I really love the Splatoon music. That Squid Sisters thing though...

Yesterday I downloaded the DKCTF soundtrack in the most legal form available which is, er, not at all, and it's still bloody brilliant. When Donkey Kong takes to the wrestling ring, this should be his theme tune. Top headbanging stuff.

Holy shit, that is an awesome track. And that's apparently the first boss theme? What?!
As for your wrestling reference, funnily enough, the start of that Donkey Kong track really reminded of the start of this.

That's an uncanny similarity. I don't actually like the final boss' music, but I really like this piece, in a similar vein.

GNamer Music Time Interval 137: The Tossing Printer's Buggered Again
Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam Bros.
The most recent M&L didn't have music quite as memorable as the rest of the series - in particular, the final boss theme paled compared to PiT and BIS. That doesn't mean it didn't have good music though. Have some good music!
Forest Fairy Melody
More than a touch of Beware the Forest's Mushrooms in this one. That's no bad thing.
Do It Now!
Can't remember where this plays, but here's Nabbit anyway. Jaunty stuff.
Final Battle
Look - I just said it wasn't as good as those two games. It's still top-notch epic stuff. Music spoilers, natch.

I was going to do something like that soon - why don't you do it instead of me? Make it the official Music Time Interval 138. Then I can give my thoughts on your thoughts.

While Athrun's collecting his thoughts on XCX, here's something topical:
GNamer Music Time Interval 138: Making a Howler
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (HD)
I don't actually own this yet. However, I'm reliably informed that the soundtrack hasn't changed at all. And while this means putting up with MIDI instruments (and that bloody awful wolf howl), it does mean that I can give you the second TP music week thingy! The first one was way back in week 60, but TP's soundtrack is definitely good enough for me to siphon off another 5!
Oh, and there's at least one spoiler in here, for a late-game boss. Be warned.
10. City in the Sky
I suspect this might be a "love it or hate it" track. I really like it - whimsical mysterious dungeon music, but with an actual melody of sorts. And mysterious Ooccoo noises as well.
9. Faron Woods
Lovely chilled track, although you can really hear the MIDI-ness of the strings. Still, in my opinion, better than the LOZSS track with the same name.
8. Blizzeta Battle Second Half
FUCKING HELL NINTENDO. Bets on this getting the game a T rating on its own? Shame the boss that follows is less imaginative (it's literally a giant block of ice), but what a soundtrack to smash it up to.
7. Hyrule Field Night
I can't believe I posted the daylight track up over this last time. Even with the obviously synth voice, haunting.
6. Sledding
WAHEY! I love this piece, coming out of nowhere in the mysterious snowy wilds. It's just big dumb fun. Especially when you're racing Yeta and she's yelling her head off.
BONUS Malo Mart
Because you're all joining me in my insanity.

I'm repeating myself as I said the exact same thing last time, but a lot of Twilight Princess's tracks are lost on me because of their MIDI format. Faron Woods is brilliant though - I think it's because I've really fond memories of the beginning of Twilight Princess, so anything from its opening instantly takes me back to Christmas 2006.

I love TP's music, so more is always appreciated. For me, nothing beats the little tune just as you're getting hits in on a boss.

The same melody shows up in other tracks in the game, but that moment is just so perfect. I'm glad it can't be heard outside of the actual context of slapping a monster right in the face; the music and scene are too synonymous.

After last time's topical piece, here's something that's barely topical at all, but which I've wanted to do for a while.
GNamer Music Time Interval 139: Settle It IN SMASH!
Super Smash Bros. for Wii U DLC
SSBU got some DLC stages and characters, and with them came some new music. Can I pick my five favourite tracks from the selection, keeping to the same criteria as for the original week (new remix, although I will allow 3DS themes where they were introduced simultaneously)? Heck yes I can.
5. Mii Plaza
I'm not quite sure how Nintendo/Namco managed to turn this into a battle theme, but turn it they did. Well done, chaps: well done.
Incidentally, I was going to do remixes for this post; but then I came across a video entitled "Cat Falls to its Death (Mii Plaza Remix)", and now I don't want to any more.
4. Main Theme (Super Mario 64)
Yeah like I wasn't going to feature this one. Chuffing great theme, slightly dubious instrumentation.
3. Ryu Stage
Whatever my feelings about Ryu being in Smash, he brought some damn good music with him. That violin cadenza!
2. Ken Stage
And another one! This one starts off better than the Ryu theme but has a worse middle. Swap 'em around if you so desire.
1. Lost in Thoughts All Alone
Turns a haunting beautiful piece into a roaring battle tune. Great piece originally, great remix, great all-round.
In what will, I'm sure, not be a terribly popular point of view, the Bayonetta musics didn't really do it for me. Tomorrow Is Mine was... alright.

The Bayonetta tracks work better with the vocals included, I reckon. Big thumbs up for the Street Fighter tracks - Ryu's remix is so damn good.

Those Street Fighter tracks are really nice remixes of the original songs. The Bayonetta stuff was okay, but missing a lot of what made the original so good.
Subject: Re: Official Nintendo Consoles Music Thread (Thanks for Listening!) Sat 26 Mar 2016 - 9:13
Honestly I prefer the original Lost In Thoughts All Alone. Sure it isn't technically a battle track, but then Awakenings own "Don't speak her name!" proved you can wage battles to emotional pieces of music perfectly fine.
And when I say original I of course mean the Japanese version, because I'm a filthy weeb like that
Oh, and can I take next weeks slot for that Xenoblade X top ten I proposed a while back?

I do too, including the waterbending dances (although I actually like the English versions, bar some dubious metre), but the Smashmix is very good nonetheless. And yes, fire at will!

After Athrun's week (which I'm hoping will energise me actually getting on with playing XCX) I might have to do one with the Bayonetta music, just to fix this dishonour Balla has inflicted.
