Genuinely? Snot bubbles on the train? That's not polite, Japan! It's really not!

What? Now I'm very confused. Labels are useful right up until things stop fitting neatly into categories...

Top Five Christmas Pokémon
5. Delibird
Delibird is the Christmassiest of Pokémons, surely? Only if you think Christmas is meant to be a time of disappointment. Simply put, Delibird is rubbish. Everybody knows Delibird is rubbish. Its special move, Present, is especially rubbish. So yes, it's Christmas themed, but as far as the spirit of Christmas goes, Delibird shouldn't be anywhere near the top three.
4. Sawsbuck: Winter Coat
It'd be easy enough to go for Stantler, but... well, did you even remember that Stantler existed before I mentioned it right now? Sawsbuck at least has some interesting things going for it. It's Grass/Normal, for starters, which is odd. Then there's its beautiful seasonal coats. It looks right at home amongst a bunch of ice types.
3. Abomasnow
One of the standouts of an otherwise mediocre generation, Abomasnow is a hybrid of a Christmas tree and a yeti, and summons up a snowstorm when it enter the field. It couldn't be more Christmas if it tried. Unfortunately its ceiling isn't quite high enough to propel it to first place. Sorry, Abomasnow. You get the effort award.
2. Snorlax
While not perhaps as Christmassy as some in the list, Snorlax embodies how you feel after Christmas lunch. Absolute stuffed, couldn't possibly eat a thing, just want to sleep it off... Quality Street? Oh go on then. Snorlax is an excellent embodiment of the festive spirit.
1. Xurkitree
It's a dancing Christmas tree, what more do you want? Got the star on top of it and fairy lights. It's also a reminder of the dangers of Christmas lights, which can set your house on fire if left unobserved. Take note!
Any ones I've missed that you feel are particularly Christmassy?

I think Snover's a better shout than Abomasnow for that list - he just seems like a jollier chap, and we all know that Christmas is meant to be a time of cheer and goodwill.

I like Stantler, and I was annoyed not to see Beartic, but the excellent Snorlax entries earns you a pass.

Beartic's a good shout, with his Father Christmas-esque beard. Cubchoo could also fit in, to symbolise how everybody seems to get ill around this time.

Abomasnow's fatter though, and it feels like a proper Christmas tree as opposed to the one I have shoved in a tiny pot in a flat.

Why does that look like King Dedede in a red onesie with a white mask on?

They're both penguins, I suppose!
Delibird's sack is actually its tail. I'm sure you all know this, but I was reminded again the other day and my MIND was BLOWN once again.

Pokemon Press Conference
I tried to watch but the stream was a bitch and also it was a bit dry so I just followed along on twitter mostly.
New Pokemon Centres
The one in Shibuya looks cool and I might try to go to the opening. Will be good for content, innit?
Detective Pikachu on Switch
All pretty vague. I think this is like the 3DS game plus new chapters or something? I was gonna play it eventually so now I won't have to do so on 3DS.
Pokemon Home
The most exciting announcement, to me. Like Pokemon Bank but it folds in the Switch games and Pokemon Go. My goal of completing the Pokedex next year just became much more achievable . . .
Pokemon Sleep
Like a health app? Pull my finger, anyone?
Pokemon Masters
Pokemon waifus gacha game, basically. How much money will I spend to get Cynthia and Lorelei? Probably a lot.
I think that was it? There was some stuff about Pokemon Quest in China and a new Pokemon Go peripheral.
Is this the start of E3? I don't know any more.

I'm excited about Detective on Switch, I thought it was a sequel? And was Masters but not if it's gacha thing unlocking a roster of famous trainers.
I want to see how sleep works though.

I've seen more stuff on Master and yeah looks like Fire Emblem Heroes but with Pokemon Trainers instead.
Also Drunka on is this the start of E3, it might be with this conference having a lot of things in it, Death Stranding yesterday which did some sort of record on twitch, Call of Duty today and Pokemon Direct in a few days.
Plus rumours of The Last of Us Part 2 getting a trailer or a direct style thing very soon.

Spoilers if you haven't seen the original. I can't get past James' grin at the beginning. No real interest in going to see it, but the CGI looks brilliant (if not Detective Pikachu level).

I'm with Drunka on this - I honestly thought the CGI in that looked ugly and devoid of character. Seeing sad Pikachu in the original movie is still heartwrenching even today - no tugging of the heartstrings were achieved watching that clip. I much preferred the modernised art style used for the Origins mini-series.
It didn't help that they had the most illfitting music track playing over the trailer.

I'm afraid I think it's nostalgia talking re. Pikachu's tears. They broke my heart at a young age, but now I can only imagine those childhood memories making me well up, not the scene itself. I think it looks good for what it is now: a different graphical take on the film.
