That's the same guy who gave A Short Hike 10/10 as well (and I'm sure has given out some other slightly odd scores). I'm sure Horace is good - A Short Hike is - but not convinced it's necessarily 10/10 worthy!
Isn't it the guy that was at GameXplain?

Yeah I saw that - a 'recommended' from Eurogamer seems legit, whereas a 10/10 just seems a bit OTT. I'm sure it's a great title and I'm intrigued too! Just doesn't come across as a genre-defining, seminal game.

I dunno. Looking through his portfolio of reviews on OpenCritic it seems to be all Nintendo Life - not sure what else he's been a part of.

Picked up Killer Queen Black at 90% off (only £1.77!) and Return of the Obra Dinn (50%, so £8.99) yesterday, if anyone's interested. I don't think they're on sale for very long.
Thanks for the reminder, I've just gone and bought it, Killer Queen that is, will get Ones Dinn another time.
I'm also hearing a lot of good things about ScourgeBringer if anyone has any room in their life for another rougelite.

I also picked up KQB, though not sure it works that well without real people to play against, might be one to get a session together for for the ripe old price of free with gold points.

Oh yes, I'm not expecting it to be 10/10. Nintendo Life gives 10/10s to all sorts of stuff that I don't think should get 10/10, or 9/10 for that matter. (Scullion gave that to the 3DS Metroid, a good but soulless-feeling experience.) They're almost guaranteed to be good though, and that's all I'm asking for. If it's an 8/10 I'll have got my money's worth.
Anyhoo I'm not shelling out for it quite yet when there are monsters to catch.

I really like the idea... but not the monster designs so much. A blob of slime and a floating eye? Very bad end of Gen. 1. I think the reasonably rough pixellated art might make it tough for me to grow attached to the monsters in the same way as, say, Pokémon or Ni No Kuni. Still, I'll keep a floating eye on reviews.

I've downloaded Pumpkin Jack and I'm really enjoying it. It's a 3D platformer that's made by just one guy. It nails the Buron-esque mood and atmosphere that you'd want from a Halloween-ey game like this, and one of it's main selling points is that it doesn't outstay it's welcome either - it's described as being a "6-8 hour adventure"! What a result!

I'm looking forward to worrying about whether it's better than Lucky's Tale / Hat in Time / Yooka-Laylee

I think I can forgive it the monster designs if the battle system is good. I look at it as something I might play in handheld mode in bed.

Pumpkin Jack looks good and hear it's a homage to Medievil which is odd as it's not on PS4 but everything else
The thing I have with it is the price is a tad pricey and I can see it coming to Game Pass in like January which sure Halloween been and gone

It looks tempting, it does. I've cooled a bit on Lucky which I should probably still try to push on with, but after that I'll be looking for another 3D platformer, and I've read decent opinions.

I saw the trailer for Pumpkin and was curious. I'll probably wait for a sale price, and also for when I'm not fresh off the back of playing all the best platformers ever made . . .

After jumping on the eshop last night to download the Age of calamity demo I also picked up a handful of games that were on sale.
Stories Untold - £4.49 until 2nd Nov Carrion - £13.49 until 2nd Nov Paradise Killer - £12.39 until the 1st Nov
I'm mainly looking forward to Paradise Killer and Stories untold since they are a change of pace from all the action games I've been playing recently.

I watched the trailer for Carrion yesterday, looks nothing like the actual game haha. I'm kind of intrigued to play it although I hear that it is very short.
Paradise Killer looks like it could be a lot of fun, might pick that up.

Stories Untold is meant to be a couple hours as well but I'm okay with having a few games I can blitz through in one or two sessions.
Also glad to hear you might be jumping on Paradise Killer as I honestly thought more of the forum would have jumped on it when I brought it up a few weeks back.

I just recently discovered some cool guys I follow were involved in Paradise Killer so I'm more keen than ever.

I get the impression that PK's more open-ended that your Ace Attorneys and the like. I know it's functionally open-world, but regarding the actual plot side I believe you can start the denouement whenever you want - is that right?

I've not started it yet but I believe so, while I like the freedom in having that choice it'd be a bit of a shite experience if you proved your case within an hour or less.

Anyone pick up much in the recent sales? I finally got Raji off my wishlist and onto my Switch - it was only discounted by 20%, but I think it's pretty cool that there's a game based on Indian myth and I don't mind paying a reasonable amount to support that.

I'm waiting for Raji to go on sale myself but on Xbox (could come to GP) that thoughts would be appreciated.
I've downloaded via Xbox GP Haven and Phogs which might be some interest to you being CO-OP with them on/coming to Switch. Thoughts to come when I actually play them.
