Wii Fit trainer? Well, at least that's a slightly more sane idea than the 3DS. Slightly.

I thought that the Villager was a nice idea... kinda funny. And then they broke out the new challenger thing.
"Oh here we go, I expect it's another bloody Sega charac... wait, hang on, it's... YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" Yelling joyously at a badly-buffering web-video is one of the dumbest things I've done, but never mind. "Well this can't get any bette-OH GOD HE HAS THE POWERS OF THE OTHER MANS! YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE"

I wonder if one of the new characters will be Cammie Dunnaway!

I still really want Reggie in the game. He should be part of Wii Fit lady's Final Smash, bellowing "IS YOUR BODY READY...FOR THIS" and then his massive face looms in the background and he spews beams of concentrated ass-kicking whilst cackling.

Surely Professor Layton can get in now. Have him use Luke as a bat to smack people about with.

Hitting other fighters and hearing "feel the burn" has already made her the besst character ever.
Can't remember if there was any hint of it in the trailer but does anyone think 5-man brawls might be a possibility? Makes perfect sense with Wii U and wouldn't be difficult for the 3DS to handle either.

Wii Fit Trainer?! Kudos to you, if you saw that coming. The roster is shaping up nicely; still holding out hope for Mii (likely) and Paper Mario (not quite as likely). Do we think version-specific characters might be used?

Seems doubtful. To be honest, I think version-specific stages are where the buck should stop. They're a good idea though: at the moment, the 3DS seems to have the best of it. I've been wanting a Spirit Tracks-themed course for ages, and the NSMB one doesn't look bad either!

If you could use the same characters in both games but playing on different sets of stages makes the most sense, especially if they're still planning on the whole 'customise DS characters for the Wii U games' thing.

Normally I'd complain about the lack of new characters being shown off for big franchises, but I'm laughing too much at the awesomeness of Villager and Wii Fit Trainer to mind. Awesome additions.

No one seems to have mentioned this here, but Nintendo after E3 released several Developer Direct videos for various games (They're all worth viewing!) The Smash Bros one lasts for 8 minutes, and nautrally features Sakurai explaining more about the game.

And this being the internet, some "dodgy" fan art of Wii Fit Trainer has already emerged. I won't link for obvious reasons. Sigh.

I was perusing Tumblr pics of The Villager and was chuckling. Thought I could do the same with Wii Fit Woman... I thought wrong.

Mega Man looks like an odd one. His basic moves seem to be largely long range, meaning he'll play like SCII's Kilik and be rubbish at close combat. Wii Fit trainer looks fairly middle-of-the road so far, if a bit jumpy and floaty; and Animal Crossing chap looks like a small short-range power character, which is odd but supports the meme admirably.

Is this game going to be rated 18 now that villager has got involved?
