Delighted to see the first Phoenix Wright game make the list (not least because I voted for it!). I'm always edgy (yes) about games from a series (Ace Attorney, Layton, Pokémon) as they can split votes. Can't begrudge Bowser's Inside Story its place, either. Well keen to get into the top five now! |

As I'm about to start a postgraduate degree I'm eager to start it as soon as possible, be it this week or next. If someone else is wanting to take it off of my hands they're more than welcome to do so.
My plan is to wrap this up by Friday evening, so you could easily set off on Saturday or Sunday. The planned schedule is sixth and fifth tonight, fourth tomorrow, dishonourables and third place on Thursday and the honourables and top 2 on Friday. |

| Onwards with our favourite DS games! Sixth Place - - Spoiler:
Mario Kart DS - 27 pointsYou say: Vidofnir: The best Mario Kart. A great balance between characters and items bolstered with good controls. No naff motion mistakes here. nintenDUCK: I vaguely recalling not saying anything about this game in racing week and instead just plunged it in first and forgotten about it. I somewhat regret that but not to worry I can lavish it with my praise now instead. And gosh there is a lot to lavish. A superbly made installment into the franchise that I thoroughly enjoyed at the time and still boasts replay value despite being shoved aside by MK7. Stunning game. Buskalily: Probably my most played game on the DS for a long while. What a game- played like a treat, online multiplayer and some fantastic tracks. At my tender young age, this blew me away. I say: Not my favourite Mazza Kart by some way, but a forum favourite evidently. I didn't touch the online of this which was an apparent highligh; all I heard of the online was the ire of folk complaining about snaking. Fifth Place - - Spoiler:
The World Ends With You - 35 points (1st places - 2)You say: Balladeer: I've done some thinking since the RPG vote, and popped this up over Infinite Space. Both were clever RPGs that tried to do something new, but what TWEWY tried to do was just more fun. I did find it all bit too confusing, biting off more than it/I could chew, and I still don't care for the postgame; but tailoring the pin deck, slashing at enemies using the touch screen, and Sho Minamimoto win out over pissing off Andy and Jay. Stu_the_Great: Simply one of the best RPGs of all-time. Stands a good chance of being loved by gamers who aren't usually keen on standard RPGs, too. I say: This was my first place game. It'd be challenging for my first place on a favourite games of all time list too. For a while, this was the only thing I played. For about two months straight, I'd race home and turn on the DS and battle the Noise in search of a rare pin, or try to beat bosses on Ultimate difficulty. It was nigh-on an obsession. The World Ends With You definitely has its flaws - the story can be a tad angsty at times, the soundtrack won't be to everyone's tastes and nor will the art - but to me it's the best RPG I've ever played. Nothing comes close in terms of originality and freshness; it throws new concepts at you and each one is a delight to incorporate into your playstyle. The biggest crime Square-Enix ever committed was being absolute demons and teasing a sequel which ended up being an iOS port. I can't gush about this enough - if you've not played, track it down, you won't be disappointed.
You may have noticed a gulf in points between 7th and 6th and 5th... that's not the case for our top 5. Prepare to be surprised over the next few days folks! |

| I have to admit I'm surprised that Mario Kart made it. It's one of my favourite ones but it doesn't even scratch my top 15 DS games. Still no votes from me have shown up Come on guys, get your votes right! |

| My first placing! (But my tenth place.) I'm a tad surprised it ranked so low: I thought many of the people who'd given it first place before would do so again!
MKDS... A soulless, coin-infested, snake-happy series entry, lacking the single-console split-screen joy of the home console editions. Mission Mode was good, but not that good. It might have made my top twenty, but... my views are very different from the majority, it would seem. Unsurprisingly. |

| Yay! Mariokart! I'm getting quite excited for this top 5. You'd better not be overhyping this, jay . Can't say much about TWEWY being there what with me having still not bothered to buy it (shame on me, I know) this has definitely urged me to buy and maybe even play it at some point. |

| I don't mind Mario Kart DS, but I felt it was miles behind the best that the PSP had at the time. The main disappointment I had with it probably stemmed from how good Ridge Racers and Burnout Legends were. I'd maybe have enjoyed it more at the time if I knew about how to go online too. Still, I don't think that even at it's best it would have got in my top ten.

| Mario Kart was an original consideration for me, but it got nudged out by other games I played just as much but regard more fondly these days. Not a bad showing in the list for TWEWY there, I guess. |

It surprised me to say the least. Based on the previous weekly votes, it's not how I thought the top 5 would look. |

Just... saved in multiple files, so you don't get stuck. |

| Mario Kart DS?! That didn't even cross my mind, its good but top ten good? I should try going back to TWEWY I enjoyed it which is why it made my list but I got stuck on a boss many moons ago & I didn't feel like grinding. |

| Didn't vote for either Mario Kart DS or TWEWY (the former because I didn't enjoy it all that much; should have got more multiplayer in) (the latter because, although it was beautiful and clever and told a swell story, I was all fingers and thumbs at the combat) but I'm happy to see them place. Jay is really revving us up for the Top 5, as well! He deserves a badge of some kind. |

| Nothing wrong with my tastes I just know what is good and bad If you wanna spend money on Infinite Space instead of flushing it down a toilet or burning it it's up to you I really do need to pick up TWEWY though... Maybe Christmas! |

| See I've got Balla telling me it's worth getting and you Andy saying I'd be better throwing my money down the drain. But I don't know how my and Balla's tastes compare but I know how mine and yours compare Andy like so.
You like modern Resident Evil's Andy which I think are garbage, you don't like proper resident evil's but I think there some of the best games ever made.
You like Fallout 3, I think it's dull and boring and the worse 10hrs of my gaming live.
And don't even get me started on the N64 and Journey.
So I'm leaning more towards Ballas point of view on Infinite Space. |

| I can't recommend TWEWY highly enough, I really can't. Anyone having trouble with the battles might want to crank the yellow on-the-fly difficulty slider down. You're not massively penalised for doing so, unless you're after some of the rarer Pins. I've still never played my copy of Infinite Space. |

| We're getting closer to the end. Fourth Place - - Spoiler:
Pokemon Black/White - 38 points (1st places - 1)You say: Balladeer: Samurai otter, I choose you! Crush N's furry white dragon with suspicious protrusion! That'll teach him for hitting on me atop the ferris wheel. Vidofnir: Gamefreak showed bravery introducing a new host of pokemon with no old faces throughout the story,a strong plot and great online capability brought this game to a new height for the series. Buskalily: The games that showed how much Diamond and Pearl were slacking. Hell, why couldn't Ruby and Sapphire have been like this? Look at Golden Sun! They didn't do anything new, of course, but was that what anyone asked for? The last hurrah for "2D" Pokemon before X and Y. I say: The second Pokemon game of our top 10! This reinvigorated a passion for Pokemon I lost because of Gen IV. A brilliant finale, strong plot (for Pokemon, at least) and great new critters. A good entry point for newcomers to the series as well, I reckon. Third Place - - Spoiler:
Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver - 44 points (1st places - 2)You say: Balladeer: There's part of me that feels disgusted to see a port taking my number one slot, over new IPs such as Ghost Trick, Meteos and even that one RPG Jay keeps blabbering on about, the name of which momentarily escapes me. But the amount of time that I spent on the "throwaway minigames collection" that is the Pokéthlon alone shows that this is no mere port. And it's no mere port of two of the best RPGs out there, with elements from Crystal thrown in too. In short: HGSS used Attract! Balladeer fell in love! (Whitney's Miltank used Stomp!) (Balladeer used Curse!) (Jay: GIFs added by yours truly) nintenDUCK: So we're back to training monsters, last one on my list, I promise (bwahaha). So yeah I may have overlooked this in the RPG vote but don't get me wrong, I think this game is wonderful, too. So I thought I'd throw it at this list and see where it stuck and I'm quite pleased with where it has landed. This is a gem of a game and has many of the charms of its GameBoy predecessor, Johto/Kanto are both excellent regions as well (though not as good as Sinnoh). Waking pokemon both in-game and via the pokewalker is a great idea too and I struggle to think why they didn't implement it in Gen 5. Not much more to say about this game that it can't say for itself to be honest. Just go play it. Phillips: The best Pokemon games ever. ‘Collecting ‘em all’ is still the business, and with the series’ biggest world map, online play and the omission of bin bag/ice cream Pokemon, they’re the definitive two as well. I say: This was the first big surprise for me - I fully expected this to walk the vote. In fact, until the last few days of voting this was snugly sat in first place. To be honest, I'm quite glad it was dethroned for reasons mentioned by Balla. As much as this is a stellar game, and I agree with Phillips in that they're the definitive two, I think having what is essentially a port as our favourite DS game would be a little disheartening. Still, a well deserved podium placing for HG/SS.
Tomorrow, it's the worst of DS! If you haven't already, please send in a few of your least favourite DS games. You've got till 6pm tomorrow to do that if you want! |

| Now, this is a curious one. Big games unmentioned as of yet:
Hotel Dusk Ghost Trick NSMB Touched! Phantom Hourglass ???
If I were forced to guess, it'd be PH and NSMB taking the top votes. I really hope they don't, since I didn't care much for either, but that's my guess. Anyway, two very good Pokémon games that deserved to place highly.
Bring on the hatred! |
