Nintendo have turned into Sony and announced a vague intention to bring out a game one day.

Knowing it's in the works is enough for me currently. Although it would have been cooler to have this announced with some killer footage, without it's inclusion the presentation might have seemed lacking to those looking for da big gaims.

I too will take knowledge of its existence happily enough. Now to hope it's closer to the isolation of MP1 than the chat of MP3C...

So this might be a bit good. I'll definitely have to get back into the Trilogy now and push to the end in preparation.

This was the only announcement I was spoiled on going into watching the conference tonight and I still freaked out seeing the logo and that music. There's not much more to say right now beyond that I'm glad it's coming!
I've heard it's not Retro developing this time round though, but I trust in Nintendo and their teams.

It does beg the question what Retro are actually working on. This radio silence has been going on for a bit too long.

You'd think so at this point. Keep watching Treehouse for the Donkey Kong Country: Arctic Inferno announcement. For 3DS.

I sat there watching that teaser thinking that the music a low or slight as it was was sounding familiar and then saw the logo and I lost my shit

I wonder if Retro as it was even exists, or if they've been gutted and integrated into Nintendo studios. As I understand it, most of the Metroid Prime team went over to Recore (which is pretty good, by the way).

I've been thinking along those lines myself. "Maybe the reason we haven't heard what Retro Studios are working on is because there is no Retro Studios anymore," I mused. To myself.

A wee bump.
I'm bumping this a little because with me playing Samus returns I wouldn't actually mind if this turned out to be another 2D adventure, so what about you guys do you want it to be first person like all the other Prime games or classic 2D Metroid?
(side note: I'm not against either but my favourites in the series are the 2D games)

Now, I'm biased as all hell. I've never finished a 2D Metroid, although I've started twice. But... isn't that in itself reason enough to want a 3D one? Meanwhile Metroid Prime, the original one, remains one of my top games ever. Also my last Metroid (MSR) will have been 2D, and variety is a squirt of lemon juice in the eye of life.
Mind you, I'd rather a 2D game than a 3D one like MP3C, with its nattery NPCs.

Yeah that's fair I'm just thinking that with the extra oomph the Switch has I reckon they could do something really special in 2D & maybe even top Super Metroid.

Don't get me wrong...
A beautiful 2D Metroid, and 2D Zelda, and ((sighs) I guess) 2D Mario are all on my Switch bucket list. My hope is that the hybrid nature of the machine will mean that we do indeed get both in time. But I can wait until 2019/20 for 2D Metroid. It's been far longer since the last proper 3D one, let's have that in 2018!

Put my name in the '3D' column, good sir. The Prime name means 3D action and a return to 2D, as incredible as that could be, might cause a backlash of Federation Force proportions. No-one wants that: it's time to get megatons of positive energy out there about Metroid. Furthermore, the idea of a Prime you can carry about and play anywhere is extremely enticing. As already mentioned, both is good, but when forced to choose, let's get the third dimension back in the game.

I think the Prime name explicitly means the 3D, first-person perspective. It's not something we see much of from Nintendo, so I'm excited.

Someone did top Super Metroid it's called Symphony of the Night
I would like 3D as I feel as someone that doesn't like Metroid from the games I've played, I feel I'm more likely to give a 3D First Person a go.

I reckon there would be a bit of backlash because, as Drunka mentioned, the Prime subtitle suggests that it's going to be 3D.
My dream for Prime 4 would be a return to the lonely adventures of yore, much like Samus Returns or the first Prime. Get rid of all your space marine shite. I remember thinking back when Prime 3 launched that it all felt a bit too Halo. Nothing wrong with that when it's consigned to Halo's universe, but it felt a bit out of sorts in Metroid.

I love me some Halo, but I've got Halo. Metroid Prime 4 should be dark, dangerous, lonely, atmospheric archaeology.
