I left it out. I considered it briefly but ultimately couldn't justify it. It's a work-in-progress at best, though I genuinely believe that with just a few more games of the same caliber of the likes of Lego City Undercover and Pikmin 3 it'll already have surpassed the overall quality of stuff such as the first XBox and the Dreamcast.

What you say:
The Cappuccino Kid: The home of the 2D platformer, as far as I’m concerned. Don’t get me wrong - stuff like Streets of Rage 2 and Gunstar Heroes is brilliant, but I could justify the Mega Drive’s place on my list from its platformers alone.

JayMoyles: A lack of games I really wanted to play when my Dad owned it, beyond the Streets of Rage trilogy and the now-dated Golden Axe, but a solid console with a great sound chip, even if it was trumped in almost every way by the SNES.

Stu_the_great:  The console that got me into gaming. The Mega Drive was a seriously cool piece of kit to an impressionable child, and SEGA went all the way marketing it as such. That Sonic the Hedgehog still survives - and indeed makes a comeback - after several turbulent years to how we know him today is testament to the impact the crowning Mega Drive game had on gamers. So many classic games and deserved success for SEGA. If only they'd moved on gracefully instead of messing about extending its life with the 32X and Mega CD, but that's another story.

ZeroJones: Not a SEGA person - well, not at the time, anyway! The majority of my MD experience is through the Virtual Console, a fine machine.

What I say: Much like Stu the Mega Drive got me into gaming with its Blast Processing to bring you such classics as sonic 2, streets of rage 2, golden axe 2, the decent Aladdin and Mortal Kombat with gore and so forth. Genesis does what Nintendon’t.

Andyman949: Many of my favourite PS3 games are multiplats and this is the other platform I could play them on so how could it not get a mention. It has a handful of good exclusives but doesn't match up to the PS3. The best part of the 360 to me would be the Arcade titles. They have a slightly better range than PSN and I prefer the way it displays the library. Unfortunately paying for access to online games and the lack of exclusives in its later years leaves it pretty far behind its contemporaries.

JayMoyles: controller is something I really lend weight to when looking at the merits of a console, and the 360 has the best controller in gaming. Tight design, good layout, solid triggers and PC compatibility - what more could you want? The games were solid too - even if the exclusives were few and far between.

The Cappuccino Kid: While I don’t feel most of the first-party exclusives hold up to scrutiny when compared to those on PlayStation and Nintendo, it’s the undoubted lead platform for greatest games of the third-parties, the online infrastructure can’t be faulted and the controller is an ergonomic classic. I’ve surprised myself by putting this on my list, but it’s well deserved.

Jimbob: The first non-Nintendo console (actual console) that I've owned - basically gave me access to all the best non-Nintendo games. A mate gave it to me as a birthday present as he was getting a new one. I'm eternally grateful. And an online system that works.
What I say: So Microsoft’s second console which continued the good work laid out by the original Xbox with its s-type controller made even better for what is arguably the best controller ever and its online infrastructure. Best place to play 3rd party games due to online but good exclusive’s although they are few and far between which lets it down unless you like Halo.
