| I've never liked the use of "Pride" about sexuality as it is, something you happen to be isn't worth being proud about (I guess it's because that's the opposite of shame?). It's pretty disgusting seeing it used for the 99%, |

| Andy, I think it's celebrating that gay people don't have to hide it away any more (well not in this country (well not in some places in this country)). You're not proud of being gay as such (I dunno you might be), but nor are you feeling forced to disguise it either. |

I think that's the one, it started out as a "we don't have to be afraid thing." When Pride feels as ridiculous as this hetero one, the world will be where it needs to be. |

| Worth following the hashtag #GoveSongs this morning. Current favourite: "What's new silly tw*t, whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh?" |

| Ozzie election one night to go woohoo! Fingers crossed the senate has a ton of independents holding the balance of power and see the Libs get thrown out as the PM has his authority undermined at every turn! Down with hard right wing conservatism regression! |

| HUNG PARLIAMENT TIME HECK YEAH!
Okay, probably a tad early for that declaration since our Treasurer is quiet right to bring up the postal votes which are going to favour incumbents (aka Libs), but holy moly this is looking hung right now! 76 seats needed to form government outright, 73 to the conservative liberals, 66 to labour, 1 to the greens, 4 to independents (GO XENOPHON!) and six still up for grabs where at least three will probably go to non-Liberals. Going to be a while before the counts can confirm what the result is going to be, but one thing is clear: Turnbull lacks the mandate of the people to override his party on certain issues (*cough*gaymarriage*cough*) and because of that will have to bow to the wishes of the far right, thus making him unpopular with the public preventing him getting a mandate.
Going to be an uncomfortable term for him I reckon, assuming he even survives to the next election since everyone knows how us Australians love the sport of Leadership Spills.
Best bit is even if the Liberals win the house of reps the senate balance of power is probably going to be independents galore if the massive swing in the house of reps is anything to go by. |

| News has been a bit miserable of late here, hasn't it? And frankly it doesn't sound much better in Oz. You know where news is great?

| So, Donald Trump is an asshat. But so are some of the people who support him. Such outrage poured out over this guy and this culture already... please tell me it can't get any worse? |

| I'm just sitting back relishing the ongoing trainwreck that is trump's campaign as the thing falls apart. Still it says a lot that the guy even made it this far, and none of what it says is good. |

| I worry immensely about, even if things seem to be steering away from Immediate Apocalpyse, the aftermath. In the last few years we've had deluded nationalists in America forming a "militia" (not terrorists because they're native Americans*) claiming to take over an area for the good of the country. If these people are deluded enough to think that the single-minded hatred that comes out of the guy's mouth is the Right Thing, despite every proven fact pointing towards the contrary, then there will be a number of ignorant buffoons who will assume that they were robbed of an election tf Drumpf says so. There may well still be irreversible hell. After the EU referendum (sorry if you missed this one) it became obvious that (a) several people didn't know what they were actually voting for, and (b) many people twisted the (successful for them) result to give them the go ahead to racially abuse people. At least in Britain they didn't have guns.
*i.e. not Native Americans |

| The War College did a good episode on those American "militias" recently. Fucking terrifying.
Reminds me of the Farage quote, that if we didn't vote Brexit "violence would be the next course of action". |

| Just found this. Anyone want a free nightmare on me? Here ya go! Disclaimer: Arachnophobes are advised not to click. Or google the term "Huntsman Spider". - The story without the image!:
Long story short some guy up in Queensland found a Huntsman Spider dragging a mouse up his fridge to eat in peace. Yes, it dragged an actual MOUSE up the fridge. Think, how big must a spider be to be strong enough to drag a mouse up a fridge? Have a nice sleep!
