DLC jokes might be (kinda) real as in Japan you can buy digital download cards of the game already, so it will be pre-installed for when it launches. Well on the card says things like file size and what controllers you can use well it also says about paid DLC.

Gosh, DLC before release leaves a nasty taste in my mouth. I doubt I'll buy it, especially as that's not the point of a JRPG for me - the main story is.

Well that is a common thing for boxes etc to say about DLC, it's been a thing since the 5th gen.
But agree there are some bad things around DLC like knowing Far Cry 4 having DLC before even seeing the game but Xenoblade X having it isn't a big deal seeing it's out in mere days, the Internet are make it a big deal due to it being on a Nintendo system.
Also it could just be costumes or it could be something cool like playing as one of your party members before you settle on the planet.
Ohh I would get a bigger hard drive if you don't have one as to get the disc-based version running as best as it can be you need to download 4 data packs which help with load times etc, all 4 come to 10gb.
New story trailer with subs is out, seriously cool stuff although if you're the sort of person who's phobic about spoilers of any kind you might want to give this a miss. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3I16IarGHHg

This game is already game of the forever based on this alone. Seems like its probability of being nintendo's ooctober-december blockbuster title is increasing too.

There isn't the remotest of possibilities that I won't get this game. I don't think I have looked to a game more in my many gaming years.

I was rather disappointed with the Direct as it seemed a little pointless.
The game looks good though and with likes of Zelda & Uncharted not out till next year. This could be the big game of the year.

This really does look amazing I didn't watch too much of the direct but enough to get excited. No Zelda but between this and metal gear I should have ample great big worlds to explore.

The Direct was indeed a bit rubbish, but that's only because I watched the Japanese one. They basically cut 2/3s of the content, including the humorous party chat segments which did a great job at introducing all the characters and their quirks.
I worry that Nintendo won't be able to show this game off in its best light. While I appreciate their focus on showing gameplay, watching the Treehouse folk commentate over some battle footage was boring -- I didn't learn a thing about the game, neither did I want to.

That video was seriously impressive. It's such a simple thing, but not walling off areas of the map from the outset is a great idea.

Only just got around to watching this. It's fair to say that I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed by the gaming world, but I loved XC, and only in a few places (especially Telethia-person city and its timed quests) did I ever feel like the world was too big. I'm hoping that they've got the balance right again.
Nonetheless, I'll mostly stick to the compulsory missions on my first playthrough, I think!

I think it's almost certainly going to be a bigger world than on the Wii - they'll want to make use of the extra power at hand. I think they've compensated for that with the new traversal methods though.

Bleurgh. Dunno why, but limited editions get on my nerves.

See, I would throw half of that away. That's if I can even justify buying the game at all, given my meagre play time with the original...

Same here. I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't find limited editions appealing. Power to those who do, though, but I'd rather buy better merchandise separately, than get random tat for a premium. I'd totally pick up that Xenoblade X soundtrack that got published in Japan, for example.
This is getting a regular edition though, right?
"Can’t make it to gamescom? Those at home can tune into a special Xenoblade Chronicles X Twitch.tv/live live stream broadcast on Saturday 8th August between 15.00-16.00 UK time to get a sneak peak at the game."

Judging by the price difference between the regular edition and the special edition I suspect the art book might actually be pretty decent. Either way, totally buying this. I've already imported the soundtrack from Japan, no way I'm skimping on the collectables at this point!

Did we already have a release date for this? Whatever: December 4th. Start then, still be ignoring your family by Christmas Day!
I've seen a bit of whingin about the localization changing names up a lot, normally I'd be right there with them going full "weaboo" about it. But I honestly don't care, this game continues to look in-effin-credible!
