| It's that time of year again!
Everyone loves a vote thread, really, and what bigger vote thread do we have than the end of year awards.
Let's get started!
THE GNAMER FORUM AWARDS 2019
First off - no rush on this one lads. I know it's the festive period, we've got stuff like Secret Santa and the Fantasy League preoccupying us as it stands, so I'm giving you guys until Sunday 19th January at 23:59 to get your votes in. That's four weeks, so you've basically got a month to whip up your votes. No excuses now. I'll track you all down. I'll do it, I swear.
Please chuck us some comments too when you vote! It's not as much fun if I'm just revealing a list of numbers, so tell us why you voted for whatever you're voting for. Again, no obligation to do so but like I said, it makes these awards feel a bit more special when we get some comments in.
One thing to add - you don't need to vote in every category! If you genuinely can't muster up some answers, don't force yourself to. I appreciate any and all votes.
The only change from last year's awards is that Signature of the Year is gone. Really, only Drunka and Balla change theirs often enough and as much as I'd love to give Cappa my vote in this category for the fourth year running, it probably doesn't warrant inclusion any longer.
Right, here's your categories:
Contributor of the Year (two votes, weighted equally) - You know the script for this one by now. It's our "main" award for the person that's made GNamer tick this year. Who's delivered the best threads, whipped up some cracking posts and generally made you want to keep logging back onto our Good Ship GNamer?
Funniest Forumite (one vote) - Arguably the most coveted award in our line-up. Who's made you laugh the most this year on the forum?
Post of the Year (three votes, in order of preference) - What posts have stood out to you as cracking bits of discourse or gut-busting funnies? Check the Posts Appreciation Thread for some inspiration!
Topic of the Year (three votes, in order of preference) - What threads have been must-read as soon as you sign onto the forum this year?
Tagline of the Year (three votes, weighted equally) - Which of the forum's line-up of subtitled made you smirk or chuckle or just befuddled you this year? The Tagline Thread has 2019's offerings ready to go for this category.
Nintendo Game of the Year (five votes, in order of preference) - Which Switch titles, either retail or eShop, blew you away in the year that was 2019? Or did you enjoy a 3DS title that apparently came out in 2019?
Nontendo Game of the Year (five votes, in order of preference) - What games on other platforms tickled your fancy this year? Did you enjoy exploring Raccoon City again? Did you die twice? Did you cry uncontrollably at Norman Reedus hugging a baby like in that one hilarious PS4 Pro ad? Vote for the Nontendo Games you liked here!
Game of the Decade ten votes, in order of preference - A big bumper bastard of a category, but one I feel deserves the extra attention! As we're at the end of the 2010s, let's find out what GNamer's favourite games of the last ten years were. You can refer back to our chatter about the best year for releases in the 2010s in our big 2010s discussion thread if you're really stumped.
Honourable and Dishonourable Mentions - If there's anything else that comes to mind that you'd like to shout out or put down with your words, here's the place to do it!
GNew Year's Resolutions - What do you want to achieve in 2020? It could be linked to videogames, your personal life... anything really! Let us know.
Votes sent to me via PM on the forum, please! I'll tidy up this thread in a wee bit with some FAQs and useful links - I wanted to get this rolling!
I look forward to your votes, GNamer!

| Nintendo game doesn't have to be a Nintendo game eg Fire Emblem Three Houses and can be an old game but came out this year on Nintendo systems such as Final Fantasy IX plus if I remember right, vote for Nintendo first eg Sayonara Wild Hearts even though I've played on Apple Arcade. |

| That's how I'm doing it!
Event of the year, right here. I'll get some votes up over the Christmas period! |

Correct-a-mundo. Multiplats slot into the Nintendo category primarily. I'll likely just reuse Balla's excellent FAQs from last year when I tidy up the thread. |

| I was bored tonight, so I sat down and typed out an entire slate... I want to try to finish LM3 before I send it because that could affect my voting order (as could Link's Awakening, Dragon Quest XI, A Hat in Time, and a bunch of other stuff... but I could actually finish LM3), but otherwise I appear to be good to go. what is wrong with me |

| I shouldn't be too far behind as I know what my Top 10 games of 2019 are, just got to put order and see what came out on Switch of those.
The forum awards are a tad harder mind.
Edit Mine are now in for what I can do as I'm a tad iffy on the forum side of the awards |

| Cheers for the votes so far, gents. I know the rest of the gang will still likely be wrapped up in festive revelry, so no rush yet, but thanks for the early entries! |

| Double post, but I wanted a fresh notification to go out to the forum for this update. So, I was a mug and totally forgot to include a category I wanted for this year's awards. I've added in a Top 10 Games of the Decade category as we're at the end of the 2010s and all, and I figured it would be a fun category to round out our line-up of categories. Fortunately, this update is only inconvenient for Balla and Mas, who I hope will be kind and fire me another contribution for that category at least. If not, don't sweat it! Right, back to patiently waiting for more votes. |

| Easily done as I posted on twitter which is based around my Top 25 of All-Time as seen others do it along with sites but they were doing more of the best game from 2010, 2011, 2012 and so on till they had the 10 games which is fine but to me, 2017 for arguments sake may have three games better than the best game from 2011, that doing an overall Top 10 like we're doing just makes more sense.

| I too have an all-time top 25 ready to refer to at a moment's notice, although I wrote an essay for each game that Jay could probably use for his pitching the best games thread... |

| I've got a couple of games at the minute to play that could make my list so probably won't send anything through for the next week. |

| That's not a problem both of you!
I'm actually holding off on my own votes until I polish off Pokémon Shield. |

| Sent in my gaming votes. Err'd on the side of caution in not including any switch-available games in the Nontendo list |

| OR's post reminds me: GRcade recently did their votes for games of the decade and seemingly forgot en masse that Ghost Trick was a 2010s release, apart from OR who is (yes) a scab.
Don't be scabs, GNamer. (GRcade did get the top game right though.) |

| I've still never played Ghost Trick, surprised it's not been ported seeing it gets talked about a lot. |

| You can get it on the App Store if you have an Apple device. Don't know if there's an Android equivalent. It's worth playing regardless of platform. |

| Shame it's on Apple TV compatible as not on anything else part from DS which I could pick up but can't really see me playing. |

| I will send in my votes next week. Depending on how much I enjoy Disco Elysium, it genuinely might be my top game of the decade. Is this my version of Jay's Undertale thoughts? Maybe, but the game hasn't let me down yet! |
