| I still like gamey games but Nintendo first party normally gives me that in a way I like.
I was surprised at top 5 as well but more that it isn't the AAA I think off which more lines of Cyberpunk 2077 (mainly as more people can play them) stuff but shows I guess we don't play much of them or rate them highly, along with lack of chat I see about PlayStation exclusives on here.
I'm wondering if the Nintendo one will be mainly Nintendo first party type stuff as well or indies will do well, as you all know my views on Nintendo's 2020 and I can see it being more indie focused vote.
I'm still yet to play Fall Guys, had hopes from the Xbox Game Pass Twitter but seems that was a misunderstanding. |

| Interesting following these votes! I didn't vote myself as I wasn't active here most of the year. If I was going to my top 5 of the year (which just went live on youtube [/plug]) only had one Nontendo game in it in The Last of Us Part II. I think I'd have struggled for a full list but then the nontendo boundary for Switch multiplatforms is always blurry! |

Final Fantasy VII Remake felt like it come out like the year before, 2020 seemed like such a long year |

| And now, a short break from awards to give you: GNew Year's Resolutions(9 contributors)- Gaming-related:
- I've added my entire game library into Backloggery; I've then also made a separate list in OneNote of the games that are a priority. It's still too long and I fear it's going to grow as opposed to shrink, but I realise that time is not infinite, and I don't need to download and install Garfield Kart for the LOLs. *checks priority list* wait why is that on here
- Keep the backlog low. It’s down at 6 games at the moment: if it could stay there that’d be dandy.
- I Plan to play ALOT more Switch this year. My backlog is out of control and full of great experiences i've missed out on. I've had the Hori Split Pads for the last few months and that has drastically improved the Switch in Handheld for me. So expect to see me alot more on the forum this year!!
- I’ll be working my way through a PS4 backlog, that I fear will inevitably grow, as PS4 games get cheaper throughout 2021. I’ve acknowledged that I’m not a retro gamer and not a current-gen gamer, but a last-gen gamer. There's a longstanding fascination with videogames that have been and gone and I reckon the next year or two will be similar. I'll keep my eye on Nintendo too.
- Forum-related:
- In terms of this forum, probably just not vanishing for months at a time... although that has been my style for the past however many years. *checks signature I mean, I've technically been here almost 13 years now…
- Time for the Snack Reviews Thread to return.
- Get outta there!:
- Move house. It’s lovely to hear my upstairs neighbour’s every word of dialogue, but I could do with some better nights’ sleep.
- Languishing in London for the time being, hopefully, move somewhere else and work remotely permanently in the summer.
- Creative and sporty:
- I continue to write occasional music reviews, but I would like to do more creative writing. Random videogame musings but also dip my toes into something more substantial that could intertwine with my true passion - data. Something like “who is the greatest wrestler” or “what videogame system is the best value for money” and throw a load of data/stats into the equation. I posted a comment on a Sky Sports YouTube video (that was about “who is the greatest British football team ever”) and used their “points-based system” and applied it to European teams, and it had over 2,000 likes. So there is a demand for it, I just need to work out how I could make it read-able. A book or blog perhaps!
- I'm also continuing to grow my substantial DVD collection of Oscar nominees.
- Just to be a bit more physically active & try to get back into Skateboarding that I done in my earlier twenties.
- Keep up the gym and that. Get swole.
- Finally, stay well:
- To maintain how I'm feeling in this present month, keep my head held high and take on this year as best as I can. Can't ask for more than that.
- I've quit scrolling social media; twitter and facebook aren't even on my phone any more and instagram is still there for me to post hiking pics but I'm not looking at the feed.
- Have good mental health despite everything.
That's a lot of resolutions, which is great to see. Obviously everyone here's health, including mental health, should come first. After that, if you find some time to play more games, do more fun stuff, or just spend a bit more time here - well, that'd be grand.

| Nice to read some of the resolutions and hope everyone smashes them, can't remember if I made any myself but they're probably along the lines of many of the ones above. - JayMoyles wrote:

I was the other first place voter, Last of Us Part II is outstanding don't get me wrong but I didn't feel the urge to return to it as frequently as I did Final Fantasy which had me feeling excited as I sat down to play it. To me Remake did everything it set out to do and I'm so pumped for the next part and Last of Us by the end had me exhausted with it (although I think I'd now be ready for more from the series). |

And they absolutely don't have to be! It's just there as a guide. Trouble is, without any sort of shortlist we end up with... well, with this year's Post Award. I think some structure does help focus the general attention there. I have finally finished drafting every award post, which means I can come on here and actually talk about games as opposed to dancing the Copy-Paste Minuet every time. Phew. |

| I think the problem wasn't with GNamer's structure this year but with the structure and fabric of our very reality breaking down. I can't remember who's a nazi and who's a liberal cuck, or what will kill me and what won't, how can I remember a good post about the PS2 having a nice library of B-games? |

| Forgot about resolutions as part of the awards as I posted in a old thread my gaming ones, which are
Don't buy a PS5 till 10 physical exclusive games, I currently own 3 games so waiting for Deathloop, Returnal, Horizon 2 etc to come out.
Don't buy a retro console I don't already own eg might pick up a 360 as mines basically broke, I mean not buying a Saturn or N64 or AES for reasons.
Buy less new retail releases games as one point last year I bought Falconeer, Yakuza LAD and Immortals which I've barely played any as I was playing AC Valhalla anyway. Always going to be a sale or a download that comes out where I may get something, I'm talking £40-70 games that I want to keep to like two each pay month, so basically 26 games in 2021.
Play more Switch, picked up an actual Switch that I plan to play more which is some backlog like Age of Calamity and a frontlong to come with likes of Persona 5 Strikers.
All this really goes into BACKLOG pretty much as I've got a lot of games to play, I plan not to get retro for anything I don't have, and with waiting on PS5 and Xbox having a lot of stuff on Game Pass then keep it down of what's added to the front log. |

| I wouldn't buy all 7 games in one go I'd get a PS5 with like 3 or 4 games then once I've finished Horizon 2 then trade that in for Returnal and so on
I just need a bigger library to justify getting a PS5 now then I did at launch as I'm going to play likes of Resident Evil Village on XSX and stuff like Persona 5 Strikers on Switch instead of the one place, that a PS5 for me now is just for the exclusives. |

| @Treesmurf: I just thought that given his Switch-buying activities, the machine price might not be the biggest problem if there's a game he really wants? Anyway, back to the awards! THE FAWFUL AWARD FOR FUNNIEST FORUMITE(10 votes)The first of our forumite awards - and maybe the most sought-after? Who's given a lighter edge to 2020? - Third Place:
= Crumpy Andy (1 vote) You say:"Did this whole bit about the taste of fridges and the noise of drinks." = The_Jaster (1 vote) You say:"Here’s a man who puts in the funnies year after year, yet never seems to get the reward he deserves. Whether it’s coming up with hilarious sleep-deprived posts or just timing the pants off a .gif, Jaster deserves to win this at least once." I say: A good start, with two underrated funnymen who often deliver the giggles.
- Second Place:
Jimbob (2 votes)You say:"It’s been a good year for the big man." I say: The king dethroned. It's felt like a quieter year for Jim for me - then I started going through top taglines and realised, he's been there all along. He's just so funny nobody can think of new ways to say it!
- And The Winner Is...:
= Buskalilly (3 votes) You say:"Gone are the days of his drunken rants yet he's still incredibly funny, smart humour, silly humour, he can do 'em all." "Can I think of particular examples? Not really. But Buska is the one who most consistently makes me titter by slagging people off (usually Balla or mas)." "Cunt" = The Cappuccino Kid (3 votes) You say:"Still makes me chuckle after all this time with his wry and blunt sense of humour. Gave me some much needed laughs in all too often mirthless year." "I feel like the big man hasn't won it for a few years but he can be a funny fucker." "Cappa’s N64 reviews stick with me as well-written retrospectives interspersed with enough passion and humour so as to make me want to read more. I’ve enjoyed posts from Jimbob, Balla, Buska and Muss in particular, but the longer form ramblings tend to be my cup of tea and Cappa gets my vote." I say: Chuffed with this. That Buska would rise again as Jimbob's star fell (slightly, by one vote): that was expected. Buska and Jim are the two established funnymen of this place, and odds are if one hasn't made you laugh this week the other has. Seeing Cappa join him, though, is great. It's felt like a long time since anyone else has disrupted the established order of humour in this place, and it's nice to see it shaken up, just a little!
Next: an old 'favourite' that came out surprisingly well this time around! |

| You do know me to well and something like Ratchet would tempt me and could cave for it, as I put my refund back in the bank from my previous PS5 but even the Switch just got, I only got because like 15 games (admittedly some I would bought on PlayStation) I would like on it. |

| I've been away for a couple of weeks - thanks for whoever voted for my rambling about Captain Blood - a game that no-one should have to know (as a 10 year old, I could've seen space titties! God dammit) and also thanks for voting for me in the funny thing, which I appreciate, but I'm also glad I didn't win in a way, as I think there are several people here who are bloody hillarious, and I'm glad to be involved with so much #bantz with you all. |

| You timed your return well, Jim... THE THOUSAND-YEAR-DOOR AWARD FOR BEST TAGLINE(9 votes)Usually the messiest award, this year it... well it had to be better than 'Post', right? - Third Place:
With a vote apiece:
51 Worldwide Protests Against Racism "This one sums up 2020 in a way, the fact that there are still protests against racism, and that there has to be 51 of them."
Feat. Jay ‘The Arsehole’ Moyles vs. ROSS YOU DOBBER "I like a bit of drama."
GNamer Secret Santa Sign-Ups Cease Sunday! "Was worried that I wouldn't have a third to vote for for a second."
Moving Out? Not In This Climate You're Not "Very apt unfortunately."
Not to be confused with the pizza-maker, Papa Mario the Oregano King "This still makes me laugh, is oregano even an ingredient on pizza?" (It is, right? I didn't get this horribly wrong, did I? - Balla)
Please go vote in the 2019 Annual Awards! We've only had one voting thread all decade… "Banger"
We ate up that LEGO-Nintendo crossover news, but it's our wallet that's s**tting bricks. "A GJones tagline is like diamond: rare yet sparkling. Here’s to more next year."
What is a backlog? A miserable pile of unplayed games! "But enough talk, have at yo- oh, oh wait, gotta fire up FFXIV again."
Beautiful, in a Monstrous Way; like Godzilla with a Bit of Lippy In today's news: "Dyslexic Pokemon fans continue to keep Pikmin franchise alive” Our Reviewing Algorithm Gives All Indie Games 7/10 Paper Mario has a new course in Mario Kart 8. It's based on the A4. Tundrabolts and Lightning
I say: A really nice thing this year was that we got comments, and often entertaining comments, with the tagline votes. Good to see!
- Second Place:
= XBOX, JIM CARREY, SEE A BEAR, FETA CHEESE (2 votes)You say:"This had me humming it for days afterwards. Days! Oh God I typed this and now I’m off again DAMN IT RUM" "SEND ME ROCKS." = Fill thee not up on snackes; there's yet dinner (2 votes)You say: ...not much! I say: The recipe for a successful tagline is: for me not to type it! Yep, I didn't type the winner either, and I stole these belters from Rum and Buska. Hey, there's a reason I don't reel in the votes for Funniest Forumite.
- And The Winner Is...:
= Bum Poo Wee Games Month (3 votes) You say:"Made me giggle therefore proving I am a child." "The only tagline we deserve." = Wow, it looks like an ancient piece of pottery! It plays like an ancient piece of poo. (3 votes) You say:"Okay, apart from this one." (Genuinely follows on from the comment above!)"Jimbob in “making people laugh” non-shocker." = We built this city on sausage rolls (3 votes) You say:"Bangers." I say: So, how to make a good tagline (if you're not me): in-jokes, or be Jimbob and use the word 'poo'. Simple enough!
So, yeah. Please give me more tagline ideas, funny people!

I shall not have my first GNamer Forum Award discredited in this manner. Bringing the prestige of a GNamer Post of the Year award and the GNamacademy into disrepute. |
