I guess, but is that an important thing? The way I see it, whatever the reason Mario's going from the left bit to the right bit, the point of a 2D Mario is "go from the left bit to the right bit". |

| This looks pretty great as far as how many features and tools they've crammed in to the level editor. Whether I pick it up or not though really depends on how the single player is.
So far I'm not particularly convinced, it looks like an unnecessary tutorial to teach players the mechanics which would normally natural unveil themselves playing the game.
You accept jobs, and the first job just teaches you what a slope is, sticking a big arrow over a slope with some goombas on it. Hardly exciting stuff. That's early days though, so maybe it'll be more like 3DS Mario Maker's excellent 100 level single player. But so far it seems like some unnecessary gamification going on there. |

Apparently it is to me. If SMM2 allows you to take on entire fan-created worlds full of thematically similar levels I'd be more keen. |

| I wanna say there was an option in the first one to link levels you created but I might be getting confused there. I'll be honest I don't think the single player is gonna be all that, the first one I remember being tutorialish for a bit before throwing levels at you that puts them all together, not bad but not worth buying if you're only gonna play that. They did keep updating with their own new creations, sometimes ones made by featured people outside of Nintendo which were cool but overall a lot of the value lies in the community creations.
All that being said there was some amazing levels on the last one and the possibilities on this sound even more promising. I just hope the filtering options will help hide all the "auto-play" levels that had a popular phase. |

| The multiplayer news about this was disappointing to read. Supposedly, you can't play the game's ace looking multiplayer mode with your friends and instead must duke it out with randoms. It reminded me of Runbow but with that Mario magic and thinking I would get to experience that with some of you lot was actually a big reason for me getting excited for this. Sad to see that won't be the case. |

| It's a bit strange that they've done this, though can sorta understand their reasoning of " we don't want the leader boards corrupted with co op" Which no doubt would be the case with some of the map makers doing their god level making and all that.
Plus no Amiibo support really?

Even so they could have easily just made it a casual mode that isn't attached to the leader boards, I hope they change their mind on this. |

| Hasn't the story stemmed from something a rep said, I'm not taking it as truth just yet, you can create a room from what was shown in the direct which makes little sense if you can't play with friends. They'd also be mad not to include Amiibo support after it was such a hit in the first one. |

| Couple of mighty stupid decisions there if true. That said, I'm more excited about local co-op.: I wasn't sure if it was only online. Might be the game's 'killer app.' for me.
Only thing: does every player need a Switch locally, does anyone know? |

| They also just confirmed that online play with friends will be patched in, so those GNamer sessions will likely happen now. |

Can a game have a Killer app? I think it'd be a "USP" in this context . . . which is all marketing business-speak mumbo jumbo. Kill me now. |

| Watching the Treehouse segments with this still has me excited. I just can't wait to sit and play around with it and make levels again (until Fire emblem comes out) |

~ Story Mode seems all right. I'm not far into it, but it's been quite clever and creative so far. The recent 2D Mario games were never bad at all, just unadventurous and unambitious. Already, this seems to have more bright ideas going for it. |
