I'm quite shocked that given how many people are playing this, I've only had one StreetPass hit so far and that was from my Brother's fiancee.

I've only had 2 hits from the same random guy, did catch a new dragonfly today which was good.

Also starting to think Eterna is being overrun with trees so I'm going to make like a lumberjack because I'm ok.

I am ever so reluctant to chop down trees in case I take out a non-native fruit tree by accident, which is totally something I'd do. This despite knowing that some bugs can only be caught on tree stumps! Crazed.

I have three stumps. They'll remain until next month, when I can get the other stumpy bug; then be replaced by perfect peach trees.

That's my worry as well so much so I've kept one of each fruit in my cupboard just in case.
Got a second hit today on this as well and got some cool stuff out of their house

So, found an interesting YouTube video last night that explained how to make 400,000 bells in half an hour.

Can't find the link now but the summary is:

Change your town ordinance to "Rich Town", means you get 20% more bells.
Visit the island AFTER 7PM.
Chop all the trees in the centre of the island, leaving just the trees on the sand outside. (Makes bugs easier to catch.)
Walk round and round the island repeatedly and catch any rare beetles that appear.
If no bugs appear, return inside and then go outside again to make the beetles respawn.
Repeat until your box is full.
Take the items to Re-Tail.
Ker-ching!

Yep, that's the one. Note: I forgot the very important "AFTER 7PM" rule. Updated post with the info.

Yeah I usually head down to the island after work (so after 11pm) get a whole lot of bugs and sharks and I'm set for the next day

Figured that one out for myself   
Not restricting myself to the rare ones only I still managed about 300k from 2 visits earlier, paid off the full price of a bridge and most of my loan today alone.

I keep hearing about this late-night buggery (definitely not the word), but I haven't had much chance to cross animals of an evening yet.

I'll go down during the day to get those blasted medels

I have to say, the game having rare insects that are only catchable 2300-0800, especially month-locked ones (and insects don't obey the town ordinance, of course), is very antisocial. I spent yesterday evening, when I could have been sleeping or out with friends, hunting rare beetles.

In the hour, I managed to find my first golden scarab. The giant stag still eludes me.

I'm usually up until 1 or so getting bugs and if I do run into an animal I'll say hi and move on

One of my animals said it was time to have a break from playing today! The cheek of it all.

Today's firsts include diving, the terrifying tarantula and fleas on some of the residents.  

Today my T&T is being upgraded again which i didn't even know about. And Blathers finally wants his second floor which I'll take care of tomorrow since I just built them a camp site.

Diving has been pretty disappointing for me. It's not necessarily harder than fishing, but it's less rewarding financially and less transparent than bug-catching. Still, nice to have something new.

Tarantula's easy to catch though.  

Blathers wants a café now, but he'll have to wait. I've invested several thousands in a moai statue, so that's coming first!

At the moment Blathers wants the second floor which I'll do tomorrow along with another house expansion.

And I am not going to pay 86,000 Bells for a flower arch

Yes, Blathers wants his second floor in Lolberg, too. And that he will have!

Today Phineas came round - creepy, isn't he? - and gave me badges to reward my fish and bug collections. I'm thinking of winding back my time with the game now... let's see if I can escape its loveable grasp!

On an unrelated note, I really felt like pushing Joan into a pitfall today, annoyingly I booted up my game in time for her to be in my town, but I was too impatient to find a pitfall buried somewhere. Entered my house to get one, but she'd magically warped out of town afterwards since it was past 12pm.

I'll get her next Sunday.

I have not seen Joan for the last 2 weeks..

Turnips were on sale for just 91 bells in my town today. Cheapest I'd seen. I bought tons of them.
