Generic General Pokemon Discussion

And the Gintendo article of the year so-far goes to Drunka.

Well written piece, Drunka, albeit you'll be utterly unsurprised to learn that I disagree. RBY had the mystery at the time - now we, and anybody coming to play them, knows them like the back of their hand. And while certain aspects do speed the game up, they're held back by things like the lack of shortcut buttons, or having to dive into menus to find the monster with CUT.

I definitely see, and agree, with why they would have been the best Pokémon games given their release era though.

See, for me, those occasions are not so common as to bother me, whereas the excessive introductions and battle animations in some later games are.

Different priorities, I guess, or wonky memories from one of us (probably me). But then, I like the flashy battle animations. I don't like the menu-searching.

Also, no running shoes! Imagining Pokémon without running shoes is like... well, imagining Pokémon without a quick-cycle button.

I have never minded how long it takes to get the Bicycle out, because the cycling music is always so joyful - just like actual cycling.

In other news, I hope we've all got our Mew codes from GAME. And whoever's dispensing them in Australia.
