Super Mario Maker

Like smurfy, I've just had a go at this thanks to Nintendo's tour. The chap put me on a 10-life challenge over 8 levels - I aced the first level, which put me in the guise of a different Nintendo character... but the level after that was a bit of a puzzle level and I kept dying. Still as keen as ever on it.

Another video! This time watch as some A-rank casual gets chewed apart by the 100 Mario challenge. Some great examples of level design, some less great. All of them more difficult than doing the cryptic crossword in archaic Chinese.

Another day, another video! This time watch, listen and smell as the Yogscast's very own kim gets an interview with Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka - It's delightful.

If you've pre-ordered the game it'll be dispatched by now, unless it was with shopto -  then you may already have it. One last video I guess? Maybe. First though I think you guys should be made aware of these:

The one time I don't go with shopto I find out today that my copy may not arrive until the Monday 14th.

I thought, "They've cleaned up their tax practices now, I can use them without feeling guilty." Next thing I know (by which I mean one minute ago), "We're sorry but we don't have enough stock."

Mine was dispatched this morning, from amazon. It claims it will arrive tomorrow, which in Azmazon speak means any day but tomorrow.

Given that people always ask me what I want for my birthday, I said this. I've got to wait a couple of weeks.

Why couldn't I have been born significantly premature?

Apologies to everyone as I know y'all are probably expecting plenty o' negativity from me here but how do I unlock stuff? This is currently my third day and it's not unlocked anything... Is it just because I can't be bothered to make a half baked level with the basic elements? I've played all the levels in 10 mario challenge so it's not like I've not played the thing.

You have to spend 15 minutes in the level editor to unlock stuff. There is an update that speeds up the unlocking process http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2015/09/super_mario_maker_patch_speeds_up_tool_delivery

Nope, I went for the Nintendo Store on this one so it's in the hands of yodel...I recently checked the tracking of my copy and it's with the courier so it may arrive tomorrow.

Yodel are as useful as a chocolate fire guard, I've only had 2 out of 5 things turned up on time.

Played a bit earlier: the 10-Mario Challenge handed me some straightforward levels, which was a bit disappointing, but I have dipped my toe in the online pool of levels.

This is going to be big.

From what I've read and seen of this, the 10-Mario challenge is comprised of levels by Ninty devs. It's the 100 Mario challenge that pulls from online levels.

Yesterday I created a course with every single item, I swear I spent 15 mins in the creator. I've uploaded my stage. Somebody has played AND starred it. Why don't I have any more parts? This is bullshit.

It turned up yesterday after all & everything that's been delivered through them for me has arrived on time.

The game can sense that you don't give a fuck about creating levels I've made two levels so far and only have one new tool. (Propeller mushroom)

Gentlemen! We won't have that kind of language in my classroom... oh, yeah.

Most of my time with this has been spent pottering around on levels whose codes I've found online: Twitter, Facebook, SONM. Let me tell you this: some people enjoy inflicting pain on others.

I've honestly tried to make mine challenging but fair, anyhow I'm really enjoying the time I've spent with this so far & I can't help but smile when I see one of my levels come together.

I thought that they were going to do away with the unlocking of everything?

Nah, they changed it from what it used to be (use the creator for 5 minutes then the next day new content unlocks) to a 15 minute system where you have to use all the tools available. I personally like how it unlocks as it keeps your ideas in check, but it's funny if there wasn't an initial uproar about it then most people who have the game would have more content right now.
