Let's go for fighting games.
Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix: Zangief's Theme
I AM THE RED CYCLONE.
Tekken 3: Jin's Theme
Can't hear the beginning of this without hearing the croaky announcer saying "Jin. Kazama... VERSUS. Marshall Lawwww. FIGHT."
And of course, it goes with everything.
Street Fighter 2: Guile's Theme
Time for me to go home and be a family man.

Jay, my girlfriend was a SF addict back in the day - she loved the Guile's theme! Zangief's music's a bit dull though.
Balladeer's Epic Music Week 32: Gaur Plains, Xenoblade Chronicles: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Dy74NOzcS8
It had to be this. Simply epic, and sweeping, and with all those missions you had to do before the camp was disbanded you had a lot of time to listen to it! Other epic musics: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75YyJ9FQnMI: Satorl Marsh at night. Beautiful and dreamy, but be careful of those massively over-levelled monsters... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18uJPvyID_Q: Mechonis Field, as posted by Jas on the old place. Forget the massively dull aesthetics and the music is actually pretty nice.

Some picks I have to make would be these. Also, may I ask if it's possible to either allow games not from Nintendo consoles in this topic, or for it to get its own topic? As great as Nintendo music is there is a absolute ton of fantastic music that has never been on a Nintendo system that would be nice to post about. Nier's music alone is worth a mention, and there are series like Final Fantasy with a reputation for great music and Falcom in general.
Raise Thy Sword
Nightmare's Theme from Soul Calibur 2.
VS Colress
A personal favourite from the latest Pokemon games. It's fairly unique compared to the typical battle themes that come from this series, yet still fits perfectly both the series and also the fight in question. My only gripe is it played once.
One Who Gets in Our Way
No matter how many times this plays I never get sick of it. As far as boss battle themes go it's pretty much exactly what I want from one.

Well since you asked twice... Philps asked me if he could make a separate music thread for other consoles, I said yes, and then he never did it. Feel free to fill this void!
I think we can all agree that XC music is brilliant. Must do SC2 in a later week! (adds to list)

You can battle with Colress more than once.
Not Nintendo, but this little gem did make an appearance on the Gamecube. One of the games of my childhood.
The fire emblem games on the Gamecube and Wii respecitively have some great tunes.

Best music in the game that started it all. Yes, better than the overworld, or than the chromatic underground. It's so relaxing, apart from the Brawl version (this is a link), which isn't.

Oops, that's what I get for not proof reading the message after I decided that paragraph worked better at the top rather than the bottom. I will take up the offer and make it though, tomorrow. I would make it now but due to a medication I just took I'm so sleepy I could fall asleep in the chair if I put my head down so that would be most unwise.

True, but alas the theme only plays once during the story, and since I've brought over all my Iv bred and Ev trained Pokemon I generally don't do the post game stuff since all the fun is taken out of it with my team raised for things like Battle Subway.

Can I just express how much I object to the Brawl version there? "Truly abysmal" is too small a description to encompass its festering putridness.
Better now!

Oh come on! It's not festering per sé. Maybe a bit odd-smelling around the banjo section.

So recently i got reminded how good the music for the Advance Wars series is. Cue a lot of listening....how did i forget how good some of this stuff is? Especially the CO themes. A few picks:
"Piecing Gaze" - Advance Wars: Dark Conflict
"Jake's Theme" - Advance Wars: Dual Strike
I'd link to more, but....it seems that as far as sound quality goes, AW tunes REALLY don't transition to youtube well

Having arrived in Slateport City for the Nuzlocke Challenge a day or so ago, I was greeted with this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s73ykA3NY94 I'd completely forgotten about it but it sure is lovely!
Speaking of lovely, my favourite videogame music of last year: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9IRWAFcXCUw, which gives rise to the Monte d'Or theme in Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask. At first listen it seems mighty repetitive but the more you're exposed to it - and you're exposed to it a lot - the more its subtleties come to the fore. Brilliant stuff.

In my eyes, a hidden gem among the pokemon games music. When listening to the Slateport music posted by ZeroJones, I tried to recall some of my favourite background music. I wracked my memories and recalled this great Route 216 theme.
Probably the best wintry music done in a pokemon game! Also reminds me of animal crossing somehow...

No no no no! The music starts off well enough, but loses its way significantly around 0:43. The best wintry music in Pokemon games isn't even on a snowy route: it's an ashy one.
And ZJ, you'll just have come across this music. You definitely chose the best games in the series for music to Nuzlocke!

This thread celebrates both the good... and the bad musics on Nintendo consoles. Here's a bad one I came across yesterday:

Well, I finished Xenoblade recently. As you can probably imagine the music was fantastic, but I do have my favourites. I won't post all of them as links because I don't want to kill peoples bandwidth, so I will name my top ten and link to the top three. So, without further ado, my top ten personal favourite tracks from Xenoblade are as follows.
10.) Fight! The standard battle theme of Xenoblade. RPGs typically have great battle themes, Xenoblade was no exception. However the soundtrack has better, so this comes in at number ten for me.
9.) Guar Plains This is another very nice track. What I like about it would have to be the grand picture it paints, and the cheerful vibe to it. As an area theme it was probably my second favourite of the game.
8.) Mechonis Field Another track already posted in this topic, but as far as my personal top ten it rates at the very solid position of 8. Another great area theme, and better than the area it was used in which I honestly didn't like.
7.) Prologue B Not much to say about this track really. It was used in the opening segment and again near the end of the game during a very cool cutscene. I like the picture of a last stand it portrays so effectively though.
6.) One Who Gets in Our Way Boss Battle theme, I've already posted it so I'll just move on.
5.) Confrontation with the Enemy Ah yes, this track. Played during almost every action cutscsne in the game where emotions are raging. It does its job very well, but despite this it is not actually my favourite cutscene track, though it is a close choice.
4.) The Awakening Giant I can't really say anything about this track without spoiling things so I won't.
3.) Tragic Decision
That feeling of utter despair and sacrifice. That is why this track comes in at number 3 for me. It doesn't hurt it played in my favourite cutscene either.
2.) Unfinished Battle
Oh how cruel they were to play this a grand total of once. A very nice cutscene battle theme, and my favorite cutscene track from the game.
1.) Xanthe
This is probably an incredibly predictable pick, but I absolutely love this battle theme. I won't go in to the context for obvious reasons, but it is everything I crave for in a battle theme like this.
I could go on about this soundtrack, naming tracks I like until the end of time, but as I've actually bought the soundtrack and have done this list this will be the last time I mention Xenoblade's music in this topic. I love it, treasure it, and consider it one of the finest soundtracks for the current era of gaming.

Ah, Advance Wars, now there's a series with some really underrated music. I've always loved that series music, the tunes are incredibly addicting. Also, I suspect they don't transition well because the source people use to upload them to Youtube is rather poor. Advance Wars games never got any actual soundtrack releases I think, so the best people can get is rips from the game. And as you might imagine, direct rips of music from a DS game typically aren't going to sound all that great unfortunately.

I may disagree with your order, Athrun, but there's no denying that the XC soundtrack is fantastic. As for Advance Wars... I got up to mission 9 in DS, then quit, so I can't comment.
Balladeer's Sticking With It Music Week 34: Snow Rise, Paper Mario: Sticker Star: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nW5yzS4bYE4
Yes, the game was disappointing, but it had the music of a much better one. In particular, this whimsical Christmassy theme, in a game out just in time for Christmas! Other fine examples: Gooper Blooper: A really annoying and non-obvious boss, but you can't stay angry with that guitar! Stereo: Not long, but needed to be mentioned for nostalgia reasons. Aaaah... Boo Night Fever: Girlfriend admonished me for forgetting this one. Such a shame it only applies to one battle all game...
