Two weeks to go and aside from the starter forms and types I have absolutely no idea what's in the game. Media blackout success is imminent... *looks forward*

Part of me is glad I saw it though. It has completely made me reconsider my starter. What were they thinking?!

...now I'm worried. But I shall press on, and learn from my mistakes if need be! PokéMankind only advances through its failures!

Don't worry, Balla, I think they're all fine. But I suppose the Pokemon design argument is one that comes up every generation...

Next generation, Game Freak should just hit the "random article" button on Wikipedia until they get an article with a picture, then design a Pokémon around that. Rinse and repeat.

I won't say much about the leaked designs I saw other than UGH.
Also, anyone taken a gander at the Pokemon Origins anime?

I've seen the clip where Red's Charmander is getting savaged by that Squirtle

That made me feel bad for every time I used Bite in the Pokemon games.

How brutal is this new anime, out of interest? If you get to see the flecks of blood spurting from Charmander's arm, I might actually be interested.
Alternatively, Beedrill using String Shot to swoop in behind Onix and using Cut on its neck, because I'm suffering from a chronic lack of Titan-slaying at the moment.

No blood, but the screaming and the indication that Charmander nearly dies (implied by his tail flame almost being extinguished) is heavier than anything I remember seeing as a kid watching the anime.
Here's the clip:

That is... the most tortured Pokémon noise I've ever heard.
Anyway, CVG have given the games a 9 in an almost spoiler-free review. The only monsters referenced are the ones everyone knows about, although they do show one new character and detail some new training methods. (I have not scrolled through the screenshot gallery, mind.)
Pokémon Amie:
My curiosity is piqued by the Pokémon Amie affecting luck, though. How's that going to work into competitive Pokémon? Can't imagine an increase in evasion going down well on Smogon...

One week to go. To celebrate here's a wallpaper of Yveltal and another of Xerneas (I'm using the Xerneas one right now despite preferring Yveltal). Just click on the images if you want to download the full sizes, keeping forum speeds in mind I used forum code for them so they're basically tiny in terms of file size, the actual images are basically 1080p.
And some wallpapers of the game generally including the adorable starters, they're all spoiler free. I cropped out the boring "Out October 12 Worldwide" part.
More wallpapers:
I'm basically super hyped for these games right now. Like, critical levels of hype. I haven't been this excited for a Pokemon game for years, but the overhauls that have been done have finally awakened my child side and I'm practically a little kid again right now waiting.

Nowhere near Attack on Titan levels.
But a more mature product than the Ash Ketchum anime at least.

Clearly the embargo has been lifted because reviews are everywhere now. It even got an 8 from EDGE and a 9 from GameCentral so it must be good.
Edit: Just spent the past hour or so looking at all the leaks because I don't really mind spoiling it for myself and I am psyyyched.

Not X/Y related, but I happened to really like this comic. Especially frame two.

I'm a little happier about the games' imminent releases now, but I still won't be picking my copy (copies?) up until mid-November at the earliest. I look forward to reading what everyone else has to say about 'em, though.
EDIT
Just seen the starter evolutions. Whu does Chespin's final form look like Buzz Lightyear?

I really like some of the new type combinations that have appeared. (That's not a spoiler, right?)

I've tried to avoid reading too much into reviews so I can play knowing little about the changes, but wow does the online functionality in this sound amazing? Really good use of that second screen.

This is the only part of the internet I'll read about Pokémon right now. You guys are mostly pretty cool.
Man, I'm excited. I've been watching through the movies in anticipation (watching the Darkrai one as I type this).

Are they any good? I remember loving the original, but I was in single figures at the time.
