| Ugh, that chanting just ruins it so much for me. I love all the bullshit in the YouTube comments as to what it can be: "it's elimanare, Latin for eliminate", "it's Hylian for dark beast, filial filul" or my personal favourite "it's Homer Simpson saying get a job". |

| GNamer's Casual/Hardcore Remix Music Week 61: Balloon Trip Breeze (Evening), Nintendo Land: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-kYPQhPdg1E I can't say that I remember much of the Nintendo Land soundtrack, apart from the start of this one. Something about this version of the main theme just makes me feel all warm inside. Aaaah... First actual Wii U game with a music week! (Assuming that "System Settings" doesn't count.) |

| Do the Rayman games' music get better as you go through the levels? Exponentially? Because I don't remember the first world in ROrigins having any interesting tunes.
That is lovely, though. Reminds me of Satorl Marsh (night) off Xenoblade. |

| It won't be everyone's cup of tea, but I still can't get enough of Rayman's rendition of Black Betty:

It just fits the tone of the game perfectly. |

That is lovely, though. Reminds me of Satorl Marsh (night) off Xenoblade. I'd say it does, also Legends really is built around the music more than origins ever was. |

| If there's a thread that can really swing me to buy games, it's this one. It didn't work for Tri, but with all the praise that the limbless one is getting again... Also I loved playing the Black Betty level in GAME. Tough one. |

| It's my favourite Wii U game to date, and I haven't even finished it yet. Everything from the soundtrack to the visuals is superb, and the platforming is every bit as tight as it was in Origins, but with much grander scope and prettier environments. Those background vistas and 3D models are wunnerful, making Origins look flat by comparison (in fronkhead's words). |

| So i've kinda been addicted to Etrian Odyssey IV lately and while not playing i've pretty much had these two on loop all week. The OST in general seems good so far in, but these two, these are just too good <3
Battlefield ~ Storm
Unrest ~ The End of Raging Winds |

| That first track, in particular, is epic as anything. Wasted on a dungeon crawler, in my opinion! GNamer's Disappointing Music Week 62: Pokémon League, Pokémon Diamond/Pearl: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mxb7chtXGBE Ehhhh... Those who have been following the DS Voting Thread (which should be ALL OF YOU) may know that my disappointment at the Pokémon series' red-headed stepchild extends to the music. Some of the game's music is just awful (the DS can do accordions without butchering them: Layton's games are proof); others start well and then get worse (0:42 and 0:31 respectively, although in fairness the Mt. Coronet music does get better again). And these are the games directly after Ruby/Sapphire, which had an excellent soundtrack! What went wrong? Mass lay-offs in Game Freak's sound department between generations? This one is one of the best of a bad bunch, and it is quite lovely, but it felt massively out of place to me. It plays just before entering the Pokémon League building, and it's really soft and sweet, like a romantic moment in the sunset. Instead, you're about to go get mauled by Cynthia's bloody Garchomp. In contrast, here's the RSE equivalent. Now that's getting ready for an epic battle. The good thing about this week? I never have to listen to the DP soundtrack again if I don't want to, apart from the decent Brawl remixes. |

| GNamer's "Topical For Me" Music Week 63: Objection!, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: www.youtube.com/watch?v=_I34nshlOPk Yes, I know which tune you were expecting: this one, Wright? (Heh.) Sorry, this feels more dramatic for me. Nailing a witness with a well-placed contradiction, watching the pixelated sweat flow down their lying cheeks... It's great, especially if you haven't needed to check a walkthrough to work out which piece of evidence to use. Ahem. As for other notable ditties, this one is a real "feelings piece", but the silver medal unquestionably goes to Jake "Not Really Texan" Marshall's theme. Yee-haw, etc. On to Justice for All! |

| Good choices! I'm actually going to miss the old 'midi' style music from the GBA/DS games in AA5, they feel really 'gamey' and have a certain charm to them, just like Ghost Trick's soundtrack.
I still cringe whenever I hear Marshall's tune, perhaps because I never liked the fifth, tacked on, case, which felt like it was all over the place in terms of design and pacing.
---
I've been playing a lot of 2D DS Castlevania recently, and all the soundtracks are stunning.
Particularly Dawn of Sorrow's, which has so much variety to it alongside some neat remakes of old Castlevania tunes hidden away.

| Had this discussion with Jay a couple of pages back, but the only Castlevania I've picked up is MoF, and they really tried to go down the scary route with the music. As such, it's nowhere near as good. I presume that the DS titles are much more "adventure-y" and less "horror-y"? And I don't really agree with you on the fifth case. The shoehorned-in DS bits were pains in the neck, but I thought the case itself was pretty great. Marshall, Gant and Lana were all good characters, and the conclusion was as good as any of the others (although it did lack Manfred von Karma banging his head on a wall). - Spoiler:

| Have a listen to the playlist to get an idea, but yes the music's entirely different to Mirror of Fate, which, to me, focused more on ambient music than actual themes or tunes (only one I remember is the main tune that seems to play throughout).
Fair enough about case 5. Sure, it's good, but the pacing was awful, it wasn't as tightly designed as the other cases. As a result it's the one I remember the least about, despite it being the longest of the lot.
---
On a side note, would it be possible to just have one thread for all videogame music? Most third party franchises aren't exclusive to a single platform (in your case you just posted about an iOS game, even if it's a DS port), and I don't believe it matters what platform the music's from anyway! And non-Nintendo platform music posts don't take up a large proportion so I can't see it shifting the conversation in any way or another... |

| If enough people want me to merge the threads, then I'll do it. I must confess, I thought that the "other music" thread would have more posts than it does. I'm against it, simply because this is still a Nintendo forum to me, and my personal preference is to keep Nintendo and "other" stuff separate. Obviously that hasn't happened on other threads.
And despite having played them on iOS, the Phoenix Wright games are definitely GBA/DS games for me first and foremost! |

| Need another reason to get excited for Bravely Default? Here's one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUaw0S0ml5M
Also I sign against merging the threads as well. Partly for selfish reasons I'll admit, but also because there isn't really another place on the forum suitable for game music on non-Nintendo systems and it kind of needed its own home. I can start posting weekly or bi-weekly with a track or two if that would sort the issue. I just haven't been gaming much on games that had music that particularly struck me is why I've been leaving it alone, but I can always dig back from memory if need be to keep it going, I did plan when making it to contribute far more than I have done. |

| Choral videogames music! My only weakness! Noooooooooooooooo... except this one has too much percussion in. It probably sounds better in context. |
