It's bloody hot again and that's because some scorching answers from your Admin Team are headed your way... NOW.
The Angry Sun from SMB3, Balladeer:
In one of the biggest moments of E3 2019, Keanu bloody Reeves revealed himself as a companion character in a starring role in Cyberpunk 2077. But, had Keanu not been available, which famous actor would you have liked to have travelled with through CD Projekt Red's vision of the future? I have no interest in Cyberpunk 2077, so I'd have inflicted Bob Hoskins, in full Mario Bros. mode, on all of you.
We had our first glimpse of No More Heroes 3 as part of Nintendo's E3 Direct this month. Name an eccentric assassin who should challenge Travis in NMH3, and tell us how they'd fight. Ludwig van Beetdown. You chase him around and over a gigantic organ (and knowing Travis he makes a comment about 'gigantic organs'), dodging musical notes and his razor-sharp conductor's baton.
We heard more about Pokémon Sword & Shield in June, and some fans were in uproar that not all existing Pokémon will be compatible with these games. If you were Game Freak, how would you deal with the ever-increasing number of Pokémon? Gritty alternative universe branching off from XY, in which Team Flare's doomsday weapon worked and only certain Pokémon survived the apocalypse. Also: they're all the ones you hate. Turns out Jynx are good at surviving a nuclear winter.
Super Mario Maker 2 constructed itself onto Switch last month. If the GNamer Forum was a Mario level, what would it look like? It's 'words everywhere' again isn't it? As in, the platforms are made out of words, and you jump across them while a slavering Grackler chases you like those Chomps from Yoshi's Island.
Cadence of Hyrule moved and grooved its way onto the eShop last month. If you were to give the guys behind Crypt of the Necrodancer another beloved franchise to work with, what would it be and why? I'd give them Rhythm Paradise. I don't care for the roguelike elements of their games (really!? - everyone), but they seem to be dab hands at the rhythm side of things. I'd love to give them free reign to work with that. Alternatively, just give me a CotN spin-off with the RP art style where I play as the samurai and we're all good.
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night gave us the proper Castlevania adventure we've been waiting for this month, without actually being Castlevania. What dormant franchise would you like to bring back as a completely original and legal game? What should the game be called? I'm going to steal Jay's (PK) Thunder and say Mother. I don't believe there isn't somebody out there with the right brand of quirky brain to make that sort of weird yet emotional and not up itself psychological JRPG again, possibly with better dungeon design. I'd call it Blue World, with the point being that it's a similar yet oddly different blue planet (and Sir David's nicked the Blue Planet title).
Praising the sun (but not really, it's too hot), JayMoyles:

Danny DeVito, please and thank you.

Danny DeVito. And he'd fight very awkwardly.

DANNY DE- I'll stop.
Pokémon Royale. Support your favourites. The losers are culled en masse.

One slope heading downwards into a fiery pit.

I'd love a Metroid Necrodancer. God, can you imagine giving that team Kraid's Theme and bopping around Norfair searching for items to progress?

I read Balla's answer first and whilst the Mother series came to mind, we basically got the closest thing to a Mother game in a long time in Undertale.
I also nearly said Castlevania before realising what question I was answering.
Man, I can't think of anything for this one! Everything that comes to mind - Streets of Rage, Mega Man, Age of Empires, Bubsy - has had a recent installment or one on the horizon. We're in the age of nostalgia now more than ever, I'd say.

But, had Keanu not been available, which famous actor would you have liked to have travelled with through CD Projekt Red's vision of the future? Jeremy Corbyn. Big fan of unions, isn't he? I'd like to think he'd go into CD Projekt and sort out some of their working practices and that.
We had our first glimpse of No More Heroes 3 as part of Nintendo's E3 Direct this month. Name an eccentric assassin who should challenge Travis in NMH3, and tell us how they'd fight. Badd Skwirt A topless middle-aged ex porno actor who swings around like Spider-man but the webs come from his crotch.
We heard more about Pokémon Sword & Shield in June, and some fans were in uproar that not all existing Pokémon will be compatible with these games. If you were Game Freak, how would you deal with the ever-increasing number of Pokémon? Break out of the annual games cycle and allow considerably longer development between new main series releases. Tide fans over with more interesting side games- bring back Ranger, Conquest and so on.
Super Mario Maker 2 constructed itself onto Switch last month. If the GNamer Forum was a Mario level, what would it look like? There'd be two layers, like in a underground level from the original Super Mario Bros where you could bust through the bricks and run along the roof. On the bottom layer would be all the scum - sub-10,000 posts, hated, bullied, not taken seriously. Along the top would be the inner circle. The upper elite. The clique. Cowardly and self-important, the powers-that-be, in dire need of being taken down a peg by some kind of hero, some kind of Erin Brockovich figure who will speak truth to power when they try to censor the facts or smother free speech.
Cadence of Hyrule moved and grooved its way onto the eShop last month. If you were to give the guys behind Crypt of the Necrodancer another beloved franchise to work with, what would it be and why? Monster Hunter. I want to see their Kezu level.
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night gave us the proper Castlevania adventure we've been waiting for this month, without actually being Castlevania. What dormant franchise would you like to bring back as a completely original and legal game? What should the game be called? I'm actually pretty well served in terms of all the franchises I like at the moment. Maybe Pikmin? Call it Les Vegetables and give it a plot which satirises the French revolution through the medium of horticulture.

This is true, but it's not that close to my mind. UT had some of the sense of humour and whimsy, but it also did a lot of things that were very much its own with plot structure, and didn't have a lot of core JRPG elements (or any levelling up if you played it the 'right' way). I was thinking about more of a traditional linear JRPG with that sense of whimsy to it.
I'm slightly surprised people are struggling with this question. I guess most of them have been revived or done: F-Zero came to mind, but I suppose that's what Fast Racing Neo was.

It's been another scorching month... but the admins. have survived and are ready to be met!
Professor Moyleth:
Fire Emblem: Three Houses launched on Switch towards the end of July and asked its players to play the role of a professor in a fantasy world's academy teaching magic, swordfighting and more. If you found yourself having to teach a subject in a fantasy world, what would be your vocation?
I'd love to be able to claim a role as a strategy professor, but my liberal abuse of the rewind feature in FE:TH means I'm not exactly suited for such a role..
It was a big month for Dragon Quest with the release of Hero for SSBU and the launch of Dragon Quest Builders 2 on Switch earlier in the month in which Minecraft style gameplay and the world Dragon Quest collided again. What do you want to see next from your favourite video game franchise?
Any sort of release would be great from the Mother series. The 30th anniversary of the series was last month and all we got was a Spirits event in SSBU. Woo.
A sale in July brought the brain-bending Baba Is You to the forum's attention, and not before time! Tell us about a game you played for the first time a long while after launch and loved.
I missed the boat on Nier Automata by a couple of years - to be fair, it dropped a month before BotW - and I finally got around to playing it this year. It was indeed a good 'un.
The Switch Lite was announced this month, ready to make its older sibling feel large and ungainly. What else could really do with a smaller lighter redesign?
My feelings of self-doubt and pessimism could really do with being downsized, to be honest.
Failing that, even the PS4 Slim felt like a bit of chunky beast - I'm hoping for a more svelte PS5.
Spider-Man: Far From Home swung into cinemas at the start of the month and saw Spidey traipsing across Europe on his summer holiday. Which superhero is due a trip abroad next and where are they off to?
Big shagger Thor is definitely off to Magaluf with the rest of the Guardians after Endgame.
Cricket came home at the Cricket World Cup in July, with a final so exciting that even our Scottish admin said we should have a question about it. What's the most thrilling game or sporting event to you, and why?
Does pro wrestling count here? If so, there's nothing quite like a NJPW main event for getting me engrossed and hooked on every near fall. Okada vs Ospreay from the G1 last month comes to mind immediately.
Golden Balladeer:
Fire Emblem: Three Houses launched on Switch towards the end of July and asked its players to play the role of a professor in a fantasy world's academy teaching magic, swordfighting and more. If you found yourself having to teach a subject in a fantasy world, what would be your vocation? ...it's music. Of course it's music. And while I'd love to train the bard from Wandersong or Edward from FFIV, I don't have the patience to be a teacher and on the thirtieth shoddy playing of 'Ba Ba Black Sheep' on the recorder would probably be fired for putting said recorder through a student's head.
It was a big month for Dragon Quest with the release of Hero for SSBU and the launch of Dragon Quest Builders 2 on Switch earlier in the month in which Minecraft style gameplay and the world Dragon Quest collided again. What do you want to see next from your favourite video game franchise? It's hard for me to pick a favourite franchise, but I'm a big fan of Mr. Wright and Co.'s adventures, and I'd love to see a Great Ace Attorney collection with both games released in the West. Anything would do at this stage though. It's been ages, and rehashes don't count.
A sale in July brought the brain-bending Baba Is You to the forum's attention, and not before time! Tell us about a game you played for the first time a long while after launch and loved. I really liked the start of Ni No Kuni when I played it in what I think was 2016. Charmed off my feet I was. I never pushed on with it, though, so I'm looking forward to doing that and incurring Andy's wrath when it releases on Switch.
The Switch Lite was announced this month, ready to make its older sibling feel large and ungainly. What else could really do with a smaller lighter redesign? British rents.
Spider-Man: Far From Home swung into cinemas at the start of the month and saw Spidey traipsing across Europe on his summer holiday. Which superhero is due a trip abroad next and where are they off to? Bruce Wayne's going to South Africa for a PR trip to show how much he loves the environment. In his private jet, natch.
Cricket came home at the Cricket World Cup in July, with a final so exciting that even our Scottish admin said we should have a question about it. What's the most thrilling game or sporting event to you, and why? I mean, the clue's in the question really If you didn't follow it, the equivalent happened of both teams being 4-4 after full time, 5-5 after extra time, and then going 5-5 on penalties. There's no footie analogue for the game being decided on boundary count, but the match went on over the entire day, had all that time to ebb and flow and build tension (all of which it did in spades), and was a World Cup final between two teams who had never won it before; and therefore was more exciting than any football game played.

Some sort of maths, the students need to know it's sometimes better to just buy a new sword.

Can I not see anything Metal Gear

As you may know, I've owned one or two Xbox One's and in that time I'd get excited about the next Halo or Gears. I would play those and I found those a bit muh, with nothing on the horizon that I couldn't play on PS4 that I would end up selling the Xbox One.
Now since I've had my One X along with game sharing and game pass, I've gone back through some of the exclusives that aren't your system sellers of this world but stuff that would keep you happy.
And I've got to say some of the games such as Quantum Break, Sunset Overdrive, Super Lucky's Tale, Ori and the Blind Forest are really good games that have gone overlooked (both critically and commercially) because they're on Xbox One.
The Switch Lite was announced this month, ready to make its older sibling feel large and ungainly. What else could really do with a smaller lighter redesign?
I could see a PS4 Super Slim coming much like the PS2 and PS3.
I can't think of much I want that I would like to be smaller personally, maybe the next PSVR headset could be smaller somehow but I would sooner see that go wireless.
Spider-Man: Far From Home swung into cinemas at the start of the month and saw Spidey traipsing across Europe on his summer holiday. Which superhero is due a trip abroad next and where are they off to?
Deadpool to Australia

I hope they Cuphead, Ori as I could see it doing well on Switch.
Ori 1 did get a lot of highlighting from YouTubers and gaming press etc but I don't think it did well commercially, could see that being the same with Ori 2 but may do a bit better as it be on Game Pass that people may just download it, regardless

Fire Emblem: Three Houses launched on Switch towards the end of July and asked its players to play the role of a professor in a fantasy world's academy teaching magic, swordfighting and more. If you found yourself having to teach a subject in a fantasy world, what would be your vocation? I'd probably actually be the history teacher. It was a big month for Dragon Quest with the release of Hero for SSBU and the launch of Dragon Quest Builders 2 on Switch earlier in the month in which Minecraft style gameplay and the world Dragon Quest collided again. A sale in July brought the brain-bending Baba Is You to the forum's attention, and not before time! Tell us about a game you played for the first time a long while after launch and loved. Everything Nontendo. I didn't get my PS3 until pretty late, so stuff like Mass Effect, Dark Souls, Bioshock was all well after the fact. The Switch Lite was announced this month, ready to make its older sibling feel large and ungainly. What else could really do with a smaller lighter redesign? My dick mate. It's fucking massive, gets in the way. Spider-Man: Far From Home swung into cinemas at the start of the month and saw Spidey traipsing across Europe on his summer holiday. Which superhero is due a trip abroad next and where are they off to? Most of them should leave the US and see how problematic the status quo is and how much more revolutionary they ought to be. Cricket came home at the Cricket World Cup in July, with a final so exciting that even our Scottish admin said we should have a question about it. What's the most thrilling game or sporting event to you, and why? A good game of ARMS. It's the only fighting game wherein I've probably got to that tense, mano e mano, one on one stage people talk about. It's pretty special. Not cricket.

It's all about the teacher, isn't it? If I recall correctly, the magical history teacher was a very dull monotonous ghost. I'd reckon that most people here have been put off a subject, either at school or university, that they might otherwise have liked because the lecturer/teacher wasn't very good.

Yeah, like Balla said, it was definitely the teacher that caused them all to moan about history lessons. I suppose that a Muggle would be far more interested in the history of a world they've never been immersed in, but I'd imagine that it might be duller for a student born to a wizarding family.

Sorry for it to be me introducing MtAT again folks: Jay has prorogued his status as MtAT standard-bearer this month.
Jayspeh Calvert:
Astral Chain launched right at the back end of August, seeing you control cops who have captured Legions to help fight other Legions. If you could train one videogame minor villain or mook to do your bidding, which would it be and why?
A swarm of Zubats (they're basically Pokémon minor villains, right?) and I'd use them to annoy my enemies. There's nothing worse than trudging through a cave and forgetting your Repels.
Yacht Club put their own spin on the Nintendo Direct formula with a short presentation which concluded with the unveiling of Shovel Knight Dig. We've decided to jump on board with this ourselves so tell us - what's going to be the landmark announcement for the first GNamer Direct?
GNamer Online, yours for only £20.99 with a range of forum games ready to play at launch with more added every month! Play classics like "Who's that Pokémon?" and "Port or Abort?" today!
Metal Wolf Chaos XD rocketed out of relative obscurity last month and saw you playing as the President of the United States piloting a mech to defend the country from a coup. It's as brilliant as it sounds, but what would happen if the current President of the US had his own mech?
He'd go and nuke a hurricane, probably.
Okinaki was Tokyo RPG Factory's latest good-not-great release, starring a really miserable hero. Which videogame character is really carrying the most grief around on the inside, and how would you cheer them up?
It's Solid Snake. He was forced to kill (or so he thought) a man who was basically his Dad, he was used as a bioweapon against his will which resulted in his brother's death (sort of) alongside a man who was his mate (kind of) who had been turned into a robot ninja. He then wasn't even the main hero of his next game and had to watch a blonde sop mope around for a game. Then he got really old because of being used as a bio-weapon and proved he had a really hard life trying to defend the world against his brother-ghost-cowboy nemesis. I'll cheer him up by trying to explain the plot of Metal Gear, he'll find it hilarious.
The latest Fast and the Furious film released last month, and those who aren't series experts might assume that it featured more big dumb fun. What's a game/film/other medium of entertainment that you love to turn your mind off to enjoy?
The various Warriors/Musou games are a perfect example of this, surely? Mowing down armies is just mindless fun.
In yet another chapter of the ongoing Brexit saga, Parliament will (in theory) be proroguing for over a month shortly. If we did the same here at GNamer, why would we be taking a recess this month?
TOO. MANY. GAMES.
Harold 'Bal' Clark:
Astral Chain launched right at the back end of August, seeing you control cops who have captured Legions to help fight other Legions. If you could train one videogame minor villain or mook to do your bidding, which would it be and why? Bloodstained has a demon that's basically a giant cat with horns. The flat would need a bit of remodelling, but it'd be worth it! I would name it Pussums.
Pokémon are cheating Jay, you can train them already.
Yacht Club put their own spin on the Nintendo Direct formula with a short presentation which concluded with the unveiling of Shovel Knight Dig. We've decided to jump on board with this ourselves so tell us - what's going to be the landmark announcement for the first GNamer Direct? An ultraviolent brawler where you, as the Grackler, tear apart all your favourite forumites to jaunty anime tunes. Working title: GMaimer.
Metal Wolf Chaos XD rocketed out of relative obscurity last month and saw you playing as the President of the United States piloting a mech to defend the country from a coup. It's as brilliant as it sounds, but what would happen if the current President of the US had his own mech? My first response was genuinely in-real-life to put my head in my hands, but fortunately he'd crash the thing, pretend he hadn't, say it was stupid anyway, and blame it on China.

Which videogame character is really carrying the most grief around on the inside, and how would you cheer them up? Ganondorf has been alive for how many centuries? And the Hero of Time has killed him, or sealed him in a featureless void, in every iteration. Occasionally he gets so mad (because toxic masculinity says men aren't allowed to express grief except as through anger) that he turns into a giant pig. He's a sad sad man who needs therapy, not the Master Sword.
The latest Fast and the Furious film released last month, and those who aren't series experts might assume that it featured more big dumb fun. What's a game/film/other medium of entertainment that you love to turn your mind off to enjoy? Supernatural is a big dumb telly series about big dumb men shooting big dumb things. It's good fun. In gaming I tend to prefer to have to engage my brain a little, hence my dislike of musou games; but Lapis x Labyrinth scratches that itch, requiring just enough mental exertion to deluge my brain with flashing lights and pyrotechnics.
In yet another chapter of the ongoing Brexit saga, Parliament will (in theory) be proroguing for over a month shortly. If we did the same here at GNamer, why would we be taking a recess this month? I've banned everybody in a fit of rage about getting older, but my highly developed sense of regret wouldn't let me do so for more than a month.

I'd have said one of the Octarians from Splatoon but they've gone and done that now. I'll catch a member of Team Rocket and keep them in a ball and make them fight other members of Team Rocket.
Yacht Club put their own spin on the Nintendo Direct formula with a short presentation which concluded with the unveiling of Shovel Knight Dig. We've decided to jump on board with this ourselves so tell us - what's going to be the landmark announcement for the first GNamer Direct?
Jay's doing an episode of the Podcast. And updating his Music thread thing. And the GNamer High Score Challenge.

He'd crash it into a building and die within minutes. It'd be great.
Okinaki was Tokyo RPG Factory's latest good-not-great release, starring a really miserable hero. Which videogame character is really carrying the most grief around on the inside, and how would you cheer them up?
Cubone. I'd hug him and squeeze him and play with him every day and I'd clean up after him and I'd feed him with my own pocket money and can I get him Dad, can I get him, please?
The latest Fast and the Furious film released last month, and those who aren't series experts might assume that it featured more big dumb fun. What's a game/film/other medium of entertainment that you love to turn your mind off to enjoy?
Warriors games. I've been eyeing up getting one on Switch but I can't decide. I generally prefer the stupidity of playing ones ostensibly based on real people from history, so I'm not thinking Hyrule or Fire Emblem. I could get a China one pretty easily, but I really want to play a Japan one now that I'm familiar with these figures and locations, but there doesn't seem to be one in English on the eShop.
In yet another chapter of the ongoing Brexit saga, Parliament will (in theory) be proroguing for over a month shortly. If we did the same here at GNamer, why would we be taking a recess this month?
Because we've already determined what is, and isn't, objectively a good game or film.

A busy month of gaming passes us by and it's time for another month of Meet the Admin Team!
Jaymon x Machina:
Link's Awakening was remade for Switch this month, and famously features cameos from Chain-Chomps, Goombas, and other extra-Zelda Nintendo characters. Smash and Mario Kart aside, what Nintendo character is going to crossover into another Nintendo franchise next?
Waluigi in Smash. Actually, no, I hope that never happens as the piss boiling would be tremendous.
How about... Mario in Mother 4?
Daemon x Machina finally came out this month, but it had already been hamstrung by a demo. that showed it at its worst. Tell us about a time when the first part of a game, or its demo., put you off a game you'd later love.
The initial part of Bioshock had me genuinely on edge back when it came out - I'd never played anything before with even a modicum of tension or played anything designed to induce fear in the player, so that turned me off the game for ages. I played it again years later as slightly less of an absolute wuss a battle hardened warrior and of course, I bloody loved it.
We've had Dragon Quest XI and Ni No Kuni coming to Switch in September, both great games according to many. What one thing would you make mandatory in all further JRPGs coming out on Switch?
Random battling, get it binned. It's archaic and it's genuinely the biggest barrier for entry for most people when they first dive into the genre.
Sayonara Wild Hearts came out this month, a trippy 'pop-album videogame'. What music artist would you like to see a game based around the works of, and what would that game be like?
A Gorillaz side scrolling platformer with themed levels as you go through the discography of the band. Of course, it would need to be animated in the style of the Gorillaz themselves, so get the Cuphead boys on that one.
Ring Fit Adventure came out of nowhere and showed us a new way to keep fit through the use of the new Ring-Con peripheral. How are Nintendo going to improve our lives next and with what peripheral will they do so?
Nintendo branded cyanide pill - releasing for absolutely no discernible reason on November 1st. Nothing of note is happening on the day prior.
Finally, and most importantly, Untitled Goose Game sees you taking on the role of a horrible goose being mean to the populace of a small town. Tell us about a time you had an unfortunate run-in with some wildlife.
I remember the first time I ever swore was as a wee sprog I was walking across the park when a dog came rocketing towards me with its elderly owner ambling towards it as it had gotten free from its lead. The dog was snarling and barking at me for absolutely no clear reason and chased me for a fair wee bit around the park. I climbed up one of the structures in the play park, looked down at the demon dog and said "FUCK OFF DOG". I remember feeling really guilty afterwards for swearing, and also slightly concerned because my mum had told me that if I swore my tongue would fall off as I wasn't old enough to swear and whilst I didn't really believe her, there was still that element of doubt eating away at me.
Balladeer of the Wind Fish:
Link's Awakening was remade for Switch this month, and famously features cameos from Chain-Chomps, Goombas, and other extra-Zelda Nintendo characters. Smash and Mario Kart aside, what Nintendo character is going to crossover into another Nintendo franchise next? I reckon Captain Falcon will show up in something. Maybe as a cameo in a Kirby game. Just to taunt us.
Daemon x Machina finally came out this month, but it had already been hamstrung by a demo. that showed it at its worst. Tell us about a time when the first part of a game, or its demo., put you off a game you'd later love. My false start with Ocarina is well documented, but did you know I didn't get on with Metroid Prime for a good while? (Did you care? Don't answer that.) I found it a bit eerie for a wuss like me, and the scythe plant boss too bloody hard. I lost my save somehow while stuck on it and chucked it aside for a good length of time. It took another pickup, and some way into Phendrana Drifts, for me to appreciate Prime as the top-ten-of-all-time game it is... alongside Ocarina.
We've had Dragon Quest XI and Ni No Kuni coming to Switch in September, both great games according to many. What one thing would you make mandatory in all further JRPGs coming out on Switch? A fully controllable battle within the first three minutes (after the character design if relevant). JRPGs often get bogged down in their exposition early doors, and frequently feature major opening combats that you never actually get to control. An opening battle acts as a tutorial and gets the player involved early, rather than hammering 'A'.
Sayonara Wild Hearts came out this month, a trippy 'pop-album videogame'. What music artist would you like to see a game based around the works of, and what would that game be like? I got that this month. Untitled Goose Game sets your avian mischief to the tunes of my favourite composer, Claude Debussy. It's wonderful.
Ring Fit Adventure came out of nowhere and showed us a new way to keep fit through the use of the new Ring-Con peripheral. How are Nintendo going to improve our lives next and with what peripheral will they do so? The Vitality Boots. They'll launch with a new Mario Strikers game and a new Mario platformer, strap to your feet, and help you actually jump/kick/foul. Plus they'll give you lovely soothing foot massages.
Finally, and most importantly, Untitled Goose Game sees you taking on the role of a horrible goose being mean to the populace of a small town. Tell us about a time you had an unfortunate run-in with some wildlife. A couple of weeks ago The Lady and I were walking through some woods, when TL's potassium-rich snack attracted the attention of a very hungry horse. The rider suggested we should give it TL's banana skin. TL, being even more urban than I am, slapped Benjamin the Horse weakly about the nose with the skin until I showed her how you're meant to feed a horse. I got a hand full of slobber, while miles from the nearest tap, for my troubles.
Untitled Horse Game would probably be really good actually. Same thing, bigger scale.

Surprisingly dark answer to the fifth question though. Sudden mood whiplash there!

N64 games as I said on the VS. Podcast, I got an N64 one year for Xmas and I couldn't get on with the games that I just went back to playing whatever I got on PS1 or Gameboy that Xmas instead.

Enemies on the field of play

David Bowie, with a game kinda like psychonauts I guess

I'd like to see a full-size Nintendo character as a boss in the next Pikmin game. Climbing up Luigi's dungarees, hiding in his 'tache, battering him in the face, making a line of Pikmin to trip him up and then clobber him, avoiding getting stomped on or sucked into a hoover . . . it'd be a chuckle.
Daemon x Machina finally came out this month, but it had already been hamstrung by a demo. that showed it at its worst. Tell us about a time when the first part of a game, or its demo., put you off a game you'd later love.
A couple of action games have hidden what feels like an essential mechanic behind an unlock or a skill tree. Off the top of my head, both Wonderful 101 and Dragon's Dogma started me off without a decent dodge or block, but became much more fun when I had those.
We've had Dragon Quest XI and Ni No Kuni coming to Switch in September, both great games according to many. What one thing would you make mandatory in all further JRPGs coming out on Switch?
Genuine British dubs. I loved the Xenoblade voices much more than the generic American folks we often get. Hollywood has conditioned me to think that anywhere historic or fantastic is full f British voices - Americans in Ye Olde times just don't sound right.
Sayonara Wild Hearts came out this month, a trippy 'pop-album videogame'. What music artist would you like to see a game based around the works of, and what would that game be like?
Rage Against The Machine. You play as a cool dude in sunglasses and you FIGHT THE POWER. The power, in this case, being gnarly robots.
Alternately, give me essentially SWH again with Tay-Tay.
Ring Fit Adventure came out of nowhere and showed us a new way to keep fit through the use of the new Ring-Con peripheral. How are Nintendo going to improve our lives next and with what peripheral will they do so?
The next Pikmin game, you play as a single Pikmin. Initially you follow the orders of some humanoid overlord, bu eventually you lead organised resistance and overthrow him. The game then becomes a detailed manual on how to unionise, organise, terrorise and revolutionise.
Finally, and most importantly, Untitled Goose Game sees you taking on the role of a horrible goose being mean to the populace of a small town. Tell us about a time you had an unfortunate run-in with some wildlife.
I got gored by a stag once. Well, not so much a stag as a tiny little baby deer. And not so much gored as I climbed up a hill to look at it and then fell down the hill and twisted my ankle.
I had a duck follow me home that one time and I had to save it.
Matty and I are always the people on "catch bugs and take them outside" duty at work.
We found a mantis one time and when I held it, it bit me.
As a kid, I stood in a wasp's nest with shorts on and they stung me all up my legs.
I used to be convinced that cats around town wanted me to follow them places and I'd end up sneaking into churches and stuff where I shouldn't be and one time I knocked on someone's door and they thought I was mental.

Whereas I remember hearing that they'd actually sound more like American 'back then'. Madness. Anyway, DQXI does a decent line in regional accents, although I haven't determined whether or not they're genuine yet.

I'm not saying I'm right, that's just what media has made me feel is right. I think actual historical English sounded more like French.

Oh absolutely, I meant that I'm the same. I know it should sound closer to American or French or whatever but if it isn't RP or entertaining regional dialect I've got no time for it.
