I spent a huge chunk of last summer catching up (and hunting down) the backlog of Dreamcast games I had always wanted to play - Shenmue and its sequel, Sega Rally 2, Jet Set Radio, ChuChu Rocket!, Crazy Taxi - and I've yet to start looking for third party software!.
All of those games are classics in my eyes, and Shenmue/Shenmue 2 blew me away - their massive budgets (still huge today) led to 'realistic' game worlds which still haven't been topped today in terms of how immersive they are to be in.
Some people mention how Vita is Sony's 'Dreamcast', but there aren't many parallels in which this holds true - Sony have a lot of prove (and would need to put their entire weight behind the platform and release plenty of innovative, timeless classics) before I could agree with this statement.

The two Dreamcast Samba De Amigo outings are two of my favourite games ever. I regularly hook my Dreamcast up for a blast on the second game (ver. 2000).
As much as I love my Dreamcast, embarrassingly I haven't played most of the games everyone raves about. Shenmue being the biggest one, though I would love to see the weirdness that is Seaman (steady!) for myself. Anyone played it?

I used to love Toy Commander on dreamcast, nobody else seems to know of it so I'm not sure if it was good because I didn't know any better or wether it's a hidden gem that I had the pleasure of playing. Was great fun in multiplayer too!

I played a demo of Toy Commander that came with my launch Dreamcast, but I never bought the full game. I believe Jaster is a recent convert, though.

I still need to get that one! And Metropolis Street Racer (though I did read that the team ended up using most of their work for that game in Project Gotham Racing so I'm not sure which to get), which seems like it was way ahead of its time.
I think Atlus released a first person, on rails game that's meant to be worth a playthrough, too (forgot its name, though).
I've always wanted to pick up Saturn Bomberman with the Bomberman-shaped controller adaptor - after playing 10 player at Eurogamer (the tangled mass of wires made me chuckle like a loon) I'm a convert.

Street Rce was pretty fun, not sure how well it'd hold up today mind. I was always more of a fan of 4 wheel thunder.

Yup, loved the demo for the longest time but just never got round buying it...until last year... really is good stuff & it'd certainly be a game I'd want see made available if a Dreamcast VC was to happen on wii U.
MSR was a brillaint racer which me & my brother used to always try and out do each other on.

pgr was the spiritual successor off msr all bizarre, one reason i bought off the orignal xbox as it had pgr, doa 3 (loved 2), sega gt and things like buffy which should off been on the dreamcast. its the nearest imo to get a dreamcast 2, i cant think of the atlus dreamcast game

Any SEGA Bass Fishing fans? There's another game I always wanted to play on the strength of that peripheral. Nobody could do enticing-looking peripherals better than SEGA in the Dreamcast era. *cough*Maracas*cough*

Oh it was definitely ahead of its time I just don't see motion control as one of those areas.

Having sat firmly on the Nintendo side of the "SEGA Vs. Nintendo" debate of the early 90's, I'm now catching up on Mega Drive platformers through the Virtual Console. Over the years I've grown to appreciate Sonic without fully loving it - the best SEGA platform games, as far as I'm concerned, don't feature the Blue Blur. Gunstar Heroes is good, Dynamite Headdy is better and Ristar is king. Brilliant game.

i wouldnt say gunsatr is the classic platformer more of a platformer x shump. But disney platfromers you need to play the snes had them but most like aladdin were better on the mega drive then the snes

It's arguably one of the best consoles of all time birthday today, yes the dreamcast is 14 years old and still has games coming out for it.
And I am now missing 48 games from a complete PAL set of games, but have just passed including imports & indie 182 games for my dreamcast.

The Mega Drive is 25 today in japan, what a console it was. With it's blast processing.
