| I've played Path of Radiance, Radiant Dawn, Shadow Dragon and Sacred Stones and I'd say it was my favourite. I really liked the marriage/children mechanic and I didn't notice any issues with the AI. Victory conditions would've been nice but I don't think it was essential to my enjoyment of the game. Working on the rest and Specul-o-tron now. Expect them up within the hour. Edit: No standout winner so I'll post what I have recieved and comments. The Specul-o-Tron Award for Most Wished for 3DS Game- Spoiler:
Meteos Universe - Less likely than ever with Mizuguchi having left Q Entertainment; yet hope burns eternal, like a Pyrosan's shimmering 30m body. All it'd have to do would be to pretty up the graphics, offer some new planets, and pack in online multiplayer, and I'd be sold beyond all redemption. Paper Mario and the Return to Basics - The original was good, Thousand-Year Door is one of my favourite games of all time, and it all went downhill from there. So let's have some partners (no Kirsty), levelling up, turn-based battles, no bloody stickers, and no restriction to use Mushroom Kingdom characters only. As long as those steps were followed, Nintendo could hand it to Artoon and it'd still be better than the last two Paper Mario games. Ghost Trick 2 - Who were the blue people? Where did they come from? What were they after? Inquiring minds demand to know! And also to have another slickly impressive puzzler. Phoenix Wright vs. Ghost Trick would be an acceptable substitute. Mario & Luigi: No 2D Sections This Time - No spin jump either. Or hammering into the ground. The franchise probably needs a break actually, before coming back on the next Nintendo handheld with a surfeit of new ideas, but I'm mentioning it anyway because Dream Team Bros. betrayed my trust so. Super Mario 128 - If the DS can handle SM64, the 3DS and its analogue pad can handle a sequel. Free-roaming platforming, collecting the stars in any order you like, and no bloody time limits thank you very much.
Dark Souls 3DS
Imagine it, you get the white soapstone, the game prompts you to create a 'signature' using the touch screen. As you go about your life, streetpass sends the messages and signatures of other players to your system and vice versa. To summon other players phantoms you have to write their signature upon the ground, yet this has a secondary effect of employing whatever side effect the original author of signature had in mind (e.g. spawns a red phantom to kill you). This is just off the top of my head, Fromsoft could work wonders with the 3DS.
Majora’s Mask 3D, make it happen Nintendo
Metroid Dread (2D Metroid) Kid Icarus 2 Star Fox 3DS F-Zero 3DS Wario Ware 3DS
Fantasy Life - I always liked the look of this level 5 game as it was animal crossing meets an RPG but sadly I don't think we will ever see it over here.
New Metroid - just not in the style of Other M... is that OK, Nintendo? New Star Fox, New Wario Land
Advance Wars 3DS. I'm getting excited just thinking about it. Oh my god this would be amazeballs. Don't fiddle with the gameplay, just give us loads of scenarios and great 3D animations in battle.
Starship Command 3DS - My original "FUNNY ANSWER LOL" was Repton 3DS. But actually I'm championing another old BBC Micro game, as it actually stands the test of time, and could be made into a fun little multiplayer game. It's much better and surprisingly more involved than it looks at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WRBrWZlofhg
Hogs of War 2.
Chibi Robo
Paper Mario! A proper 3DS one this time, thank you very much! None of that Sticker Star shit.
Zero Escape 3 (aka the sequel to 999 and Virtue's Last Reward.) VLR left on a cliffhanger and I need to see how the insane tale ends. Something that uses the 3D effect to great, er, effect. Like F Zero. That would be amazing in 3D glory, I still play Ridge Racer 3D every now and again because of how much of a difference the 3D effect makes. | Good show that man! Glad to see KIU only getting one badvote - given the complaints about its controls, I thought it'd get more. No prizes for guessing who gave MK7 three badvotes.

| Eh, sorry about the Dark Souls most wished vote. In my defence I did write that before I knew it was all anyone ever talks about!
Now I think about it, maybe a Paper Luigi game would be more realistic.
Not to be a stick in the mud but I really must expand on how awful the Awakening AI is. Did they ever employ any other strategy than bumrush you with all units? Didn't you notice that enemy units spawn and can move on the same turn leading to unexpected deaths you could do nothing about unless you are some sort of seer?
Did you notice that the pairing system effectively removes all strategy, with there being no benefit whatsoever to leaving units solo? While fighting with pairs makes your units OP.
Help me understand. |

| I find it quite surprising that mighty switch force isn't in that worst of list, I was going to vote in that category but I didn't have many I could mention & I wanted to focus on the positives of the system. |

| Blimey, an apology? Honestly, Vido, you're going to have to try and work harder on your reintegration here. Everyone knows that the proper response to mentioning DS is to do the same for about five more posts to rub it in my face. That said, there's nothing wrong with actually wanting DS on the 3DS, but it's about as realistic as wanting Gears of War (more like Gears of Snore, amirite) on the Wii U. Then again, I mentioned Meteos 2, so I'm hardly one to talk. GIVE ME MORE GODDAMNIT. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEEEEEEEEEASE. |

That's sort of the approach I took as well. I considered Mighty Switch Force for the worst game on 3DS, but - despite not finding it nearly as clever or addictive as the critics seemed to - I didn't feel that it was all that awful a game. I saved my votes for the two 3DS games I genuinely believe are indefensibly rubbish, which are 3D Game Collection and, true to form, Ghost Recon Shadow Wars. |

| I can't say I've noticed being bumrushed or the spawn and take a turn truth be told but I disagree about the pair system. I've always partnered up my units for the support benefit and the only real difference sharing a space made was that you were less likely to lose your noobs. |

| The second game spoiled the formula by (a) adding Disney characters and (b) allowing horizontal movement as well as vertical. The home console version (a) lacked a touch screen and (b) was on the wrong damn console.
I don't care if it's actually Meteos 4 or whatever, but a 3DS non-Disney version of the game with vertical movement only is what I crave. Or a Wii U version. Heck, if they ported Meteos Wars to the Wii U that would benefit immensely from the touchscreen alone! Perhaps it could have an "anti-scrubbing mechanic" to prevent Drunka from cheating his way to victory too. |

a) breathed new life into the Meteos template, and did so in a very charming way that could be enjoyed by adults and children alike. b) didn't really change all that much, except make things a more accessible - arguably A Good Thing when considering the original's learning curve. I feel Meteos was too reliant on speed and reflexes for there ever to be too much strategy, and having horizontal movement didn't really alter or "spoil the formula" much whatsoever. |

| To be fair, I have never played Disney Meteos, so I'm going off NGamer's report for (b). I can say that I mastered the original's learning curve and loved its challenging playstyle (unless you scrub), and it was immensely satisfying when I got it right. (And my reflexes are snail-like, so if I can do it, anyone can.) And I loved the spacey aesthetic, with the charming little aliens bouncing around and the galactic battlefields and the peculiar ever-changing soundtrack and things: I can say for certain, despite never having played DM, that in my eyes (a) was sucking life out rather than breathing it in.
I probably should try and pick a copy up on the cheap, so that I can back up what I'm saying about the gameplay (or refute it). But regardless of how I feel about the gameplay, I will eat my Mario baseball cap if I end up preferring the Disney style to the original's.
(In the interests of full disclosure, I haven't played Meteos Wars either, so maybe it works perfectly well without the touchscreen. But I can't imagine it somehow.) |

| - 3D Game Collection:
"On the positive side, it least it was only two quid. On the negative: everything else. Just not very good, is all."
- Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars:
"As bollocks now as it was back on launch." "An amazing tactical game. Sadly overlooked by many. I love it."
- Star Fox 64 3D:
"A wonderful remake. Bringing a classic game to a new generation in style." "Even today, each planet has so much personality, and the branching paths between each area are still a genius way to link together an adventure."
- Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure:
"I had a silly amount of fun with this game. More people should look past the franchise and give it a spin."
- Steel Diver: Sub Wars:
"A brilliant contemplative FPS that is really fun to play. You communicate in morse code too!"
- Tokyo Crash Mobs:
"An insane take on Actionloop featuring a crowd of women instead of balls. This is one of those insane games that I never thought would be localised."
- Harmoknight:
"An amazing rhythm game from the makers of Pokemon? Yes please."
- Majora's Mask 3D:
"With the ‘3D’ effect of 3DS brushed to the sidelines (at least it saves every new game from having 3D tacked at the end of its name, I guess) I want at least one last opportunity for it to shine, and a remake as good as Ocarina got to this gem of an adventure would be the perfect fit." "make it happen Nintendo"
- Etrian Odyssey IV:
"It was either this or Hyrule (Ocarina, but that’s technically N64) or Bravely Default, but the latter would have really only scored it for presentation, given how the towns were mainly backdrops for events with the soundtrack putting in most of their personality. But Etrian Odyssey IV’s game world was, and still is, a joy to explore. Heading out into the great sky to find new labyrinths and caves, whilst avoiding huge, deadly beasties always provides a great feeling of big adventure, but entering the labyrinths and caves themselves, each with their own unique twist or setting, provides much the same feeling on a smaller scale. Charting your own map on the bottom screen adds personality to each bit location as you observe your surroundings to mark down everything correctly. Who’d have thought a quasi-old school dungeon crawler would win it?"
- Super Mario 3D Land:
kingdom place kingdom: the 3D effect brought every block, bouncy mushroom and enemy to life. Still the best world in the, er, world for precise 3D platform, where you can confidently land on the right platforms.
- Resident Evil Revelations:
"Not only did it look amazing, but it packed in lots of atmosphere at every turn. And scares. The captain’s quarters, brr… Also set the stage for a pretty cool bait-and-switch later on…"
- Bravely Default:
"Despite the game not even letting you walk into most its buildings and the world comprising of a mere four towns across a gigantuan map, its game world has a surprising amount of personality, and it’s generally conveyed through event scenes, character dialogue and the soundtrack." "It looked fabulous, its painted backgrounds brought to live from 2D (and made much easier to navigate), it had well thought out online and local wireless functionality, and all round felt very accommodating to portable play. Great to see a third party come up with this." "Let's talk about the characters.
...
Actually, let's not. Let's talk about the battle system, the jobs, the myriad of little additions that make the game less arduous than others of the genre (fast-forwarding battles? Turning off random encounters? That's crazy talk!), Streetpass, the music, the towns, Norende. Anything but the characters. I still quite like Edea though." "Airy from Bravely Default - If you've only just started BD, you're probably wondering why the heck I've put the most annoying character in Christendom into my votes. Let's just say that she redeems herself later on, in a manner of speaking..."
- Streetpass:
"StreetPass Battle. Great, this. StreetPass itself aside, reading the number of Miis in a passerby’s plaza and army was genius." "StreetPass Mansion - the best of the new StreetPass games, Mansion has more depth than some boxed titles." "never been that bothered about it but now with event’s happening & the other games added. I now take my 3DS with me almost everywhere. " "Streetpass Garden This game made me realise how to keep a game in a similar essence to Animal Crossing interesting. Make it streetpass. It isn't an arduous task to start after you leave it for a month and all you really have to do is carry your DS around and grow plants. The level of customization is great with 82 species of plant and you can grow each in a different style/colour. I couldn't give this game higher praise." "Streetpass Mansion A solid lite RPG that takes full advantage of streetpass. Not very difficult but plenty of kleptomania points!" "Streetpass Garden Yes, you are reading right. My favourite game on the 3DS is Streetpass Garden. Im not even a flower kind of guy but this game has me coming back for more way after I have stopped playing Animal Crossing, I play this more frequently than Zelda, Mario Kart and even X/Y. Its a game that sets its pace according to how many people walk around to activate streetpass, you don't need to be a creative genius, tactical mastermind, or spend hundreds of hours to appreciate the quality of this game, simply pick a seed, get people to water it (which changes the seeds gained depending on what they are growing) and watch your collection grow. Will entertain me until this system has run its course and what other game could say that? " "Streetpass Mansion Does not disappoint, a lengthy rpg that plays on a 'mystery dungeon' style. Is lite, it isn't very flamboyant yet it does reward strategic play and also people who all have the same favourite colour -_-." "Streetpass (Streetpass Garden)
Yes, it may be detrimental to not even consider the 3D effects of the system, frankly I dont care about 3D. Streetpass, in my opinion is a function that games should endow with more time in development. I only refer to Streetpass Garden as it is the best of the streetpass games. Retail games see little to no use of this feature and it is my belief that it has unfulfilled potential. Think, maybe you bury treasure in Zelda and draw a map which is transferred to other players. Maybe in Animal crossing you can leave messages in a bottle with gifts to shores of new towns. I don't really know, it could definitely be taken more seriously." " Especially Puzzle and Quest. For exactly zero of your Great British pounds, you got two fun applications with annoyingly catchy music, that managed to make Streetpass feel like a crucial part of the 3DS experience in a way the AR games couldn't match."
- Ridge Racer 3D:
"Who’d have thought the 3D effect would make the old series feel so fresh again? Playing Ridge Racer in 2D is so boring now."
- Animal Crossing:
Tom, the cat in my Animal Crossing village. He is an incredibly gruff cat who insults me a lot but always greets me with "hey baby!" and loves the way I make him coffee. Reading that back I sound like a trapped wife, but I'm the mayor of the town and he knows it. "I've just realised I put the wrong name for New Leaf.
I haven't even played Wild World."
- Donkey Kong '94:
"Suddenly the Mario vs Donkey Kong games make sense. The old-school technique of cramming as much game into a single screen at a time, and luckily Nintendo know how to do it. The last boss is a cheaty s**t face though." "loved it as a lad, love it as an adult. A surprisingly complete game."
- Pokedex 3D:
"And then I realised I didn't have that many eShop games; most of mine are DSiWare from the last generation."
- Korg M01D:
"Alright music program. Lots of scope for creation, but tools are a bit primitive."
- Castlevania Lords of Shadow: Mirror of Fate:
"Nice 2D exploration genre, like other Castlevanias, or maybe Metroid. Someone needs to think of a name for this genre. Compelling exploration, and neat bosses that made it feel like your fault when you fail (albeit I had NO F***ING CLUE what the story was about after a while)" ""Yeah Mum, it's quite a cool little action adventure, it's a bit old-school, a bit puzzley; you'd probably like it" *naked demon woman appears, starts making out with other female character* - uh-oh"
- Azure Striker Gunvolt :
"or the other Mega Man that's not Mega Man or the Mega Man that the guy who made Mega Man is making who looks like Mega Man but isn't Mega Man."
- Luigi's Mansion 2:
"Polterpup - Luigi's Mansion 2DM - D'aaaaaaaaaaaaaw! (etc.)" "Arf arf! Arf arf arf! Arf? Awooooo... And cue the most adorable ending on 3DS."
- A Link Between Worlds:
"Irene - Zelda ALBW - So many fun lines of dialogue for what's essentially the "fast travel" option. Oh, PS - AAA games? Zelda did it first in Link To The Past ." "Ravio - Zelda ALBW - I can't quite believe that <spoiler redacted> but he's a lot of fun."
- Kid Icarus Uprising:
"I know it's a good game but goddamit on a 1st-generation 3DS my hand went numb. Why Nintendo? Why didn't you just put a second circle pad on by default?!" "Hades from Kid Icarus Uprising - "Pit!" "Hades! "Pit!" "Hades!" "Pit..." "Hades..." Hades: doing the camp villain shtick better than Ghirahim and Yuga since 2012."
- Metal Gear Solid 3:
"Yaknow what? I think Metal Gear is boring yappy crap. There. I said it." "An incredible game wherever you play it, and the jungle looks amazing in 3D. It's a shame Kojima hasn't brought more Tactical Espionage Action to Nintendo consoles, but none of you fuckers buy them so there we go. If you're only going to play one, this is the one. “She sacrificed her life and her honour for her native land.” What? No, there's something in my eye. Shut up. NOTE: Don't play without the circle pad pro."
- Myst:
"Hey, let's take a slow-paced puzzle game, examine it's redeeming feature (big impressive-looking scenery) and squidge it down on to a tiny screen. Derp. Derp. Derp."
- Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate:
"Obviously the 3DS version of this game isn't up to much without the Wii U game and the better controls and the online component, but the monsters look incredible and being able to take care of farming and equipment and whatnot on the go before doing a hunt when I get home is exquisite." "A game where an hour feels like minutes, a perfection of the balance between difficulty + kleptomania. Lack of plausible online mode on 3DS restrains this title."
- Super Mario Land 2: Six Golden Coins:
"I love this game. It blew my little mind as a kid going from the serviceable but unimpressive first game to this incredible, solid, chunky world."
- Liberation Maiden:
"Just top shooty mecha action. Not big and not clever but wonderful stuff"
- 2 Fast 4 Gnomes:
"I'm sure I'm the only one voting for this, but as far as fun little throwaway autorunners go, this does the trick for me."
- Attack of the Friday Monsters:
"Gameplay? What's that? The music, the atmosphere, the little world... nice, cheap, and doesn't overstay it's welcome." " have never felt so patronised by a game in my life."
- Ace Attorney 6:
"Takumi back in the director's seat. Sold."
- Farming Simulator 3D 2013:
"Just mind-numbingly, brokenly dull. Who thought it was a good idea to throw this mess into shops as a boxed fucking videogame? Even the small ammount of fun to be had forcing cars of the road is ruined by the fact they don't seem to give a shit."
- Theatrhythm Final Fantasy:
"the pull of the Dark Notes keeps me coming back. The only pure rhythm game that I've ever enjoyed." " the music alone is worth the price tag."
- Mario Vs. Donkey Kong :
"another that I'd never played before, MvDK builds on '94 and adds Lemmings!"
- Super Little Acorns 3D Turbo:
"joyful game that despite its cute exterior is well hard."
- Crimson Shroud:
"once you get the hang of it, this dice rolling RPG is a complete blast of fun and creepy story." "what happens when story and gameplay are brought to the fore."
- Mario and Lugi: Dream Team Bros:
"about ten hours too long but still an ace game." "This sneaks into my bottom five on the "virtues" of its enormously tedious Dream World sections, its recycled uninteresting Bros. Moves, and its far-too-hard Giant Battles. It's true, I lost my save file with 30h on and had to try and restart, but I've played every other game in the series at least three times. It's a shame, because the game felt more open than BIS or PiT, but was ultimately more boring than either."
- Nintendo Pocket Football Club:
"not long now! Looks cute and simplistic but hopefully has statistics at its core."
- Inazuma 11 GO!:
"how will the first Inazuma game built from the ground up for the 3DS play?"
- Puyo Puyo Tetris:
"that title is designed to lure me in, isn't it?"
- Angry Birds Trilogy:
"expensive and lacking character."
- Super Street Fighter 4 3D Edition:
"the moment I discovered that fighters couldn't have epic scale on handhelds."
- Mutant Mudds:
"yes to the jump into the background mechanic, no to it not doing anything purposeful (and no to everything else)."
- Fire Emblem Awakening:
"Outrealm, Fire Emblem Awakening. Yes this is the world for the DLC but this showed how DLC should be done in their own separate world which can bring great awards and some fun missions like going to the beach." "Fire Emblem: Awakening This may surprise a few of you RPG fans, after taking off my hype-tinted glasses, playing some old fire emblem greats (Path of Radiance, Sacred Stones) I can no longer play this game. The plot is a mess, supports are overused and unlimited. Marriage and kids while originally seeming like a cool concept just doesn't wash clean. In short this game falls to the ever increasing tide of 'customization'. Think of Ike, how would that incredibly story driven game have been if he could re-class as an archer, it would just not work in context with the plot and the eventual dual with the BK. You open up a finely honed class system that rewards strategy over individual customization and you open up the game, and thus the plot to being mundane and obscure. Seriously, this is encroaching upon Last Story territory in my mind. I hate this game. It has awoken my ire."
- Tales of the Abyss:
"One of the better Tales games, decent battle system, good/great storyline although a bit slow paced. Im all for slow paced though." "Great Story and a decent battle system, nothing that truly stands out on the 3ds as it is a remake, nevertheless it makes my top 10 as it doesn't really disappoint in any key areas." "Auldrant (Tales of the Abyss)
While not exactly sprawling with life, those who have played the game know that the actual land of Auldrant plays a massive role in the story. With politics, strife, distaster and ambition all tied directly to the effects on the land and the motivations of the heroes and villains alike. " "Jade Curtiss from Tales of the Abyss - With his insufferable smugness and perpetually eyebrow-raised air, Mr. Curtiss is almost impossible to truly like, but he's funny. Like Beemoh." "Perhaps the reason that I have so much ire for this game is that I only came to my senses after about 20 hours' play. "I am being a glorified errand boy, flying over a bland tedious world for the sake of characters I don't care about," I thought, and never played it again."
- Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones:
"A great game in the series, very tough on hard mode. Try doing the game without Ross, Amelia and Ewan. Do it. I will save my rant as to why this is better than the 3DS Fire Emblem later."
- Mario Picross:
"The only VC game in my votes I've actually played on the 3DS. Despite its bleepy-bloopy GB-era feel, it still has much more soul in it than the Picross-e series."
- Wario Land 4:
"The heck is this? The heck are those? The heck is with the bosses, the shopkeeper, the items, the unlockable CDs, the "Wario" .gifs accompanying them, the hugely-creepy final boss, and the ending? I certainly didn't forget it in a hurry."
- Mario Kart Super Circuit:
"Hasn't aged well at all, but Sky Garden still has a great tune. SO DOES SUNSET WILDS JAYSEPH."
- Hana Samurai:
" A very odd one. Nippon-esque Punch-Out with swords. Got a bit ridiculous at the end, with a very tricky boss at the end of a long fortress with no checkpoints: otherwise it would have ranked higher. Still quite sugoi."
There you go, I tried to keep it all fresh so apologies if I missed any that would've been. Thanks for taking part everyone and thanks for your patience with my terrible time keeping abilities. It has been a pleasure to run and I hope you've all had as much fun voting and reading as I have had running it! |

| LIES. That's a heck of a lot of comments! You did miss out a few of mine, but I can understand why when there are so many. Some crackers in there too (e.g. Myst). Thanks for another great voting thread, Andyman - the categories were the best thing to happen to voting threads since MANLY GAMES. |

| I didn't know that anyone using this forum has Hana Samurai or Tokyo Crash Mobs - I'd be interested in finding out more about those two.
Thanks again andyman - nicely done! |

| Hana Samurai would be me. Enemies line up to hit you repeatedly, you have a couple of dodge moves to use on them, and then you slash 'em up until they turn into money. That's most of the game, and it's satisfying enough, although there's not an awful lot of variety in the foes.
Then you reach a boss stage, of which there are three. They're horrible: they pit you against a number of groups of foes, then a boss who is much harder to dodge, and if you die (and the boss will kill you first time around, as you learn its attacks), you have to go all the way back to the beginning of the stage. That's why I never finished it. If you thought Skowl out of DKCTF was bad, it is as nothing compared to these.
It's a rather charming game, dressed up in Mystical Ninja-esque aesthetics to hide its blockyness, and it's this that I liked the most about it. It's also rather short, clocking in at probably under three hours if you don't count retries of the bloody boss stages. Couple of cute minigames too, to pad it out. |

| Cheers for that, Balladeer. It's one of many eShop games from back in it's infancy that I should go visit. It sounds pretty decent value for the six-or-so quid it costs. |

Damnit, you brought it up before I could! But yeah, I'm sure it would be pretty easy for the game to tell the difference. Might have to go back and finish that castlevania then. Because, y'know, the combat is supposed to be good. |

Fantasy Life, I think it's a real shame it didn't come out over here & would certainly be one that may fill up that RPG gap on 3ds that most of you want so much. |
