I'm reckoning those two will be the top 2 as well. I'd like to see the DS win - it's a cracker of a console. |

| What about the PSone? It's unthinkable that we'd have a top ten without it. Unthinkable!
EDIT: I don't think the Game Boy Advance has cropped up yet, has it? Ditto the Dreamcast. |

| I'd love to see the PS1 in there... based on the other Sony consoles' placing, I can't see it happening. |

| There's no way the GBA deserves to place over the Wii, GC etc. I agree that it'll be the N64 and then the DS, probably in that order. |

| I agree with the GBA not really deserving a place. I look back and I just don't remember very many great games for it. There's quite a few that are quite good but not amazing. As for the PS1 I personally can't see it placing either. I do find it less dated than the 64, but it's still pretty rough. Roll on tonight I suppose! |

| Most of the next GBA games were SNES games, so it doesn't deserve to place higher than that. As for N64 and DS, I'd say they're both worthy winners. |

| Ladies and Gentleman people of all ages, masofdas would gladly bring to you the two greatest consoles of all time and if your not down with that you can suck it. - Number 2:
2nd DS 86points, 2 1st places (13 votes)What you say:TCK: A true visionary. I would never have thought this would wind up being better than the PSP back when I was bringing Polarium into school and my mates were bringing Pro Evo 5. But it did. Jay: Solved the screen issues from the GBA with a back-light, added a touchscreen for some brilliant functionality, wasn't region locked and the sleep flip mode made gaming on the go easy. Add one of the best games libraries a console has ever seen with a number of titles that would make my top 5, let alone my top 10 and what you have is the best handheld ever. Enough said. Andy: This is the best handheld for now. Maybe the 3DS will beat it eventually but right now the DSi is the most comfortable handheld and the library is simply amazing. There's a wonderful selection of RPGs, Puzzle games, Platformers and Visual Novels to highlight its strongest genres and you are never short of anything to play with a DS. DSiware didn't quite take off as well as we may have liked but there are still quite a few nice games around for it. Balla: If you like JRPGs, or puzzles, or just want Nintendo games mixed with new and creative franchises, then this is the console for you. I like all three. Old hands like Mario mixed with new faces like Sissel and the Geolyte aliens in the first handheld since the Game Boy that really dared to be different, and could still run early N64 efforts in its sleep. Buska: The first console I ever saved up for and bought with my own money. The first machine I owned on Day One. The first machine I followed from announcement all the way to launch, getting excited and counting my money and making little charts and graphs to check I would have enough. Two great Pokémon generations, great Advance Wars action, 3D games in my hand . . . a phenomenal experience with a very special place in my heart. Stu: Hands-down my favorite console of all time. The Nintendo DS had it all, didn't it? So many new ways to play, and the explosion of software (both bad and good) that followed it, not to mention all the amazing new franchises, is testament to this. It makes me sad to walk into GAME these days to see it reduced to a home for kiddy games. That it still continues to sell over two whole years after the release of 3DS is proof of one amazing console. So, so many gaming memories; long live the DS! Zero: The console of my golden era of handheld gaming. I never got on that well with the handheld experience until the DS's magic games, like Phoenix Wright, Professor Layton and its lovely stream of RPG's. What I say: I can’t say much, I imported one with SM64DS from the states and loved playing it but the system never really seem to click with the me as you know from the DS top 10 vote, my top 10 it wasn’t the best this system had to offer but hey it had pokemon which is always good.
- Number 1:
GNamers Greatest Games System of All-Time With 4 1st places and 12 votes a total of 91 points the Nintendo 64What you say: Zero: At the time, I frowned my way through most N64 games. Looking back, that was harsh. Buska: A magical, otherworldly machine to me. Like I said, I had a PlayStation. But I had a Game Boy and I loved Pokémon, so I kept up to date on the Nintendo scene, and I'd see this and that and think "God, I wish I could get that on PlayStation." Then I'd get to play Ocarina of Time at this friend's house, and spend night after night on Pokémon Stadium at that friend's house, or play Lylat Wars at summer camp or, inexplicably, in the room when holidaying in Wales. Of course, I've now managed to go back and play most of these classics through the likes of Virtual Console, but to me they're still on a pedestal. Balla: Most of its games have aged atrociously, but I can't put this any lower than where it is in my list for one main reason: Super Mario 64. Not only is it still my favorite game of all time, but it opened up a whole new world of possibilities (that largely seems to have shut down again in this "2D 3D platformers" age). Plus the controller was great, apart from the superfluous left prong and the raft of dross third-party controllers that always had something wrong. Jim: The system that made "proper" games what they are today. Revolutionized Mario, Zelda, and FPSes. TCK: Legends stand alone. Unprecedented brilliance; nigh on perfect. What I say: Pretty much the same as most of you, it did have a great controller with its analogue stick which was brilliant for SM64 which revolutionized 3D platformers and set the bench mark (my fav Mario game wouldn’t you know) for all 3D platformers to follow then there’s the Ocarina of Time arguably the greatest game of time, Goldeneye showed FPS can be done on console. And the multiplayer as it was the 1st console to have 4 controller slots it was great to get some mates around and play Mario Kart, Goldeneye even Mario Party was fun back then.

| U mad, Andy? To be honest, even though I placed it fourth, I really don't think it deserves to be at number one. The gulf between it and my numbers 1-3 was massive, due to how poorly most of its library has aged. As far as enjoyment at the time in concerned, though... Well I was seven at the time, so it was off the charts! |

| This thread has been a cracking read so far, folks. It's great to see how much love everyone has for their consoles of choice. I genuinely didn't even think that DS would finish second, though! Blinded by love for the console that I am, I certainly didn't believe the N64 would place above the DS, let alone first. Also: it's fantastic to see GameCube and 3DS do so well. Particularly 3DS, which I admit I massively regretted owning for the first six months of the console's life. It's had a phenomenal second year in the marketplace. 3DS could finish in my all-time top three if it carries on the way it's going. And I cannot believe I forgot to vote for the Wii! It would've probably replaced either the NES or SNES on my list. |

| That can possibly be attributed to the youth of the forum. I'm serious though: the N64 was my first home console. If I'd had a SNES, it would probably have had... at least three extra points. |
