Squeenix sold off all their Westerny stuff. Great news, right? Means the company can devote more time, money, and resources to the JRPGs that made their names?

Interesting. No judgement yet one way or another, I'll wait until I have the game in my hands. The change will take some getting used to though.

The bigger news is after like what two years Microsoft has finally closed the deal on buying ABK, at the moment not sure how much will change but it is pretty big being on mainstream news and costing $69b.

See I'd thought you have a lot of views on it.

I'm with Buska, for two reasons.  (1) The Actiblahblah stuff has been going on for ages.  All of the interesting takes have already been given.  It's not news, it's olds.  (2) It's going to affect many fewer of us than Mario's voice.  If you're still here, odds are you're playing Mario Wonder.  Meanwhile Buska and I will go from not playing Actiblizz games because of Actiblizz, to not playing them because we don't have an XBox; you and Andy will go from playing Actiblizz games, to still playing Actiblizz games. There are some other impacts I guess, but we have another thread for those.

So anyway, what do people think of Kevin?

I was thinking more other impact will have on games industry. Though has been lots of takes already.

I heard various sound clips before I played the game & thought some things sounded a bit off, almost as if the Mario voice was maybe slipping into his own a bit? Mainly when he says the word "wonderful" BUT now that I've played the game for a few hours I think he's doing a cracking job.

Yes! The 'wonderful' does feel a bit off! Now that I've started playing too, I think I'd agree with you that that's the only real area where he drops the ball. In a way it's sad that it feels like he's gone straight for a Martinet impression, but I guess it's hard to put your own spin on such an iconic character without coming under fire. He'll get other chances I'm sure.

It feels like the perfect game to change voice actor in, as it feels very fresh overall. Odyssey was a wonderful send-off for Martinet, this is an equally wonderful introduction for Afghani.

*whipsers* I think I might prefer Afghani's Luigi.

Does Afghani do the flowers? I fucking hate the flowers. The rest is fine though.

Yep, you can. Also I'm with Balla in that I don't get why some folk find them annoying.

It's one of those things that should be annoying in theory, but is done so nicely that I couldn't help but love it.

The caterpillar on the other hand...

I just hate their awful voices, if it was just speech bubbles or simlish or something I'd be alright with it.

Oh, I put a post about Emio in here, then reckoned it should go in its own thread for daft suggestions instead so removed it. I didn't know anybody had thread notifications on...

I basically have thread notifications on by default in every thread I've posted in, and now I even get pop-ups on my desktop.
