File under the "hope this isn't true" rumour category. Reuben Lagdon, the voice of Raiden in Metal Gear said he did something for Smash Bros. Here's hoping that he got confused with PS All Stars Battle, because this makes zero sense.

Personally I couldn't care less if any of these outsiders get in. They tend to stand out like sore thumbs. Bring on the random obscure N characters.

I guess I will have a punt and guess that the stage is from Kid Icarus. I haven't even played any of the games, those statues however look important as to identifying the true answer and my guess is that their heads are missing because they depict Medusa or something.

Medusa is a character in Kid Icarus right?

Medusa is indeed in Kid Icarus and if you can play Uprising.

If it is a KIU stage (and it looks like a good shout), then that makes a second Wii U Icarus stage along with the one with stone Palutena in the background, meaning... a second KIU character!?

Or it's just another form of the same stage.

So, what are people hoping for from the Direct?  I'd like some playable Ridley (reasonably likely), playable Miis (unlikely), and some more detail on the one-player modes please (very likely).

Character wise I'm hoping we get the new fire emblem rep announcement, and I hope it's a chrom/lucina tag team similar in concept to the ice climbers, although that has pretty much zero chance of actually happening. Other characters I hope to see would be ghirahim, toon ganondorf (or just any ganondorf that isn't a sodding awful clone of falcon)/demise, mewtwo, or wolf. Stage wise I'm hoping for something cool looking that isn't one of those annoying scrolling stages and doesn't have palkia ruing things like on spear pillar. And mode wise I'd be happy just seeing arcade mode have a robust score system again like in melee and 64, brawl's arcade mode lacked replay value in part because it wasn't anywhere near as fun as the previous two games with trying to get as many point conditions as possible along with playing well.

I thought this was 11am not pm, I'm going to be a sleep then as I've got to be up 5am for work. Only good thing getting up and going straight to work I can avoid any spoilers from the Direct and watch it soon as I get back home.

If they're giving the game a whole direct to itself, release details seem likely. A character or two might be nice as well.

That's rubbish.  I mean, if it's not ready it's not ready, and it's good that they shot it down now rather than waiting for the reveal (take note Squeenix), but I think most of us were hoping for something concrete. Apart from anything else, that'd mean the game was close to finished!

Remember that 3D World wasn't even announced this time last year, let alone given a release date.
