Great, so now when Trump wages trade war on China Australia can look forward to going down the s***er, which in turn will make our government go in to austerity overdrive. YAY, BEST DAY EVER!
Still I think and hope all western governments look upon this, and Brexit, and reflect that the days where they happily ignore the lower classes of the population to their increasing duress are over.
Looks like I'm going to have to cancel some international orders thanks to the tanking dollar. *sigh*

Fuck.
If there's any hope to be found here, maybe the left will start trying to actually be a thing again. Centrist, Blairite, Hillary Clinton bollocks doesn't win hearts and minds. Nobody was passionate about Hillary, just about keeping Trump out, and that doesn't energise voters. Real or not, the face he presented was that of change, and that's what people want. The "centre left" is just more of the same, and if they want people to vote for something other than fascism they need to give them a real alternative.
It's like Transformers. The Autobots and Decepticons were both opposed to the old order, but they offered alternatives to it. Before Optimus came along, it was Megatron or the status quo, so even right-thinking individuals went with Megs.

On the plus side, the tanking dollar means the pound isn't looking too bad right now...
Also, can only agree with Drunka. The politics of attacking the lead face of the opposite campaign has failed twice now in major situations - time to change it up, y'all.

"We're gonna build a wall, and Scotland are gonna pay for it".
Honestly as bad as Trump is going to be there's a part of me that looks forward to the smashing of the system. Because it's f***ing broken and the only way it'll ever change is if it's forced to change.
Not that I think Trump will do it of course, I'm not that naive. But he's awoken a beast, and I doubt it'll go back to sleep until change occurs. Until then we'll just have to weather the storm.

That's the one positive I've seen to this. After four years of Trump there may not be much left (in either sense of that word), but what there is will surely realise that putting out another corporate centre-left robot won't fly.
Exactly why the Democrats were morons for choosing Clinton over Sanders. Whatever happened there was no way to lose, either Sanders faced someone like Trump and won or the Establishment was rid of him when with a hypothetical establishment candidate from the Republicans.
Actually the fact they chose Hillary over Sanders is kind of astonishing. Under no circumstances was Hillary ever the right choice. The public hates her, they hated her before she was even chosen, and the only chance for victory was praying Trump was her opponent and having him implode. Which he somehow avoided.
Honestly the fury I feel towards the Democrats right now is right up there. They cost the world and their own country big time, and all because they were terrified to give a public what they wanted. It's poetically ironic that the party named after democracy was as undemocratic as humanly possible in selecting their candidate, the penalties they shall now suffer are entirely deserved.

What I do?
I wouldn't have done a vote for Brexit for a start as we are better with our European neighbours or start a pointless war which is bound to happen now.
And I think I would run as a Lib Dem, so I'd never get it.

I ain't up for laughing about this quite yet. Sorry person-behind-Hopkins.
I just realised something, and it's far scarier than Trump winning.
The Republicans have the presidency, the senate, and the congress. They can pass literally whatever legislation they want.
I'm almost more scared about the prospect of Trump getting impeached and Pence taking over. Scary things are going to go down next year. Very very scary.

Oh yes. Did you not realise beforehand? Unlike Obama's two terms, laws are actually going to get passed this time.
