Huh, thought i'd already posted about Fire Emblem Awakening's music in here, since it's pretty darn good, but i guess not. So i'll just fix this now >_> just a few picks though, or i'd just end up posting the whole OST...i actually nearly did >_>

Yippee, more people doing musics!  As I mentioned on the previous page (when Athrun beat you to "Don't Speak Her Name" ), the music is one of the few things that makes me think I'll come back to FEA. Will listen to these when I'm somewhere that supports Youtube.

I might ask you to do a guest music week some time in the future, Silver, if you wouldn't mind! I imagine it'll feature RPGs quite heavily...

GNamer Forum/Balladeer's Music Weeks: Edition 51 - Hotel Dusk, now accepting guests (I hope you appreciated the clever guest connection here)

So, this week is focusing on DS noir-inspired visual adventure, Hotel Dusk: Room 215.



Where better to start than the opening track from the game?The music perfectly sets the tone for this noir-inspired game. As you set off in your car towards Hotel Dusk, this piano-spattered tune plays. It makes you feel a little uneasy, that all won't be as it seems at Hotel Dusk...



This track plays as Kyle Hyde ruminates over his case at points throughout the game. It's pretty perfect for its means, sounding hopeful and cheerful as Hyde approaches a conclusion to his case whilst still retaining its noir theme, that sense of unease still lurking there.



Any good noir needs a female role for our rugged protagonist to flirt with. Hotel Dusk is no different, and every time Hyde phones his contact, Rachel, this track plays. I absolutely adore the opening piano section to this, and the whole track just sounds playful.

So there you have it, three tracks from an underrated and mostly unplayed little gem.

BONUS: Tying in with Silver's Fire Emblem tracks, here's my favourite from Awakening: "You may call me Marth"

Nice!  A game I hadn't even considered, despite owning and loving it.  Will listen to the tracks when I can, but I remember the smooth piano muzak perfectly setting the theme as you wander around.  (Also a great excuse for some truly awful signature puns.)

Thanks! I always forget about it until I go through my DS collection - time for a another playthrough, I reckon.

Also, it wasn't for me either, so I replaced it with another Dusk image.

Right, beedfack.  This tune epitomises Hotel Dusk for me.  Muzak!  But fitting muzak.  Also, this one.  The ultimate "you're going down, punk" piece.  Out of the ones posted, "Rainy Night" is my favourite: I agree with the creeping unease in the background.

As for FEA, my favourite of those is probably "Conquest", but that may because it's the only one I've heard in game!  Still, I do like that guitar.  Reminds me of the map theme from FFIII, for some reason.

The done thing on this place after a couple o' drinks is to make a hilarious alternate account and post retro music, right?  Except I don't have any e-mail addresses free.  Bah.  You get some (really racist) retro music though.



Means I've got to think of something else for SML music week, but that's okay.

Comment: The beginning of the end.  I love the fact that is the message of the track.  I imagine it possibly surprises some that this is here and not the Ablaze version, simple fact is I like the quiet version more as I feel it emphasizes the sinister feel of the theme and nature of the last few chapters.

Comment: Same reasons as the last track honestly.  Also avoid the comments like the plague, the top comment is a massive late game spoiler.

Comment: Such a perfect arc boss theme.  It may be short, but it is pretty darn sweet and dramatic.  As usual I advise you to avoid the comments.

Comment: Another case of preferring the normal version.  I just love the soothing nature of the song, and it weaves the main Fire Emblem theme in beautifully at around the one and a half minute mark.

Comment: All up this is a very commanding theme.  As it should be given it mostly plays on maps against arc bosses such as Gangrel.

Okay, it's the PS2 version. Heck, the picture may not be from the Wii version either. Sue me. I've always preferred instrumental pieces to... well... almost anything with vocals, and I have fond memories on trying to get through this on medium. I managed... just. Here it is on Expert then.

Yass! I remember when Punk finally got to use this as his WWE theme I just had to fire on GH3 & play this a few times.

Also, for people who aren't Jay (sorry Jay), what have been your favourite Animal Crossing New Leaf pieces so far? This isn't a proper music week, far from it, since I haven't seen KK once yet; but I really like the Re-Tail music, which I suppose is good given how long I've spent in there.

I will get you to talk about Animal Crossing... if it's the last thing I do...

I do love the 7pm music & I think its great that the T&T mart music is the wii shop music as well.

The shop music is surprisingly dischordant.  Works well though.  Got to love that Town Hall music too.

Oops!  I'll agree, then, the 7pm music is great (as opposed to the rather annoying music from WW).  Don't worry, NL will get its week!  But I need to pester KK more before that happens.  So far I only have K.K. Hypno.

Bang goes the guest week idea, then.  I'll continue doing the weeks until I run out of games (pretty sure I'll have some great tunes from Dream Team Bros. to contribute soon).  Thanks to Jay for his efforts: the title of the music weeks shall be changed in your honour...

If we ignore the traditionally epic Rainbow Road, then seeing how many tracks share music in DD!!, this is the only real option.  A calming calypso plays while you curve between Cataquacks.  Also heard on Daisy Cruiser, but we don't talk about Daisy.

EDIT: Just realised that there's a random cow at 0:42.  

Also, a word of caution if you search for Peach Beach on Google.  Oh Internet...

That I can recall Peach Beach's track and audio from memory probably says something about it, though I won't lie that I have little fondness for Double Dash's brand of infuriation.

It's like an out-of-control roundabout: the music and the course.  I think that the world in general could do with more online Baby Park.

Couldn't agree more with those last two choices, they too are the songs that stuck with me most in that game.

Remind me, though, was the Baby Park music used in Waluigi Stadium?

I'd like to add the Mushroom Bridge and Luigi/Mario Circuit music to our Double Dash!! list, both of those are riduculously catchy. Feel like I could blurt out the music to the former, right now. Or perhaps the hot weather is getting to me.

Waluigi Stadium had its own music.  (Well, it shared it with Wario Colosseum.)  Creak creak!

What the heck, here's the full soundtrack.  I'll be honest: I didn't think it was as good as many of the other Mario Karts.  My favourite's probably MK7, although Super Circuit (which has yet to have its own week) had some gems too.  Here's one I probably won't feature that week, so I can post it now: the jaunty country stylings of Sunset Wilds. Yee-haw, etc.

Jesus, that Sunset Wilds track is gash.  

Ah yes, that brings back memories! I actually thought Double Dash!!'s soundtrack was good, it seemingly introduced a new 'feel' (I say this without knowing much about musical technical terms) to the music that's been retained since, and featured a lot of catchy, memorable tunes (more than I thought I would remember).

I couldn't really say if I had a favourite or not, though, all the games have great music, with their own selection of duffers.

On a slightly unrelated note, I like how Mario Kart Wii introduced dynamic overlays to the music in its menu screens.
