This thread is one of my personal favourites Darren. I recommend you check out the OP - Balla did one hell of a job posting on a weekly basis and there's plenty to tuck into that. Also, if you like game music in general, give me a shout - I run the Nontendo music thread and we're always looking for guests to write up a post in there for that thread's weekly update.

Some of the links will probably need replacing though.
GNamer Music Time Interval 136: Last Christmas I Gave You My Kart
Mario Kart 8 DLC
Happy new year music fans! This has been a while in the works, because I did the MK8 "thingy" back in "thingy" 130. But MK8 got a lot of smashing DLC after that, didn't it? Let's pick some of my faves from that selection, in no karticular order.
Neo Bowser City/Koopa City
This is no different to the 3DS track. I just think it's absolutely brilliant, so I'm reposting. The ambience makes me feel like it's an F-Zero game more than the actual F-Zero tracks do, and the music only helps that. Belting.
Ice Ice Outpost
A supremely underrated track, with one of the tightest racing lines since F-Zero GX made us cry with Phantom Road. The music is similarly underrated - how to make vaguely atonal tunes work in a videogame 101.
Wild Woods
This is probably my favourite track/music combination in the game. The same musical techniques as Ice Ice Outpost, with an added dash of whimsy and atmospheric choir.
Animal Crossing (Winter)
There was no way I wasn't going to post one of these bastards in here, and this is my favourite. Dat sax.
No F-Zero tracks, you'll notice. That's because I didn't think they were as good as the ones I've posted. C'mon, tell me I'm wrong!

I'll give these a listen later mate.
The F-Zero ones are corkers but I prefer those songs on the roaring guitars they were born for.

You're honestly not wrong. I'm not a huge fan of MK8's takes on the F-Zero OST. And besides, nothing can touch Melee's take on Big Blue.
Of the tracks you picked, I bloody love the Animal Crossing Winter track. Had that playing for a good while without even realising. Perfect chill-out listening. Also, it really reminds me of Pokemon X for some reason.

I can only enjoy the original Mute City - no subsequent version has touched it.

Much like Big Blue, I'd argue that SSBM's version is the best take on Mute City.

Hm. While Smash 4's version is unremarkable, MK8's version becomes rather enjoyable. I like the brass wails.
Truth be told, I think Mute City in general in a rather unremarkable track. Oh yes, I went there.

I like it, but I prefer Big Blue over it, and I prefer Fire Field over both of them.

The best version of Mute City is when we sing it at the top of our lungs when we go onto the stretch of national speed limit between my flat and Dominos/ KFC.

Xenoblade Chronicles credits music. Much better without the dubious ending accompanying it, but I challenge you to listen to it from 1:28 without breaking into Titanic.

That Titanic reference is so apt, Balla.
I recently beat the second Phoenix Wright game, so here's a few tracks I liked from Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: Justice for All.
In the Midst - I think this plays whilst chatting to Matt Enguarde and Adrian Andrews in the last case.
The Great Revival - HE'S BAAAAAACK.
Cornered (Variation) - The theme that says "got ya now."

In The Midst, along with Search - Opening 2002, managed to really get on my wick. No qualms about your other two tunes, though! Although the best JfA piece (music spoilers, DON'T LOOK AT THE COMMENTS REAL SPOILERS THERE) is Search - Core 2002. Shudder.
Also, obligatory.

That was a really great moment, and one hell of a transformation. Great music to score it too. Matt Enguarde... what a dick.

This is the Phoenix Wright song that sticks out for me. It's such a happy tune!

I just started playing Kirby and the Rainbow Paintbrush again, and was reminded was this utterly spectacular track from the second level in the game.

Slow starter, that one, but really flourishes after the first half-minute or so. The PW tune, meanwhile, only makes me think of April May jiggling around.

To be fair, though, 23 points in the Forum Awards is not just because of the music - it's a really fun game and the music is but one aspect of that. For the record, I don't like it all that much either - though it does kind of fit the game, it's just not to my taste.

Those 23 points were from the sound award but I agree the sounds and music adds to the game.
