A bit of trivia, the composer for the music for Bravely Default is the guy who composed the opening themes for Attack on Titan.

I usually hate music with lyrics in games, but that is suitably epic and cheesy at the same time. Great stuff. Shame I can't say likewise for the game...
On the other hand, I have (finally) started Rayman Legends, and the music is as superb as Jas said it was. Expect some of that to go up in time.
GNamer's Oxymoronic Music Week 64: Shadow, Final Fantasy VI: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sSIkHrjPWTc
I could, of course, just post Dancing Mad 4 and have done with it, but I do have a special fondness for the only piece I know in gaming to feature the Jew's harp. Possibly because I was at the age where brooding mysterious characters were bread and butter to me when I played this. Just don't ask me why a ninja gets spaghetti western music as his theme.
Oh, and to reinforce my stereotype, here's the music of that one chap whose family all got poisoned. Clowns, eh?

Music news! Hirokazu Tanaka, Mr. Metroid/Tetris/Earthbound/several others, has composed two remixes in honour of Yamauchi-san. SML was my first real videogame, so that one hit me especially hard.

GNamer's Mario Voting Thread Tie-In Music Week 65: Jolly Roger Bay, Super Mario 64: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTszj4iZUMw
Yes, to celebrate Phillips' Mario voting thread, have one of the most beautiful pieces of level music in Nintendo history. Not only is the main theme utterly gorgeous, conjuring a feeling of loneliness seldom equalled, but the way it builds, with the percussion kicking when you come across the secret cave/submarine, is simply magical.
Of course, SM64 has other great pieces, but I don't want to link to them. Not now. I don't want to take anything away from one of my favourite pieces of videogame music of all time.

Aww man, that music! I normally hate water levels but that music made it feel so nice and dreamlike.
The yamauchi tributes were lovely too. Cheers Balla!

GNamer's Preparing for Pokémon Music Week 66: Final Battle, Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-qmnkfjrB0
Please excuse the Youtube idiot who thought that naming his Salamence after an Internet meme was funny.
Anyway, there's exactly a week to go until the first fully 3D Pokémon RPG. I am so stoked you have no idea. Or rather, the first fully 3D portable Pokémon RPG: there were two released for the Gamecube, including this, the best Pokémon game there is. Yes, you heard right. Its predecessor, Colosseum, got rid of the tutorials and long grass wandering from the handheld series; XD was a much, much grander adventure, ending on a suitably epic note: against a final boss with four legendary birds in his party, including the pictured Shadow Lugia. So impressive... until you chuck your Master Ball.
Oh, and also, Miror B. got another brilliant tune. Because he's Miror B.
I encourage people to post the very best in Pokémon music this week, as a way of getting ready for X/Y! If it's not the above final boss theme, mine may be Mt. Pyre from RSE. Of course it's from RSE.

Unashamed cop-out here because I want to be spending this time playing Pokémon. My first Nintendo game ever, Oriental theme, there you go. Although I will direct people five posts up for a great remix of the credits.

Ah, didn't see this! I'm going to post tracks from my favourite Pokemon game, Gold and Silver. I've always had a soft spot for this one, I'd say this is the best Gym theme in the series, this is straight-up gorgeous, this wouldn't look out of place in a Mario Kart game, this is AWFUL, nah sod it THIS is the best Gym theme in the series, and obligatory VS. Red.
Phew. There. That makes up for everyone not posting Pokemon music.

Wow - they butchered the Game Corner music in the remakes. The National Park music is great, though. Channelling Debussy hard there.

GNamer's Turnabout Music Week 68: The Big Phoenix Wright Week, 2001-2012
With the fifth game in what is (in my opinion) one of the best series in gaming on the horizon, this week, the Official Nintendo Consoles Music Thread is paying the series a retrospective visit. Covering every Ace Attorney game released in the west up until now (so not Gyakuten Kenji 2 ), in chronological order of story. (Please do post in between, otherwise I'll be talking to myself a lot.) Back in time we go...
Day 1:Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Only, of course, I've already done this one.
Oh, don't give me that. Fine, here's "Objection", orchestral version. Also "Cornered". Happy now? (Of course Edgeworth plays the flute.)

Damn right. I've walked to and from work a couple of times playing this series, and it has to be with headphones in.
Day 2:Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Justice for All
You see this girl? See the way she looks down her nose at you? Well, she's actually the villain of the game's final case. See, she's in cahoots with the chap who has this (terribly classy) tune, whose name tells you all you need to know. This tune plays when she reveals her true colours.
Ah, but is she really? Or am I bluffing? That... would be telling! (Just don't read the video comments, 'kay, or all will be spoilt.) Also, the Internet has far too much fanart of Franziska and her. Not that I'm surprised.
Also, who doesn't love a bit of Edgeworth? Orchestrated for your pleasure!

Day 3:Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations
The Fragrance of Dark Coffee: www.youtube.com/watch?v=bpteBjk7Aog
Chill, man. Just... chill. (Although frankly, with the amount of caffeine he's had, Godot ought to be bouncing off the walls.)
And if you can't chill... get mad, or get even. Damn, T&T had some great characters.

Day 4:Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth
I can do it when it counts, pal! www.youtube.com/watch?v=6vEwsdbrums
When this remix began playing at the point in the fifth case where Dick bursts in with the evidence, I'll confess - I teared up a bit. Anyone who's played through the series surely wants Gumshoe to get his Big Heroic Moment, and then this plays, and... yay Gumshoe! Sniff.
Also this, just because of Lang being great. The only man in the series allowed to swear in block capitals. Really really want the sequel to this game, just to find out why he hates prosecutors.

Apollo may not be as good a character as Wright, but he still deserves a great "nailed it" theme. I'm glad to see him again in AA5... as a sidekick. That's where he belongs.
That wraps up Ace Attorney week! We return to your regularly scheduled musical picks on Saturday, if I can tear myself away from Dual Destinies for long enough.

The most charmingly whimsical of the "in-built" tunes. Such a shame I lost my original 3DS, and with it all my pieces. Doesn't leave me unable to appreciate its music, though.

StreetPass Puzzle will likely remain my favourite StreetPass game. It and New Leaf are the reasons I take my 3DS everywhere.

A bit of mid-week musical fun: does anybody else follow Smooth McGroove? i.e. the a capella chap with the facial hair and the cat? If not, I'd like to acquaint you with some of my favourite of his works:
Muda Kingdom, Super Mario Land (worth waiting until 1:38) Wily Stage, Mega Man 2 It goes with everything ...........
That range. So jealous.
