| Now it's autumn.
I took a suitcase on a thirty minute walk yesterday and the contents got soaked, biblically. It's actually drier in Edinburgh (where I am now) than in London as well. |

| That's disappointing that you weren't in Edinburgh last week, it was roasting. I was in the city too, so I could have taken you to all the chicken dippers sophisticated wine bars. |

| I'd have loved to, and unfortunately would have had basically no time to. It was conferences all day and actuarial drinks all night. I'm not sure whether I'm still hungover or whether the pendolinos are terrible for people with motion sickness. |

| I finished work at 4 today (instead of 7:30) because Nagano has had its first life-or-death Typhoon warning in like 50 years.
So far, my typhoon experience has been people getting angry that the school is still open, people getting angry that the school isn't open, and getting soaked on the way home in pissing rain and winds which render an umbrella pointless.

| Ooft, nasty. Stay safe Drunka. Autumn's properly settled in and it's awfully damp here, but not like that. |

| I was personally absolutely fine. A few colleagues had trouble - a bridge collapse stranded Matt, someone's apple farm was ruined and so on. |

This sounds like something a hobbit would say. |

| And the hobbits, of course, end up causing trouble and harm for the rest of the Fellowship anyway. |

| I've dodged them so far, which of course now means that I'm going to come down with one next week after posting this. |

| If I wasn't so disgustingly English this would be reason enough to move to Scotland. So so jealous of your pishing rain. |

| That sounds glorious, I'm very much the gaming stereotype in that I think the sun and warm weather is rubbish, give me rain over scorching heat any day. |

| Really? I was listening to the cricket from Old Trafford and they kept going off for rain, so I assumed Manneh wasn't as bad. |

| The best weather is when it's warm, but there's a drizzle in the air to keep you cool during the day.
Thunderstorms in the evening/night.
Mist in the morning.
Not a huge fan of the heat in general as I find it oppressive more than anything else. It's bearable in places like Louisiana because you get sudden storms and downpours all the time to cool you off (and you see all these natives dash for the nearest building/car and Ima like, this is glorious.)

| This is my ideal but it's usually so rare, when it's warm it's usually for really long spells and then the thunderstorms basically mean it's gonna be cold and wet from then onwards. - Balladeer wrote:

It may have been whilst I was in work but from the moment I finished the heat was turned all the way up, some would see this as lucky and I'm clearly ungrateful but that's just me. |

Yeah, it was about that here yesterday (though the humidity makes it feel hotter). I walked 45km and climbed a mountain. Also, look at this post from Balla in October 2019: - Balladeer wrote:

| I like not having a cold and my eczema not playing up, but on balance I like being able to sleep more. Walking's fine(ish, you do you re. the mountains), it's getting back and trying to lie down that's the problem! |

| I do have some sympathy for Brits because I remember not having functional AC. On the other hand, summer is pretty short and never too hot, so make the most of it!
One of the reasons for my big hike was to get a good nights sleep before returning to work but it didnt really happen. I guess i drank too many sugarry drinks. |

| Dehydration and lack of sleep is a terrible combination. And yep, no AC. Wish I could go into the office... |

| In Edinburgh at the moment there's been a mega thunderstorm that's lasted for several hours now. I've never seen such persistent lightning strikes in Scotland before - literally multiple times a minute. It's nuts, and I love it! |
