Doctor Who Thread

A new doctor is being revealed this weekend, and I just know that it would dominate either the TV or news threads and annoy all the non-fans no end.  So here's a thread all about almost everyone's favourite time traveller.  Any preferences for a new doctor?  I'd quite fancy a woman myself (ahem).

As for the new Doc I'm to sure who I want it to be, I did like the prospect of Hugh Laurie

Yes - in The Doctor's Wife, The Doctor talked about a fellow Time Person called The Corsair, who had both male and female regenerations. With that in mind, a while ago I had a theory about it being Jenna-Louise Coleman - the impossible girl was just following the Doctor around so that she could regenerate into him. Don't worry, I've ditched that since!

My girlfriend showed me a news article that said that the favourite was Chiwetel Ejiofor (here). I would be well up for that. To be fair, I don't really mind as long as it's a cracking episode. Cracking episodes have been in short supply recently.

Well then, I now know when to start avoiding this place.  Call me weird but I want to find out who the Doctor is when he regenerates, it's how both the other regenerations I've seen have gone and I want it to stay that way.

Besides, all the talk of the next Doctor reminds me my favourite is about to leave.  

I'm hoping for an older Doctor this time - I got very excited when John Hurt was revealed, as it seems like ages since we've had a middle-aged Doctor. The mention of Peter Capaldi was an excellent choice - although, like previous Doctors, I can fully see this going to a relatively unknown actor.

Yeah I'd like an older doctor, how about Stephen Fry? That won't happen but it would be cool!

I'll take anyone on that list. Just not Piper, I've grown tired of her. I'm still excited to see who it is and as for the Fry being the next doctor, that'd just be...fabulous?

Agreed with Piper: I didn't like her much even as a companion. She's an outside bet, fortunately.

Probably just another rumour. Besides, if he did become ginger he wouldn't be able to complain about not being ginger like he normally does

She's not really relevant anymore... still, Bernard Cribbens is a guest, so nothing is lost.

Also, a beardless Rufus Hound is a weird thing.

Personally flabbergasted. I saw the news on Twitter as I was at my girlfriend's parents and part of me still feels it's an incredibly elaborate wind-up. I'd be doing a delighted jig if there were not a laptop on my, well, lap.

Apparently he's been in Doc Who before in the Pompeii episode and in children of earth

I'm honestly not very familiar with this Capaldi chap, but he seems like a decent enough guy for the job judging by the short interview on the show and the general reaction of everyone. Looking forward to the Christmas special
