| Looked belting. The sort of game that made me wish I liked this sort of game. Can't wait to see and experience (from a distance) some of the levels people will come up with. |

| I really liked Mario Maker . . . Theoretically. The online infrastructure and the awkwardness of the Wii u and 3 d s being separate machines let it down. In a sentence I'll never tire of using: this will be perfect on Switch. |

| I never played the first SMM game, but even though I know I'd be rubbish at making levels, this would probably still be worth the price of entry to play the wealth of levels that infinitely more talented people will make. |

| I had a pal at Tesco who made really clever ones, like recreating Home alone. I'm hoping he'll be pumping stuff out for this. |

Oh dear. I'm totally down for this. My only worry: as a kid, I used to dream of/dream up new Mario levels all the time. As an adult, quality control and artistic merit have stepped in - I only made about 12 Super Mario Maker Levels. But right now I'm desperate to get back into this; now that there's more of you chumps on Switch, I'm more inspired to make things. NOW WITH SLOPES! |

| YES MAAAAAAAAAAAAAATE
If I had to choose one game I wanted from the Wii U it was this, I didn't make that many levels myself, it was playing through everyone's creations that made this great for me, there's some really ace creators out there. |

| I do like good games, not shite attempts at making a Mario level that ends up 0.000000001% as fun as one made by Nintendo because we aren’t game designers and neither are 99.999999999999999% of the players

| Fair point, well made! I'm playing New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, and it's a fresh reminder that Nintendo are really the masters of their craft. I'm having a great time with that, and that's due to the clever and imaginative level design, that flows really well. |

| I was extremely excited about this game when it was on WiiU, because it had the best use of the Gamepad on the system, and I absolutely loved putting out levels and getting people (mostly you guys) to play them. One thing I didn't do a whole lot of however is actually play other people's levels, because the majority were complete balls. I don't know how it would work, but some kind of quality control system beyond "can it be finished?" would be pretty good. The huge list of new additions to our options is very exciting and makes this a must buy for me. Very very excited! |

This combined with my not wanting to be creative when gaming and the curation thing Ducky mentions are my reasons for not being fussed about it, but I can definitely see the appeal for other people. Creating your own Mario levels I mean Jesus Christ. We've all dreamed of that! |

Sent from Topic'it App The swipe to skip option is you're friend (although they'll have to map this to something else on Switch if not playing handheld). I could usually tell which were stinkers a few seconds in and it was totally worth skipping them for some of the brilliant ones people made. |

| On one hand, it's great to see Mario Maker back, but on the other hand this game really does delay the appearance of 'new gen' 2D Mario. I thought NSMB U was the end of the line for that style of Mario games, and we'd be seeing the next generation of 2D Mario after that. But the U remaster probably extended the life of the 'New' line anyway... It's just a bit disappointing that Super Mario Run is the last fresh take on 2D Mario since 2012's NSMB U! - Crumpy Andy wrote:

Sent from Topic'it App This is why I skipped Wii U Mario Maker. The ultra-hard levels that became a bit of a meme on the internets are a great symbolism of this issue. They aren't actually difficult to make because you're essentially having to brute-force a very rigid predetermined set of inputs to clear a very rigid set of obstacles which the creator already knows while they are making the level. A fair-but-hard level has to accommodate a much wider range of player behaviour, and those are the kind of levels which we play Nintendo-developed Mario games for. No doubt MM has some too, but they just aren't as attention-grabbing (and thus, appropriate for social media stardom) as the 'ultra-hard' levels. Luckily the 3DS version had a main game with 100 levels from Nintendo developers, but it was easy to get the impression the level design was slightly hamstrung by the maker tools. |

I'm pretty sure the wii U version had this as well. |

I'm pretty sure the wii U version had this as well. I think it had a similar mode but the levels weren't the same. https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2016-12-01-nintendo-has-just-sneaked-out-one-of-the-best-2d-mario-games-in-years |
