Just finished Rain on your Parade thanks to Game Pass which Smurf brought up in here. It's fine, close to Donut County that sort of thing and might be worth getting for a fiver.

Going to do a little plug for There Is No Game: Wrong Dimension. It's a point and click that's thus far been mostly an elaborate interface screw, which is the sort of thing I really go for. Ninty Life gave it 9 and it's at 88 on Metacritic if such things mean much to you. Amusing narration at times as well.

I do know. Not as well as you, but... yes. Backlog.
Since I have no such qualms, I've also started Ikenfell. It's an RPG with a battle system that feels like a cross between Chrono Trigger and the Mario RPGs, about a magical school. My second party member's gender-neutral, and it makes me very happy to think that the wrong sort of person frothed over it. Also you stroke cats to save. I've warmed to it already.

It's on the wishlist right next to What the Golf...

Following a couple of finished games (see the appropriate thread), yesterday I picked up:
Darkside Detective, a laugh-out-loud funny point-and-click supernatural adventure with hints of Twin Peaks and Stranger Things. Might be a bit short but the narrative's excellent so far (two cases in out of six, with three more mini-episodes apparently as DLC).
Pumpkin Jack. Never say your recommendations aren't helpful: Nintendo Life gave it 8/10, but I'd probably not have picked it up had Cappa not given it the same score. It's fun platforming so far, albeit very linear and I couldn't really see what was going on... Maybe not one to play at midday.
So there's your Hallowe'en game recommendations sewn up. In May.

How much was Pumpkin Jack? I thought it was an excellent throwback to PS2 platformers, that'll be why you're finding it very linear! It looks pretty mucky in handheld mode too, definitely recommend playing it on the TV (if you're not already)

I don't know the exact price, but it was a third off so I thought I'd take a punt! I was playing it on the telly because Nintendo Life said the same as you, but it was midday and the sun was streaming in.

Knockout City - the online dodgeball game that EA showed at the last Nintendo Direct - has a week long trial on eShop (and everywhere else). I've played a bit of it, and I've found it good fun - it's got an addictive gameplay loop while being approachable and fun to play. Recommend you give it a shot

I played it on Xbox as its in EA Play (Part of Game Pass Ultimate) regardless of the 10 day trial.
And seems fun enough and all these trials and on EA Play, should do better than Rocket Arena.

World's End Club comes out today. I don't know if anybody apart from myself and Mas (who already has the retail copy) is interested much, but I enjoyed the free demo. a fair bit so I'm quite keen to give Danganronpa x a 2D platformer a go.

A bit late now but I've really liked what I've played of Knockout City, it's got real one more game energy to it and sometimes it feels so satisfying when you pull off a good move. Played on both Switch and PlayStation and will probably buy on the latter I think though as I might just do the EA Play thing as it's pretty much the same price, I'm happy to report the Switch version runs just as well though, just bit uglier to look at.

Started myself tonight and seems like it's going to be more 2D platformer than a Danganronpa/Zero Escape type thing.

It's... really strange. The game pulls a bait-and-switch, and suddenly you've escaped and are wandering through abandoned Japan. I can't say I'm hugely enamoured with the platforming gameplay so far. Maybe it opens up when you get new super skills.
I also bought Ori and the Will-o-the-Wisps on sale, and at this early stage I'm much keener on it than the first game! I think the big change is that the combat isn't god-awful with no sense of punch, and as a result there's more of a focus on that and less on the precision platforming with Floaty Boy. The inclusion of friendly NPCs that aren't Growly Tree helps too, and I've heard it gets less oppressively purple later on...

I'm not sure it is. Kind of a text-heavy side-scrolling adventure with very simple platforming bits. I'm not sure I like it much, to tell the truth. The adventuring is facile and slow, and the writing isn't tremendous, with lots of emphasis on fwiendship. I preferred it when they were backstabbing each other.

I may play it if it comes to Xbox and if it's in Game Pass
Looking back at some of the better reviewed June games, this is not all of them as you have a rough idea about Doki Doki Literature Club.
Any of you played any of these or planning to?
Alba: a Wildlife Adventure and Umurangi Generation
Both of those seem to be photography based also there is Beasts of Maravilla, but that one seems bad.
Astalon: Tears of the Earth and ENDER LILIES: Quietus of the Knights
Those two seem to be Metroidvania type things.
Overboard!, Winds of Change and LEGO Builder's Journey
All a bit different these three, and Overboard sort why looking at some of best reviewed games as it is currently the Number 3 game on Opencritic this year.
