Yeah I'll definitely check out everyone's islands. My island is so-so but I have a pretty nice house.

I'm not that fussed by dreams and fireworks, but this leak if true could be what gets me back into the game...

Over a million people in Scotland are about to re-enter the Animal Crossing phase of lockdown later tonight, so I thought it'd be appropriate to bump this thread with news of the latest update:
New items, additional storage space and Save Data Transfers are fine and dandy, but really, it's all about that new Toy Day remix that gets played thirty seconds into that trailer. That'll be getting played on a loop for the next six weeks

Sorry about the lockdown Cappa. If it's any consolation (doubtful) it's what the English government should be doing, I'm pretty sure.
My sister's still playing this, so so am I. I'll be looking forward to Animal Christmas Toy Day then!

We are but from work you wouldn't know that based on the queues for Black Friday stuff and people in there just generally.

It's lockdown but not lockdown. It's almost like Boris Johnson doesn't want to pass unpopular policies, even if they're the right ones for the country, because he's a spineless moron.
Anyone got this month's new deep sea animals? They've eluded me so far. I've just ended up with lots of Venus' flower baskets.

Possibly but after stressing too much earlier in the year at the idea of missing certian creatures I've gone for the more relaxed approach of not trying or even really researching what's new and what's leaving. This is all very contradictory considering I haven't finished Crown Tundra because I'm actively shiny hunting the Regis.

That's a good philosophy... the shiny Regis not so much.
How was Turkey Day? I completely missed it.

It was alright, typical fetch quest that it usually is I think, always nice to have the change for these events though, they gave out more recipes than actual furniture pieces which I think I prefer because it at least means you can share the wealth with other players who missed it.
Here's a thought, do we think they'll have the events exactly the same next year or will they change up how they work or at the very least what you get from them? They've said they want to keep the game going longer this time around and that'd be a huge step towards doing so.

I quite enjoyed Turkey Day! Foraging for dinner ingredients was a different twist from the likes of Halloween and Toy Day, and it had it's own soundtrack, dialogue, animations and rewards. It was nothing mind blowing, but it was better here than in any Animal Crossing before it.
It suddenly started to snow on my island when the clock hit 9am this morning, and immediately all the villagers changed into winter clothes and started chatting about how cold it was. Nice touches, but the nicest of all was the remixed music, with it's extra little jingles that make it sound a bit more festive and winter-ey.

Ooh, that sounds lovely. Now that I've finished my writing I need to get on that.

It's a good question, and one I can't answer. A 'traditional' Animal Crossing would repeat the same events, and if I had to put money on one side or another, that's where I'd come down. This feels like a hybrid of that and a live service game, though, so I'm not sure.

I also liked the redesigned Turkey Day furniture and stuff - in previous iterations it was a bit garish, but e.g. the floor actually works as a nice unique flooring you'd have in your house. And I'm enjoying the toys in December!
As for the question of next year: at the moment, there's still such a high regular user base that I reckon they'll mix things up a little bit. I know they're planning some Mario stuff at the start of next year, so maybe actually we'll just get extra bits in the middle. tl'dr: I think yes and no, thus not answering the question at all

I think a meteor will hit your island on the game's first anniversary and you'll have to start from scratch.

I've finally got all the bugs! And the fish! And have just three sea creatures left! Just need to clock those up before the meteor hits. Anyway, here's me and my sis celebrating Chrimbo:

I've never actually done that in an Animal Crossing, Balla, despite my many hundreds of hours of playtime. Much respect to you.

Thanks! I reckon once I have those three creatures I'll be stopping with this. I've only been playing it more over Christmas because I've been connecting more with my sister, who's still pretty mad about it.
Still: Redd came last night, which was nice.

I reckon I could probably go for a full Pokédex encyclopedia, been trying to be chilled with it but I'm so close it'd be nice to see it through.
I had a moment yesterday that I've had a few times on this version where the amount that my flowers have bred has gone beyond the point of me caring enough to tidy them up, have flowers always bred so vigorously? I did feel the urge today to do a bit of tidying but I'm very tempted to just purge all of my patches completely because they're near unstoppable.

Urgh, the flowers are a nightmare. I'm leaving them where they are just in case I get up to a 5* island before I finish with the game, but especially at the moment when the snow makes them grow like Japanese knotweed I'm getting more than a bit sick of them.

There's so many flowers on my island that there's sections where you can actually see the game slowing down. I'm the same though, I'm past the point where I'm arsed to tidy them up.
Toy Day on the 24th was a really enjoyable event, and I think I've gathered all the recipes for building the Snow Folk. It's the New Year Countdown tonight, but even without other plans I'm not going to ring in the bells with a computer game. The next update isn't until late January, but I think it's just a fishing tournament for one day in between. I'll still play New Horizons until at least a year old, but I can see myself only having short playtimes each day for the next month or so.
