickname it Overkill. I like Mewtwo's new form though. |

| Don't go much on Chespin's evolution, hope it's final is better as that is going to be my starter on my main game mainly as I will be using the Torchic and will be getting Squirtle |

| Those evolutions for the starters are pretty bad. Froakie's is okay, I guess. |

| Fenniken's isn't bad in fact I think its even slightly better then Froakies (kinda looks like Lucario to an extent), but like I said Chespin ain't so great. |

| So they finally made a T-rex and Lion Pokemon, it's about time I have to say. I hope the T-rex is actually good, he probably won't be but I wouldn't mind him on my online team if he is. I wonder if they'll finally cave and also give us a Dolphin Pokemon as well. They could make it a cute Water/Fairy type if they did. |

| A Dolphin Pokemon sounds awesome.
Still unsure what I'll choose as my starter, Froakie seems my favourite as Water types usually are but I also plan to get Squirtle because he's just ace as well, tough decisions. |

| Same I was going Fennekin as I always go fire but now I can have a Charmander. I'm not sure to have Chespin or a Froakie but if that's Chespins final form it looks crap, Froakie could be my guy. |
