The Wonderful 101 (Kickstarted on Switch!)

Possibly the revealed Wii U game I'm most excited about, it's out on 23rd August (my birthday!), which is later than one might have hoped.  Still, it looks suitably madcap.  Maybe it'll make me like an RTS!  Who knows?

So, anyone else going to be impatiently bouncing up and down for this?

I'll probably be getting it just as I'm finishing Pikmin 3, so I just hope its a different enough game. I suppose we'll see more of this next month.

Aye, platinum games are a great dev so I'm really looking forward to this.

If it's made by Platinum you can bet that I'll be there waiting to get it.

Torn. I've never had much truck with RTSes but it looks so, so good... and you're managing superheroes, whom I appreciate very much.

I can see why folk say this is a RTS but it apparently plays more like a beat em up (if ye get what I mean) much like other Platinum games.

I can see that. Maybe that's why it's looking so appealing!

Hopefully we'll get a demo nearer release. If it plays like a good ol' barrel of punching, I'll be more than happy to jump right in after finishing pikmin.

If it's anything like Streets of Rage I am very keen. Even better if the music was as good as Streets of Rage 2!

Is this the only Nintendo Direct-featured game that hasn't been bumped? Whatever, I'm bumping it now. Aside from the incredibly sexist pink dominatrix, this is one of the games that most excited me in the ND, and possibly the best Wii U game this year.

Whilst, yes, incredibly sexist, she is probably slightly more clothed than most superheroines.  I'm going to wait for review scores - and the opinion of fellow GNamers (did we sort out what we're calling ourselves?) - before I pick this up. It does look grand, though!

Hey, it's still above Baynoetta 2 on the "games I feel comfortable playing when my mum's round". I'd be more concerned if I was French right now!
Either way, this trailer makes it even more awesome.

I'm not sure about this, either. I've never even brought myself to finish a Pikmin game, so I don't fancy this game's chances very much.

Matthew Castle made a rare venture into the world of CVG to tell me that this plays much more like a brawler than an RTS.  So that's all good.  (And I hated Pikmin and never played the sequels, Stu, so if I enjoy it you probably will too!)

I actually loved the Pikmin games to bits, but I'm still glad to hear this won't play like one. I don't think I'd feel up to it after Pikmin 3.

Day one for me, I was sold on it since going hands-on last year at Eurogamer (before then I didn't quite *get* it), and since then I really like how the game's been coming along. Particularly the GamePad, which had a fairly bare-bones interface for drawing your squad formations on.

Do like how dodging with the right trigger has parallels with Bayonetta, to me the game felt like a slight cross between that and Viewtiful Joe.

So we're definitely talking a brawler? Everyone says it's true, which means it's slid up to a day one purchase for me, too. Hideki Kamiya has said that it may not take all that long to finish the game, so here's hoping for a lower price point to sweeten the deal...

Probably, I only played a single level but it had a lot of variety in it.

I wouldn't worry *too* much about the game's length, it'll probably have a lot of replay value and unlockables. You're rewarded with a medal rank at the end of each section, like Bayonetta (I'm sure Pure Platinum will be the highest rank again!) so there's bound to be goodies to be had and scores to be beaten chasing higher overall ranks.

Matthew Castle gave this his seal of approval (again!) yesterday on Twitter: "I have no doubt that it will be amazing." It's shot to the top of my most wanted list for Wii U, I reckon, which is weird considering there's a 3D Mario game coming before the end of the year!
