| Thinking of the best place to put this, and maybe here would suffice: has anyone come across Nintendo adverts before/during/after any videos in this thread? This rather baitworthy headline suggests that such things are occurring. |

| I'd say that deserves its own thread in general gaming, it's a risky route for Nintendo to take as it could lead to a massive boycott of Nintendo games even though they're technically deserve a share of the revenue but I can see the point of view from both sides. |

| Well, Jay won't like this... Balladeer's Timely Music Week 46: Final Battle, Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ckxy-i7Dc5U No contest. Just listen to Yoko Shimomura's composition of one of the best boss themes in all gaming. And anyone who says otherwise is a willy-head. |

| Is it wrong that I can't even remember the final battle in Bowser's Inside Story? Despite me loving the game. |

| Depends. Did you have the Broggy Bonker, which made it really easy and quick? If so, not really. |

| Having just Googled it, I remember the Fawful fight vividly. I didn't have the Broggy Bonker, and I'd completely forgotten about the Dark Bowser bit. It was that screenshot that threw me. |

Willy-head here. Don't get me wrong - it's a good theme, just not to my tastes. |

| I know, I know. Hope you prefer this one: Balladeer's Teeny Tiny Music Week 47: Cloud Tops, The Legend of Zelda: the Minish Cap: www.youtube.com/watch?v=4rh-_Rp7Cbw It's like the Hyrule Theme: but it's not! A great subversion. |

| That was great! I'm a sucker for themes sounding like others from previous games in their series. I reckon I heard shades of Twilight Princess's main theme in that too, harkening to the future perhaps? |

| Maybe I just like hard games but those are the best two 2d Zelda games, definitely worth pushing through to the end. |

| If there's one thing that makes me want to try that game again at some point, it's the music. It's quite pretty too, I suppose.
Anyway, I've been humming epic Super Mario Galaxy 2 tunes recently: Gloop gloop gloop. Hello? Kacaw! |

| Balladeer's Classic Music Week 48: Ghost House, Super Mario World: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8fCx1m0tQT0 My opinion: SMW doesn't have that good a soundtrack. There, I said it. There are maybe two different main themes that just get remixed again and again, and neither are real standouts. That doesn't mean that it's not memorable, though! This one, for example, is memorable because of the length of time you'll spend hearing it, while you try to figure out some of the most famously devious level design in platforming. And continuing with the SMG2 theme from my previous post, it then got an update... |

| Triple post. Honestly, how hard do I have to insult a popular game's soundtrack to get people to comment? Balladeer's Lunar Looming Music Week 49: Clock Town Day 3, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=85BjHBoHoxE I don't remember the MM soundtrack as well as some of the other Zelda games. You know why? Because it was rubbish.Okay, more like because I steamrolled through it with a guide several years after its release; but I maintain that its music isn't as memorable as the Big Three: OoT, WW and TP. Still, there's no denying that if there's one thing MM does well, it's creepy, and that extends to the music. The worst thing about this piece as that when it starts, it doesn't sound that scary - and then you hear the underlying notes. Of course, leave it too late and it abandons all pretence.Oh, and next week's music week will be on Tuesday, as a lead-up to the hype for the Direct. It'll be possibly the most epic soundtrack in Nintendo gaming. No points for guessing which one it is. You've met with a terrible fate, haven't you? |

| I can't currently hear any of these choons because I'm having major problems with Flash Player. Point taken about Super Mario World's soundtrack. As unbelievably nostalgic as I am towards it, there's not a whole lot to it when you think about it. Still an impressive package when you remember that the whole production is a launch effort, though. Imagine what could've happened if Nintendo had put as much effort into Wii U's first-party software debut. |

| Balladeer's Demi-Centurion Music Week 50: Super Mario GalaxyE3 proper starts today, and it isn't even really E3: it's a Nintendo Direct. But a Nintendo Direct announcing a new 3D Mario, no less. And I'm sure many others will be as disappointed as me, if they don't get the SMG composition team and orchestra back on board to do the music. I am going to make a bold statement: SMG has the best soundtrack of any game on a Nintendo console. I haven't played every such game, true; but people I trust (including NGamer writers) have backed this up, or said that only Brawl's medley beats it. Rubbish. With recycled tunes, no proper orchestra, and much less epic bombast, Brawl can't come close. This is the best soundtrack, and it's perfect to listen to in the run-up to what should be the most epic Nintendo presentation of recent times. 5. Melty Molten GalaxySome people just want to watch the galaxy burn. Mario turns up the heat and delivers a scorching performance, without even needing synthetic sitars. 4. Space Junk GalaxySMG takes its pedal off the floor for a moment, and finds a moment to float. It's beautiful. 3. Gusty Garden GalaxyBrass! Strings! Giant caterpillars! One of these should be the odd one out, but somehow Nintendo's magic has made the three work perfectly together. 2. Bowser's Galaxy ReactorThe journey to Bowser has never sounded so forbidding. Or violin-y. 1. Buoy Base GalaxyThere is, quite simply, no contest. Ignoring for a moment that this is one of the few galaxies with multiple routes (all two of them), or the Pokéball full of water, this epic brassy march really makes you feel like a heroic infiltrator, confronted with a Herculean but vital task. And the odd organ thing, odd though it is, only helps. Is this my favourite piece of videogame music ever? It could well be. It's what I'll have on as the Nintendo Direct starts, anyway.
Back when I made this thread, over on the NGamer forum as was, I was told in no uncertain terms by Stu and Phillips that I had to provide regular updates or this thread would flop. I responded, "I might post some of my favourite tunes, one a week for at least a year or something like that." That was on 11th June, 2012. With some help from a break over Christmas, and a special Christmas music week, I've done it. Yay me. This isn't an admission of defeat, mind you. I have more than 20 other games to post tunes from in the near future. But I might ask for some help doing the weeks...

| Okay, I'd like to ask for some help. This week's already happened, but I wondered if there are any brave souls who'd like to do a music week next weekend? It can be any one game, or any collection of games. There doesn't even have to be a theme, although it'd be nice if there was. I know Jay's done similar things in the past.
Seeing as I (currently) don't have enough games to make another whole year of weeks, it'd be nice if I could alternate with other people. It'd prevent triple posts such as this one as well! (And after Mario Galaxy too...)
In the meantime, here's the trailer to X again. Shades of TWEWY in the music much? |

| Re: the X trailer. If it's J-Pop, it'll sound like TWEWY's soundtrack.
Urm, I'd maybe be able to do some music weeks, the issue would be overlapping with games you've already covered. I'll see what I can do for next week, if you'd like. |

| That'd be great! And it doesn't matter if I've already covered the game, just so long as it's at least one piece that hasn't been centre stage (i.e. I've put up a relevant picture) before. |
