It's not gonna be Animal Crossing though. If I've learnt anything with my gaming habits in the last few years it's that I'm a huge fan of crafting games so it's quite exciting to see that as an important feature in this. I feel like there's a lot more to see till we can get a proper idea of what this is but it looks like they're going in a new direction. |

| I wonder if the crafting might endear me to this a bit more. It sounds fun! Like furniture you can do stuff with. |

| I'm really interested in this - it seems to have more of a focus and an objective than previous Animal Crossing games, which will likely do the job in hooking me into its world. Once I'm there, I'm sure the same cosiness and wholesome fun will have me staying a while on what I'll definitely be calling Nowhere Island in a bid to will a western port of Mo- ah, who am I kidding... Also, I request a name change for the thread considering the game has a name now and also quite clearly isn't town based anymore. |

| I reckon it's not town-based... initially. It looks like the island expands its capacity rapidly - or at least that's what the trailer showed.
(I should probably have watched a treehouse thing) |

. . . the worst possible thing they could do to Animal Crossing! But this does actually look like a decent little twist on the formula. Much as I loved the ones I played before, I'm glad this will feel a little different from just playing New Leaf again. |

| I'd say the objectives will be much like developing the town was an objective in New Leaf. It'll be a case of "if you want this then you need to go get this and that to make it" rather than "you'll need this many bells that you and the villagers can contribute except the villagers will only contribute pennies and you'll have to foot the entire bill only for everyone in the town to get credit for completing it".
Anyway... my only concern so far is the size of the island although as Jimbob says it looks like it should expand so that'll be fine. |

Maybe so for some, but it's the most interested I've been in AC, well, ever and having a hook like that to rope me into the cosiness of the world is great news. I'm sure it won't be a check box exercise like you're playing a Ubisoft open world game or what have you. |

| It’s probably for the best that this was delayed into next year. From the developer’s point of view, there’d be nothing good to come from them working their bollocks off to rush this out for later this year. From a player’s point of view, Animal Crossing is honestly a much more interesting game in the spring, summer and autumn – I remember Nintendo released Let’s Go Into The City at the start of a December, when there were no bugs to catch or events to celebrate during the winter (there was no Toy Day in the version). From my point of view, New Horizons would take up all my play time in 2019, when there’s loads of other stuff that I’d like to enjoy.
Trying to think about it rationally, I’m all right with this being put back to 2020. It’s looking very promising for now though. |

I hadn't actually thought about it that way, but you raise a bloody good point! - Quote :

And that, obviously. |

That's just reminded me of the tickets they introduced in the Amiibo update of New Leaf, they were pretty neat, they obviously made it a bit more checkboxy but not so much that it intruded on the rest of the game, it still made me play it that bit more. |

| That's interesting to know that the Amiibo update made a difference. I'd checked out by that point; however, my mum's started playing her version again, following the excitement of the new one coming up. She's asking me questions about this, and I have no idea! |

| This is where you can make up all sorts of news about it under the assumption she won't be checking up on it. |

| Oh you guys! She has a second character called Mrs. Bun, so she can turn a house into a tea and cake shop. That's so cute |

| I'm on my phone so sorry for lack of pictures but a special edition Switch was announced this morning.
I'm a little disappointed as Animal Crossing to me is the big Switch game left, and a game I would be tempted to get Switch again for, that I was hoping for Lite as for £200 for what I'd play on it, it be fine but nope it's a proper Switch which looks okay.
Just feel they could have done more than black with stickers on it, if it was a Lite as well. |

| It's beautiful and I want to avoid my bills to own one!
I am surprised they haven't gone for a Lite though, Animal Crossing always seems more popular on handhelds so would have made sense getting the new punters in with that. |

| All the 3DS range looked great and what I imagined a Lite would sort of look like and it would be around £200 ish, where the Classic Switch is £320 that's a big difference. |

This post has aged really well. Absolutely the game the world needs right now. |

| I bought a UK copy digitally so I can't play until 9am Japan time. Trying to get my lunch made and have my shower and all that before then so I can get 3 hours in before work |
