| Very much: when he wants to see what's going on, he sits on the Sky box; when he's scared, he goes under the sofa; occasionally, he gambols about. Beatrice has met him three times and isn't keen, sadly. They're separate at the moment but both are going to the vet on Wednesday - heaven knows how we'll sort that out!  |

We've tried to get Beatrice and Gus in the same room a couple of times and Beatrice has always hissed, so we've taken her out again. Last night Jo decided it was time for a proper face-to-face, so she grabbed Beatrice, brought her into Gus's room (the front room, and he's not allowed out of it) and shut the door. Initially Beatrice faced the door and wouldn't come into the room; every time Gus poked his wee head out from under the sofa and saw her, she either growled or hissed. Eventually Beatrice was persuaded into the middle of the room.
Gus got a bit more adventurous and went out to meet her a few times as she sniffed around what had been done to her territory. She continued to hiss and growl. Jo and I are tense as anything at this stage, so it's a good thing when she can grab Gus and put him in his cage (sorry, cat fans - we got a puppy cage for Gus to go into for protection). I throw the blanket over the cage and all is well with the world. Except.
Gus is a scrawny kitten and, in what I can only describe as a pawrison break, gets out of his cage. Beatrice has jumped onto the window ledge by this stage and Gus gingerly approaches. He's meowing but she is still hissing and growling. They are now facing each other in a position where we can't grab either of them that easily. The tension is now at peak levels.
Eventually Gus scampers away back under the sofa, so we decide to grab Beatrice and get her out of there. Only she's not going. I chase her around the TV stand for a bit - she's slippery. I stand behind the TV, forcing her out to the front, and Jo grabs her. She bites Jo on the hand - gently, I'm told! - and we escort her out of the room.
They're not going to meet again until we can get vet advice. It ruined Big Brother's Bit On The Side, let me tell you.

| >implying it can be further ruined  Poor Gus! Have to say that I find Beatrice more adorable (amoreable?), but all pets are lovely. Yes, all of them. Wishing the Dynamic Duo all the best. Incidentally, not my pets, but the flat I'm staying in to avoid commuting has: - Five terrier thingies, of varying degrees of friendliness but all LOUD and very responsive to strangers;
- Two white puddleducks;
- A pondful of fat carp;
- Tortoises, apparently, that I haven't seen;
- A mixture of chickens, including THE FLOOFIEST CHICKENS I have ever seen.
Here's the sort of bird I'm talking about. So fluff! |

It will surprise nobody that this snap will be going in the album, shots like this are very rare to get so perfect ( purfect?)  And Wayne literally half an hour after I brought him home!  |

| More photos! How quickly they age! Wayne's already getting a stronger jawline now. Still more than a hint of a kitten, but the adult features are starting to develop! As are the more adult expressions, such as that oh so classic look of contempt cats get.  Managed to snag a shot of his craziness during his playtime too!  |
